  • It opens with a lemony explosion that in seconds yields to a soft resinous phase, finishing with vanilla. It is a very light, powdery perfume, with better tenacity on clothes than on skin. Due to its lack of projection, I recommend it for teenagers.

I was wearing Blue Jeans and The Dreamer as staples, so I decided to dive into the full collection. I stumbled upon Baby Jeans by chance at a good price and, without a doubt, bought it. It starts with powerful citrus, expressive mandarin and bergamot, but after five minutes it shifts to something powdery, clean and soapy, ideal for a newborn baby. It is exquisite, soft and addictive; if you are a father, it smells of baby shampoo and Johnson’s talcum powder. If you have to take the little one to family gatherings so everyone wants to hold him, this is the perfect perfume. Projection is medium-low, perhaps two or three hours, and on clothes it leaves a little to be desired regarding longevity, but for its target audience and price, it is worth the risk.

  • I have a lovely memory of this perfume; I wore it as a teenager. For me, it is unisex and soft. I love the lemon scent; lately I’ve tried other options that I didn’t like, such as Light Blue, Halloween Blue Drop, or Moschino Love Love. These came across as too acidic for my taste, whereas my memory of this fragrance is of a tender, soft lemon. I hope I can get it back to wear during the day.

In contrast, this reminds me of a tender, soft lemon. I hope I can get it back to wear during the day.

  • A citrus bomb, what a surprise. Yes, Versace children did smell good! I thought it would be something sweet and tranquil, like ‘lemon caramel’, but I was wrong to judge the book by its cover. Baby Blue Jeans explodes on the skin with a powerful, rough, and vibrant lime that overwhelms without asking permission. Sparkling and intense, with bitter tones where bergamot takes the lead at the start. But it doesn’t end there: the citrus notes join herbs and fine touches of patchouli. I wonder: where is the childlike scent? It seems to be an adaptation of classic men’s citrus fragrances, with a minor but present woody side. The curious thing is when it dries down: the vanilla jumps to the centre. Citrus, vanilla, patchouli, woods, iris with a powdery aura… it reminds me of Shalimar, but rougher, more citrusy, without tonka bean and with a semi-herbal touch. The more it dries, the more I love it: the rough opening and the heart become warm, earthy and musky. I was astounded. I don’t have the first version of Giv’ré, but the Euroitalia version from the early 2000s. It becomes softer and more delicate with time; the opening is dazzling and classic. Projection is moderate for the first two hours, then it fades, but its tenacity is perfect, perhaps even better than its older sibling. It’s ironic that Blue Jeans has a sweeter opening than Baby. Two fragrances that have nothing to envy each other. In fact, I like both, although I admit that Baby Blue balances its composition better: it articulates citrus, vanilla, woods and herbs, whereas Blue Jeans at times seems overwhelmed by a high dose of tonka bean. Impressive.

I love it because it smells almost exactly like my beloved Guerlain Habit Rouge. Another classic I adore, a citrus bomb so powdery at the end that every note fulfils its role with dignity. I have one and I want to buy another bottle.

  • An incredible perfume (for children?) that once again demonstrates the quality of the offerings from those years. Baby Blue Jeans opens with a zesty, refreshing lime and a slight sweetness, which I believe is mandarin. I also detect some mint and lemon balm, even though they aren’t listed in the olfactive pyramid. Surprise: it smells very much like Versace Versus Uomo, which is almost impossible to find today. Once the citrus top notes fade, a touch of iris adds a very delicate powdery halo. The iris blends with rosemary, a combination I adore. The base is slightly woody and subtly sweet with sandalwood, delicate vanilla that is never overwhelming, and cedar. At first, it doesn’t grab your attention much, but after about 15 minutes, the floral and woody aroma develops, which you will enjoy greatly. In my case, the longevity is around four hours; I notice the trail in the mid-range before it settles closer to the skin. I consider Baby Blue Jeans unisex; women can easily wear it. What a pity they’ve discontinued it; the olfactive quality is perfectly current. Another gem from the past that, fortunately, I can still enjoy.

  • My first perfume I can remember. They gave it to me when I left preschool (I was six) and wore it through primary school; what nostalgia. It smelled of pure innocence, literally. What I loved most was its talc and lemon scent; my teachers always teased me about it. Nowadays I keep it as a memento; about a third of the bottle remains. Due to oxidation, the liquid has turned a dark yellow and the smell has changed considerably; it’s now strong and unpleasant. What a pity they’ve discontinued it, so I can’t smell my childhood again…
