Descripción
Valley Of The Kings by Alexandria Fragrances is a woody-chypre fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by perfumer Hany Hafez. Upon release, the scent presents the freshness of lemon and sour lime alongside orange; the heart reveals the elegance of Damask rose and the depth of blackcurrant; while the base settles on a warm and enveloping foundation of patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, labdanum, and musk.

On first sniffing the Valley of the Kings, only one word came to mind: OPULENCE. Alexandría Fragrances has nailed it by faithfully capturing that essence. What a luxury to perfume the skin with this elixir. At first, the potency was overwhelming and all the notes exploded at once, confusing my senses a bit until, gradually, each ingredient took its place. First, the best patchouli I’ve ever tried: earthy, sweet, with that sweaty nuance due to its initial strength, but which later shows its gentle and gallant side. Followed by a seductive, glamorous rose with character, nothing delicate, but a flower with thorns of extraordinary beauty. Immediately, the perfect sandalwood appears, clean and impeccable, alongside a soft but present vanilla. To close, the blackcurrants add a precious acidity that balances everything, wrapped in an elegant musk. It’s unisex and I’d love to try it on a man, although on my skin its charm is another world entirely. Alexandría Fragrances is earning a spot among my favourites for that masterful, slightly erratic, yet always beautiful evolution. A 10/10, it’s here to stay in my collection.
The opening is an explosion of patchouli with citrus, where you can detect orange peel and lemon zest; gradually, a delicately sweetened red rose emerges, softened by blackcurrant juice. In the heart, the patchouli and rose remain, creating a very unisex yet elegant fragrance. The sandalwood joins as the canvas on which this artwork is painted. Towards the base, it transforms into sensuality and sophistication thanks to a slightly sweetened musk, with vanilla adding just enough balance to keep it from being dry. Basically, that’s what the Valley of the Kings gives me. It’s a perfume that can certainly be used for special occasions like weddings and formal events, but for casual wear, I feel it’s wasted.
The Valley of the Kings starts off super bright, citrusy and floral, with a patchouli to close the show. I’m a bit taken aback by that rose in a darker facet than usual, but gradually the blend ambered and attar-ed until it gave a result that didn’t suit me, as if the perfume aged twenty years in minutes. Honestly, I didn’t like it. There are plenty of other original options out there, so I’m moving on from this. Rating: 4/10.
The Valley of the Kings starts off very bright, with citrus, floral touches and a patchouli that frames the composition. I’m sorry to say that the rose appears in a darker facet than usual, but gradually I notice how the blend ambers and attars, leaving a result that doesn’t quite convince me, as if the perfume in question aged twenty years in minutes. Honestly, it didn’t work for me. With so many other original and inspired options available, I’m moving on from this one by Alexandría. Rating: 4/10.
