  • It is wet earth, damp walls, and more. The first 45 minutes are the best: lots of wet earth with volume that immerses you in a damp cave. Then the banana emerges and the fruit rises until minute 25, with earth, banana, and fig, a unique and pleasant blend but different from what was expected, as if it were unbalanced. Wet earth returns to dominate, losing body rather than potency. I expected more longevity and projection; it has left me cold. I love the damp earth and the melancholic loop, but it is bottled and not very usable. Scent: 6.8/10, Longevity: 6/10, Projection: 7/10, Emotional: Yes, Originality: 8/10, Price: 65€/30ml, Recommended: Low.

  • Have you ever transplanted a plant and put your hands in that black, shiny, living soil? Imagine doing it while chewing a banana gum. That is Night Flyer. A unique scent that deserves every letter of the word NICHE. Artistic, bold, and for personal enjoyment only.

  • Smells like mouldy shoes inside a box; I detected nothing fruity. If you have smelled Madame Rochas, you will recognise it, but with less clove and carnation. It is that stagnant dampness you don’t like. If you need to decant, this is not it.

  • Smells like mouldy shoes in their box; I didn’t detect any fruit aroma at all. If you’ve heard of Madame Rochas by Rochas, it’s similar but without so much clove and carnation. It smells of dampness, but that stagnant kind. If you need a decant, this is the case.

  • Thefirstpumpkin

Smells like banana compost covered in earth and kept moist; it’s pure art but hard to wear in the office. The scent is putrid, yet addictive for sniffing at home. It’s virtuous how it moved from imagination to composition, the eponymous ‘Niche’, very similar to Figment Man by Amouage and Hamndani by Marly for that dark, earthy side. A 10/10, the original Bat by Zoologist.

  • Thefirstpumpkin

Makes you think of rotting fruit buried in damp earth; a masterpiece that smells amazing at home but is impossible for the office, though it is addictive on the wrist. It is virtuous how it went from idea to reality, the true Bat of Zoologist and a 10/10, very similar to Figment Man and Hamndani due to that dark, earthy side, save for the fruity notes.

Seems easy but it isn’t: it smells like literally chewed banana gum (like Motitas), or as I told my wife, putting a fruit yoghurt ice cream into fertile soil and letting it ferment for a week with rain. That’s what Night Flyer smells like. A delight I doubt will be enjoyed by noses not accustomed to the artisanal. Projection and longevity are excellent, but due to its density, I suggest using it in cool climates and outdoors. 9/10.

A fragrance that seems easy but isn’t… let me explain. If I told you it smells like chewed banana gum (in Mexico the famous Motitas gum) but literally chewed!… or as I told my wife… put a chasca (yoghurt ice cream with natural fruit) into very fertile black earth and let the mixture ‘ferment’ for a week (preferably in a month with moderate rains)… that’s what Night Flyer smells like. An olfactory delight that I doubt will be understood/enjoyed by noses not accustomed to the artisanal aromas proposed by niche houses. Projection and longevity are very good, but due to the density and aroma, I’d suggest wearing it in fresh (not cold) climates and outdoors. (9/10)

  • A magical fragrance and a great substitute for Zoologist’s Bat. It’s like putting your hands in the pot of a fruit tree that’s just been watered and squashing the fruits. Yes, it can be worn, but remember that besides fruit, it smells of wet earth. Treat it as a work of art to smell and that’s it.

  • A magical fragrance. A great substitute for Zoologist’s Bat. It’s like putting your hands in the pot of some fruit tree after it’s been watered, and then squashing the fruits. It is a perfume that can be worn, but you must remember that besides fruit, you smell wet earth. It also needs to be treated like a work of art to be appreciated.

  • Bought it this summer… and have been saving it for this autumn… very peculiar and indeed for personal enjoyment… but the recreation is exact to what it evokes… that damp cave with ripe fruit… if you like those very realistic notes… it’s spectacular… not very sweet but… it’s an strangely pleasant smell, although I think I’ve jumped the gun… it’s autumn but in the eastern part of Spain where I live… I think the fragrance will shine more with temperatures below 22°C… I’d say it suits temperatures below 16°C. Update: I applied it last night at 9pm to go out for dinner, it’s 9am on Sunday and I’m still getting bursts… bubble and personal enjoyment… but infinite…

  • Gradually, I’ve become a fan of petrichor or wet earth fragrances. It seems a beauty that you can chemically recreate that particular aroma. I started with ‘Last Season’ by Meo Fusciuni and ‘Atardecer’ by Navitus. Now, I’ve picked up a 30ml bottle of ‘Night Flyer’, partly for the notes and partly for the gossip surrounding the original ‘Bat’. Honestly, I’m amazed. Wet earth, with fermented fruit/banana, and a touch of leather at the start. It’s a work of art. I assume those here already love rare perfumes, so this is an emphatic yes (and even more so for its accessible price). But if you stumbled upon this page by chance and still like perfumes because they get compliments, perhaps it’s better to try it in a decant before buying a full bottle.

  • I’ve become a fanatic of petrichor and wet earth; it’s a chemical beauty to recreate that aroma. I started with Last Season by Meo Fusciuni and Atardecer by Navitus, now I have 30ml of Night Flyer for the notes and the buzz of the original Bat. I’m amazed: wet earth, fermented banana, and leather at the start. It’s a work of art for those who love the rare, a resounding yes for its accessible price. If you’re looking for compliments, try a decant before buying.

  • Bought a decant out of curiosity and it didn’t turn out as expected: it’s extremely sweet and invasive, preventing me from appreciating it. I don’t perceive the earthy or woody notes; I sense more chemicals, almost like syrup or medicine. If you like sweet aromas in the nineties style, give it a try, especially in non-tropical areas. I even feel it’s more suitable for women than men.

  • Bought a decant out of curiosity and I must say it didn’t live up to my expectations. The scent is extremely sweet and overwhelming for my taste, to the point where I can’t appreciate the fragrance properly. I don’t detect the earthy and woody notes it claims to have; instead, there’s a strong chemical impression, almost like syrup or medicine. If you enjoy intensely sweet scents with a nineties vibe, give it a try. Especially if you live somewhere that isn’t tropical, as it might be more suitable in cooler climates. I even feel it suits women more than men.
