  • Within the Jacques Bogart brand, French and whose exclusive activity is fragrances, we find another family called Silver Scent, as already happens with the other that possesses One Man Show. To be honest, both families share a common DNA with the brand; perhaps OMS is more fougère and aromatic, and SS more oriental. Its orientalism is simple, not too complex or sophisticated compared (for example) with others from Ted Lapidus. But it has great strength, longevity, and trail for many hours, with a very marked character, as is the norm in Jacques Bogart. I have a sample of this Deep and its opening reminds me a lot of One Man Show Gold Edition, as if it were telling me I haven’t left Jacques Bogart and that it is just another variant of streets within the same area. I think this brand knows how to construct an oriental in the most masculine way possible, avoiding sweeter and more sophisticated attempts within that field. It is strong and long-lasting, but not as much as the One Man Show, which are perceived as even more compact if anything. It is a fragrance that is good at a price that is good. Perhaps the brand doesn’t dress as much as others in a bathroom wardrobe, but in terms of effectiveness and quality, it envies nothing of the top brands. Recommended to test them.

As my first review on this forum, I want to highlight the similarity in its aroma to PRESS for men PLATINUM by Karina Rabolini (a perfume not listed on Fragrantica). Yesterday I passed by a perfumery where I usually shop and the seller suggested I try this along with others from the same brand; at first, on the initial impression, it reminded me of one, but at that moment I couldn’t identify it, as the K. Rabolini one I had used a long time ago, years would I say, and I never saw it in a shop again. In any case… at that moment I didn’t recognise it, but I took it along with others because I liked the aroma very much. But just today, while wearing it, my olfactory memory was activated and I was able to recognise the similarity. I clarify that it is merely a personal memory; surely some note makes me remember it or keep it in mind. Moving on to the perfume itself: it is a warm embrace and slightly sweet, in no way cloying. It suits very well on mild and fresh days, with moderate to high longevity and an equally good trail. It is a perfume that, while you wear it, envelops you in a very soft aura that accompanies you all day; at least in my case, I don’t have to make an effort to find the scent, quite the opposite: it is present even if I don’t realise it. Very rich fragrance, masculine and very versatile.

The blend of its notes gives it a grape aroma with hints of nut and geranium. It’s a bit synthetic but pleasant to the nose; its price is between $15 and $20. Longevity of 6 hours and projection of almost 2 hours, good for cold climates and casual occasions. I give it a 7/10.

Jacques Bogart is a brand that combines good olfactive quality with prices within everyone’s reach. This Deep loses that bubbly sensation of the normal Silver Scent, but I find it pleasant, with widely acceptable performance. Good opening, quite intense; the heart is the moment when this creation personally captures me and can be savoured very pleasantly. With this fragrance, far from being mass-produced, it demonstrates once again that quality does not have to be expensive: the vanilla and tonka bean pods give the final touches, adding sweetness, along with a delicious hazelnut. A recommended product if you like fresh and sweet scents that bring energy and good humour. At night, it performs even better, 5-6 hours without issues, an achievement for me.

  • Sweet and soft aroma, it doesn’t overwhelm or cloy, it has a ‘creamy’ touch that makes it warm, very good and recommended for all ages. Its scent reminds me of custard with vanilla and how ‘Milan’ brand erasers smelled back in school. We could say that the Silver Scent range from Bogart is the least risky as it aligns more closely with current tastes. Scent: 8, Longevity: 8, Sillage: 7.5, Projection: 8, Compliments: 7, Value for money: 8.5, Versatility: 7.5. Good overall performance, above average. Projects notably for 2-4 hours to keep going and projecting, though in a more discreet manner until 8-10 hours. Anyway, I believe due to some experiences it’s a fragrance that deceives a bit and sometimes ‘fatigues’ the nose, making one perceive it less when it actually works well, so my review could even be a point better than what I’ve already mentioned. Not bad for a fragrance costing around £25, recommended.

  • JACQUES BOGART’S SILVER SCENT DEEP is a simple, humble, and generic fragrance that offers a lot for little money. A shame for many designers these days. Launched in 2014, a bit out of time, as its aromatic accord is more suited to the 2000s. To start with, I don’t even consider SILVER SCENT DEEP to be Fougère or Oriental, as the product sheet claims. I don’t smell any woody, spicy, incense-like notes, or anything that reminds me of those olfactive families. Personally, I would place it in the Aromatic Woody Aquatic family. Its scent is very linear, remaining constant throughout its evolution. I don’t detect notes of orange, bergamot, or grapefruit, nor clary sage or nutmeg. What I perceive is Iso E-Super aromatised with mint, lavender, amber, tonka bean, white musk, sandalwood, cedar, and a touch of vanilla. The blend results in a balsamic, camphoraceous, and woody scent. Although generic, I find it pleasant. I would recommend it to anyone, of any age or circumstance, given its versatility. I was surprised by its trail and longevity, which are more than acceptable, combined with its affordable price, making it a very advisable perfume for smelling good without spending much. JACQUES BOGART’S SILVER SCENT DEEP possesses the virtues of honesty, simplicity, and humility. Fragrances like these deserve all my support in today’s perfumery, where 90% is dedicated to marketing and advertising.

What a joy regarding the price; $20 and you already have a delicious sweet fragrance with vanilla that sometimes recalls Gaultier, but then the nutmeg and geranium give it just the right ‘spice’ to make it orientalist. It’s a safe bet, no surprises, nothing like the bomb fougères Jackie-B has got us used to. By the way, that orange citrus opening is totally explosive. Recommended, gentlemen… but nothing extraordinary. Impression and projection are formidable. Well, Bogart.

What a pleasant surprise for the price! $20 for a delicious and sweet fragrance, with a vanilla that at times reminds me of Gaultier, but then the nutmeg and geranium add the perfect ‘kick’ to make it oriental. A safe bet, nothing risky; it’s not a bomb fougère like we’ve come to expect from Jackie-B. By the way, it has a totally explosive citrus opening (orange). Recommended, gentlemen… but nothing extraordinary. Impressive longevity and projection. Well, Bogart.

  • La Nariz Simple

AROMA: GOOD, PROJECTION: GOOD, FIXATION: GOOD, QUALITY: GOOD. BLIND BUY: MMMMM, 5.5/10. IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE INTENSE VERSION NOR THE ORIGINAL. THIS ONE IS MORE VANILLA-LED. I RECOMMEND IT AS A THIRD OPTION AFTER THE TWO MENTIONED ABOVE.
