Descripción
Noir Epices by Frederic Malle is an oriental spicy creation designed for men and women. Launched in 2000, this fragrance was crafted by master perfumer Michel Roudnitska. Its olfactive composition unfolds with elegance: the top notes reveal a vibrant geranium, a citrusy orange, and a delicate rose; the heart intensifies with the warmth of cloves, nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon; while the base notes settle into a woody and sweet foundation of sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, and vanilla.

A good intimate character perfume, with a serene composition without the intention of attracting attention, but rather of keeping a person close to enjoy a closer relationship. It is not as spicy as its name suggests; the spices enhance the roses and the orange, giving a kick to the roses to centre attention on them, and freeing the orange from its freshness to highlight the skin scent. All the notes are of good quality: the roses are uncomplexed in their fullness, without soapy touches to make it wearable, a rich orange that sweetens everything, and two standout spices: a carnal clove and a pepper that is more felt than smelled, accompanying the roses. For that calm and seductive personality, I see it as ideal for autumn afternoons and evenings with someone known. Good longevity of 8-9 hours and an easy-to-detect trail.
Good evolution from start to finish, without abrupt changes but with at least three clear phases. At first, lots of orange and flowers, especially geranium and rose, with spices present from the outset (cloves and cinnamon). In the second phase, it smells effervescent; pepper is the culprit here; the spices dominate, the orange fades, and vanilla with the woods mark their territory. In the dry-down, vanilla takes the lead, mixed with an elegant, soft patchouli. Moderate sillage and good longevity. I see it as unisex but with a masculine character. It works well in the cold; I’m not sure how it would fare in the heat.
Noir Epices is a modern, sober spiced oriental that dips into chypre territory with a softness that makes it unisex. Everything revolves around a core of cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper, to which are added sweet orange, pale vanilla, woods such as sandalwood and patchouli, and a heart of Bourbon geranium with a hint of rose; all very natural and well-constructed. Top quality, correct longevity, though it lacks a little projection, making it very intimate and gaining in personal enjoyment. Elegant and sensual, but not in a lecherous way; that sensuality comes from the sombre and enigmatic nature of the scent. Rating: 7.
Superb fragrance, dark yet eternal and sticky. It immediately evokes Blackpepper by Comme des Garçons with that spicy, punchy base. Spiced bases are in vogue and perfect for winter. The trail is permanent and the longevity impeccable. A definite 9.
