It’s very masculine, a masculine and yet unique scent; wherever you go you leave a trail… I recommend it.
It’s super masculine, a manly yet unique scent; wherever you go, you leave a trail. I recommend it.
I also recommend it; it’s one of Versace’s finest fragrances, very masculine and fresh, ideal for young men. The scent is exquisite, with a light citrus touch but dominated by sweet notes… and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

I bought it at Fragrance.net. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it again. Too much lavender for my taste and very weak. Of all the Versaces I have tried, my respects go to the Versace Man of 2003.
Versace Versus is a fragrance already very hard to find. I did a test and my impressions were: it has a headload charged with woods and resins, with some fruity notes, but these latter disappear very soon. Its scent is rich and very masculine; due to its characteristics it is suitable for use in cold climates or night activities. As for performance, despite starting very well, its duration is very poor, hardly reaching 5 hours and close to the skin. I don’t recommend buying it blindly unless it’s for collection, as its scent is rich and also it’s not easy to get hold of. As mentioned by the colleague herreroph of the Versace fragrances I have tried, this has been the poorest in performance.
Well, let’s open the time tunnel but don’t go through it; let the memories come. Theoretically, it’s healthier to make mistakes in the present than to correct those of the past, so, honouring that theory, I will irrevocably err in reviewing a memory. My 90s were my 20s, and this perfume was like a slap in your first fight, the one that tells you you’re no longer a hurried, clumsy pubescent boy, but a Man, a Male, a Stud. This fragrance set you apart from the herd; you were the Alpha. As the name anticipated, you were Versus, the rest your childish past, the machinations of the future and the world. It reaffirmed your virility with salty woods from the sea, stones that were once something else, beastly humours and their leather, dried tears of well-bred girls and the bitterness of uncertainty; only the mediocre are sure of everything. I wore it all year, but always at night, as I began to know formality and made my best attempt to show I wasn’t entirely convinced (formal shirt, open collar, dark jeans or black suede trousers). It wasn’t for everyone; it was for young people with adult energy, like those chosen to star in a Sofia Coppola film (handsome, elegant) but who decided to shoot in black and white with Jarmusch and Tom Waits. Let’s close the tunnel.

Versus Uomo is a timeless fragrance despite its semi-fougère launch; after the first ten minutes, it settles into a linear set of masculine accords with a slightly irritating musk in my taste, derived from amber and benzoin, but which owes all its virtues to it. Versus is a fragrance that carries all that masculinity established in the 50s until the late 70s in the chest, on a purely conceptual plane. However, very coherent and dignified in its birth, 1991. A worthy rival to YSL Jazz and all born in that era that had one foot in the past and another in a rupturous and perhaps desperate search for innovation. Among them, Versus has a unique spirit, as it perfectly unites the past with those aspirations. It has seemed to me an extraordinary fragrance that mixes notes without giving prominence to any in particular. In this conception, notes like vanilla and peach only play their role in the construction of a whole; if anything, the coriander seed is slightly above the rest, while lavender and clove reach one of their greatest heights here, without being protagonists but very necessary, as they add energy and vibration to this Versace. The whole is masculine and with a slight vibration reminiscent of the ebullient and brutal Ungaro I in its kinder phase. It took me five days to understand the beauty of this magnificent Versace and I feel it will be one of my favourites from now on. I recommend digging up stones, getting into corners to get hold of this fragrance if you like the vintage world, as it combines and assembles with true art an timeless fragrance, tremendously masculine and sexual. Note: requires over-application to reach without problem the 8 hours. Average projection. Update (31/03/2021): This fragrance has an effect on women that has surprised me, I don’t know if it’s due to its enormous masculinity or the comment about the use of pheromones. Whether true or not, it seems to have a narcotic effect on them.

But which Versus are we talking about? Versus Uomo was my cologne of the 90s when it was just starting out; it wasn’t very well known, but it suited me perfectly; back then they said it had pheromones. I used it until the early 2000s when it disappeared. I found the last bottles in lost perfume shops in Las Palmas when it was already retired. That’s why I don’t know what perfume people are talking about today when it’s impossible to get hold of, because simply put, it doesn’t exist. If you want to remember that perfume, smell Obsession by CK for women ODP, it’s identical, at least on my skin.
What a pity it’s discontinued. It’s a citrus, masculine fragrance with a balsamic touch that made you feel energetic and attracted compliments. I still keep the empty bottle with its box; I hope to find something similar.
Versace Versus is a beautiful, sweet citrus composition that isn’t talked about enough, yet strangely the prices are rising. Its scent is a friendly blend of woods and lots of lime, followed by peach adding that sweetness, moving between the 90s and 80s influences. It’s very versatile and perfect for dates and work. Sometimes it reminds me quite a bit of Boucheron Homme EDP due to its citrus notes, but with more punch. It’s one of the best fragrances from Versace, and it hurts to see them releasing Eros Elixir, Dylan Blue, and that detergent Pour Homme… well, I won’t continue. If you get it at a good price like I did, don’t let it go. You have one of the house’s treasures and of the 90s.

I’m absolutely obsessed with the urban punk-rock aesthetic of Versace Uomo. It’s aimed at a young, party-ready guy with a gay-friendly vibe and a very ‘nightlife’ feel. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, Gianni Versace tried to create an exclusive line with Versus to attract youth, something the brand hadn’t done before as its audience was more mature. The marketing was brilliant: accessible prices without compromising premium quality, courting new generations. Versus Uomo is a ‘relaxed citrus’ with character; I thought they would take more risks aromatically, but at least with this first men’s launch, they took the spirit of the 1984 Versace L’Homme and filtered it through a youthful lens, stripping away the animalic, spicy, and ‘aged’ elements. It opens with sweet bergamot, touches of tangerine and peach; the citrus is most noticeable. As it evolves, it turns towards musky, vanilla, and amber tones. The clove stands out, which it shares with its father. We could say it’s a rejuvenated Versace L’Homme: yes, without a doubt. It lacks the complexity of the original (nor did they seem to try for it), but both are perfect. The philosophy is ‘less is more’ with quality. I expected something different, but I still like it. In my case, I’d give it a bit more strength to project further, nothing more.
