I stumbled upon an excellent deal, though I’m a little undecided about whether to buy it. While I like it and it could certainly be unisex, it feels more tailored to men, especially in our current Caribbean heat. For it to suit me better, I’d need to reserve it for very cool or cold climates, where its typical masculine musk loses its punch… in short, I’ll think about it a bit more. It has the quality of ‘Wild Pine’, and in my opinion, it’s even better: more subtle, fresh, and simple (and if I could wear it, hahaha). It really smells good, and I struggle to imagine it would offend even the most fastidious person. It’s good for any occasion and time of year, requiring no extravagance or ceremony, including sports activities. It’s particularly good for outdoor activities because, besides, it instils a certain energy that both invigorates and relaxes you. It’s well-balanced. However, I would have liked it to be more floral; an expectation I had regarding its middle notes, which has faded upon perceiving only clove and magnolia… same ones that are enveloped by vetiver, balsam of Peru, and the aforementioned musk. Orange and ginger greet you at the opening, but then settle into the courtyard of the petit grain, where the white flowers decided not to bloom in good quantity, disappearing from view after leaving their sweet citrus trail.

It is a variant of the original Wild Pine from the 50s, but softer as a cologne; it retains its classic essence while adding interesting floral notes such as magnolia and jasmine, plus what I perceive as undeclared fruit peels: tangerine, bergamot, and grapefruit, along with dry woods, wild flowers, and moss. I love it because it smells very natural. It stands out for its aromatic depth and the nobility of its components, which are super captivating because they are natural and fresh. Ideal for the day and less potent than its predecessor; it applies perfectly to work, whether in an office or in semi-light or heavy tasks due to its ‘sport’ character. Regarding the ‘sport’ aspect, for actual exercise it doesn’t seem quite suitable; honestly, I would choose something more energetic. Good for a dinner where you don’t want to be intrusive with the food, but never for polluted environments like nightclubs where it would be completely lost. One point to clarify for all Wild Pines: they are not just pine and nothing else, but much more complex jewels, packaged in an ingenious pine-shaped bottle with an integrated atomiser, all of excellent quality with balanced notes and a fine, marked masculinity.

It’s a softer take on the original 1950s Wild Pine, as it’s a cologne; it keeps its classic essence but adds interesting floral notes like magnolia and jasmine, plus what I perceive as undeclared fruit peels: tangerine, bergamot, and grapefruit, alongside dry woods, wild flowers, and moss. I love it because it smells very natural. It stands out for its aromatic depth and the nobility of its components, which are incredibly captivating for being natural and fresh. Perfect for daytime wear and less potent than its predecessor; it applies perfectly to work, whether in an office or for semi-light or heavy-duty tasks given its ‘sport’ character. Regarding that ‘sport’ aspect, I don’t think it’s quite right for actual exercise; honestly, I’d choose something more energetic. Well-suited for dinner where you don’t want to overwhelm the food, but never for polluted environments like nightclubs where it would get completely lost. One point to clarify for all Wild Pines: they are not just pine and nothing else, but far more complex jewels, housed in an ingenious pinecone-shaped bottle with an integrated atomiser, all of excellent quality with balanced notes and a fine, marked masculinity.

  • I bought it online at a good price because a previous comment said it ‘smelled very natural’, but upon applying it, I realised it’s super synthetic; there’s nothing natural about it. However, from the very first spray, I knew I was going to love it. The first image that came to my mind was: Donald Trump in a short-sleeved shirt in the garden of his mansion in the morning, with birds in the background… it smells like a magnate, relaxed and unpretentious. Yes, for the price paid, smelling like all that is a must-have! WARNING: IT’S NOT FOR SUMMER! Not even joking, as it has a very strong clove note. It lasted three hours of projection and reached eight hours on the skin with six sprays; remember that it’s a cologne, in the style of 4711. I regret not having gone for the large bottle; I would bathe in it. Perfect for Sundays off work when one wants to relax. I fell in love with this cologne!

  • Here’s my second take on Pino Silvestre Cologne Sport. You can clearly hear the classic base, but this time with a spicy and citrusy twist that gives it a strong initial burst for an hour before settling on the skin. It lasts about four or five hours, nothing more, which is exactly what it needs. It’s economical and well-made, leaving that sense of cleanliness and freshness for that duration. As others mention, it does have a synthetic note, but it doesn’t detract from its merit. I only notice the vetiver at the end, which gives it its characteristic seal. It works well for both formal and informal occasions, being ideal for morning or afternoon. It’s an all-rounder that does its job without asking for more. The bottle is pretty, although the old atomiser used to leave liquid in the flask; that has been fixed in the newer models. In summary: citrusy, spicy, cheap, and perfect for almost all seasons, leaving you with that clean, fresh trail. Cheers!
