Descripción

Dapper 1959 by Alexandria Fragrances is a fragrance from the olfactive family for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition is signed by perfumer Hany Hafez. In its top notes, lemon, lemon balm, and lemon verbena join a vibrant citrus base. The heart of the fragrance reveals a harmony between lavender and musk, while the base notes evoke a sensual depth with patchouli, star anise, leather, and pepper.

  • A fine barbershop fragrance. Years ago I decided to explore houses that create scents inspired by designer and niche successes. One is Alexandria, but this house goes further, crafting its own perfumes. One is this Dapper 1959. As a lover of barbershop fragrances, I read the description and bought it. I am very pleased, because I adore it. It sits within the olfactive range of typical barbershop scents, yet it is different from the others in my collection. The opening reveals it to be very rounded and well-blended. It begins with a muted citrus accord, not sharp, accompanying the lavender and a musk in just the right measure, likely what gives it such roundness. Behind that, the anise is barely perceptible, unobtrusive, as too much tends to become sharp and unpleasant to me. There may be further notes, but they blend together to create that classic barbershop lotion sensation, with everything in its place. It does not overwhelm with its projection, as a good barbershop fragrance should, though it envelops you in a bubble of serenity for 3–4 hours before settling closer to the skin. A curious detail: when I bought it, it had a slightly yellow hue; now it is ambered, with an almost orange tone. It has matured and become even rounder. This is a daytime fragrance for mature people who enjoy serene moments that life sometimes brings. Ideal for a coffee or beer on a pleasant spring day on a terrace overlooking the sea, alone or with company, to savour the view, the sounds… and the scents.
