I tried this new Amouage fragrance today. It’s surprising because you wouldn’t expect such a sharp citrus from this house. It opens with a very intense, rich lemon, with plenty of black pepper giving it a spiced touch, and on the skin it becomes very smoky thanks to the frankincense. The issue is that it adds nothing new. Barely a moment after applying it, you think: ‘I’ve heard this before.’ For me, it’s very similar to Hermès Eau de Citron Noir and Penhaligon’s Racquets. This isn’t what you expect from Amouage. Scent: 6, Sillage: 6, Longevity: 8, Price: 2.
I like perfumes because they tell stories, remind us of experiences, ground us in the moment and transport us… This does none of that. It’s a sharp, sour lemon peel that’s been sitting by the fire for hours and then some. Smoky lemon. As if you’d spent all day at a campfire and then gorged yourself on lemons. That’s what this is to me. I don’t like the incense this house uses. Generally, they ruin compositions that would have been rounded off with this churchy smoke scent, which is so annoying and pervasive. I agree with the previous review: for a perfume that adds nothing new and costs what it does, being served this is almost an insult. That said, personally, it doesn’t remind me much of Citron Noir. The vibe is there, but I think the Hermes version is much better balanced. Still, it could be in the same style because certainly, this is nothing new under the sun. That said, the positive thing about this perfume is that it’s incredibly long-lasting! I don’t know how they do it, as citrus notes usually last a breath, but this is super potent!
I like perfumes that tell a story and transport me… this does none of that. It’s a sharp, sour lemon peel, as if left baking in the sun for hours. A smoked lemon. As if you’d spent the day by a campfire eating lemons left and right. That’s what it is for me. I don’t like this house’s incense; they tend to ruin well-rounded compositions with that annoying, invasive churchy smoke smell. I agree with the previous reviewer: for a perfume that offers nothing new and costs what it does, being served this is almost an insult. That said, personally, it doesn’t remind me much of Citron Noir. The vibe and air are similar, but the Hermès version is better balanced. Although this isn’t anything new under the sun. It smells very much like Hermès Eau de Citron Noir. As I use it often, I initially thought the Amouage version was identical upon first spray. I noticed only minimal differences, almost as if they were different batches of the same perfume. It’s a pity I only tested it for a minute before getting distracted and missing its evolution. If it doesn’t develop further, I’d prefer the Hermès for its performance. For me, the price isn’t justified unless I notice a subtle difference that wins me over, which isn’t the case here. Still, a great purchase—an incredible and fascinating citrus. I recommend it.
I absolutely love this scent: a potent, high-quality citrus with a hint of pepper and a deep, elegant incense. Perfect for a wedding on a sunny spring day. It smells wonderful and lasts a long time.
For me, this is the jewel of Amouage. The moment I smelled it, childhood memories flooded back all at once. Rating: 10. It smells utterly distinct from everything else, and bear in mind, it has nothing to do with Hermès Eau de Citron.
First impression review: Unisex aroma with a tendency towards masculine. I agree with others that it’s a bitter-smoky citrus, but that doesn’t make it bad; rather, it’s more niche or requires an acquired taste. It’s a potent, dense citrus with a trail that can compete in density with scents from its polar opposites despite the ‘bad reputation’ of citrus. It reminds me of Hermès and a bit of Dior Homme Cologne, but with more longevity and less sweetness due to the smoky notes. I see it as unisex but with a clear masculine tendency, perhaps for men over 25, and versatile in temperatures above 20°C. Scent: 9/10 (there’s a bias, I like citrus). Longevity: 7.5/10, still evaluating. Trail: easily above 1.5 metres. Originality: that’s its weakest point, it’s not very original. Price: very expensive in retail; if found for under 250 dollars, maybe it’s a good deal.
Incredible smoky citrus aroma. On my skin it lasts (9-10h), it’s unique and very memorable. It’s truly a pleasure that fragrances of this type perform so well. In my opinion, it’s much more masculine than unisex, works well in warm and temperate climates. Incredible, 10/10.

Very potent opening of lime and smoked lemon. After half an hour, only the incense, eleni, and woods remain, while the citrus fades to very weak levels. Projection is medium-high, longevity exceeds 4 hours as of the half-hour mark and goes over 8 hours on the skin. In terms of performance, it’s the best there is for citrus. Scent: if you like smokes and incense, it’s one of the best. Anyway, I’m blown away!!!!
Very powerful opening of lime and smoky lemon. After half an hour, only the incense, eleni, and woods remain, with the citrus very weak. Projection is medium-high, longevity exceeds 4 hours minimum after half an hour of application and over 8 on skin. In performance, it’s the best there is for citrus. Good heavens, 370 euros. This is getting out of hand worryingly. I hoped my first impression was bad because, well, it really was. We’d be in trouble… It even had an oily nuance I didn’t like. A piercing citrus that didn’t seem very natural… and incense molecules and other things like iso e super to make it last, which, by the way, doesn’t last a lifetime. Shockingly overpriced. That’s my first impression, hehe.
The descriptions from my fellow reviewers summarise the perfume well: citrus, smoke, and resins. In performance, it maintains the Amouage tradition of long-lasting presence. Furthermore, Search has the virtue of being wearable all year round: in the cold, the resins and smoke envelop you; in the heat, the all-day-lasting citrus saves you. It’s very versatile. From my point of view, Amouage could have spared itself this, as it adds nothing to its collection, although they certainly needed a citrus. However, I’m not convinced by citrus with smoky resins; it’s a matter of taste. Lately, excluding Overture and some Opus recreations, they haven’t hit the mark much in maintaining their line. But, well, that’s my opinion. Anyway, Amouage remains my favourite house.
Tragically, it’s the first Amouage I’ve tried and I really don’t like it. I like the citrus part and the vetiver, woody… up to that point, it’s fine. The price, well. The performance, no complaints. But from the start, the resinous and smoky part overwhelms me. I reject it. It gives me the same feeling as The Excelsior Bouquet by Atkinsons. No, thanks. We’re getting off this perfume’s boat. Edit: the dry-down is better, it becomes more pleasant, but it’s still not my style.
A brilliant fragrance, perhaps less ambitious than the others from the house, but it has the highest mass acceptance without losing the essence of Amouage in quality and elegance. It’s citrusy, bitter, with a powerful resinous base. After ten minutes, you notice the woody, earthy base with that smoky touch that people compare it to Burning Barbershop by DS&Durga or Vert Fougere by Floris. Its evolution is quite linear; after four hours, on my skin, the vetiver and resines move to the forefront while the citrus recedes. I see it as versatile, but I prefer it in warm seasons. In summary: I like it, it’s elegant, has good trail and projection. Lasts around 10 hours. Suitable for dressing up, semi-formal occasions; it’s masculine but undoubtedly unisex. Scent: 8/10, Trail: 9/10, Projection: 9/10, Longevity: 8.5/10.
If you like this, you must try Tertia Sensu’s Morning Breath: it’s more potent and costs fifteen times less.
Does this happen to you? Aside from Amouage Man Reflection, I don’t see anything from Amouage Man for summer. It smells fresh at first, but once the citrus fades, the heavy, resinous bases return, which suffocate us in our local haze here. It might be cultural, but for a Spaniard, I just don’t see these scents for summer.
I don’t know if this happens to you too, but apart from Reflection Man, I can’t see any other Amouage Homme suitable for summer… This one is fresh, but once the citrus fades, the heavy, resinous base notes return, which suffocate you in summer, at least here where the summer is very hot. Perhaps it’s cultural, but for a Spaniard, I just don’t see these scents in summer.
I’d like to add to the existing comments: this perfume has no performance flaws, but if you can’t handle the sharp smoky lemon, think twice. It’s a very personal taste; that strong acid dominates the first two hours. Then it changes and becomes more pleasant, with resinous and woody notes reminiscent of Boss Bottled Elixir. Ideal for spring and autumn; in summer, if it’s over 33 degrees, it might overwhelm you. As I always say, don’t trust the notes alone; test it on your skin before spending on niche.
