  • I have it and I love it. I bought it recently at a very good price and it is a pleasant surprise. It is fresh and light but with great fixation. The bottle is very simple, but I like it with that 1970s air (for me, at least). It is definitely in one of the top spots on my list of fresh waters.

I tried it and was convinced. It’s citrusy with a spicy note, perfect for daytime. I love it for hot summers; it lasts well on the skin despite being a fresh water. I spotted it at a ridiculous price a few days ago in 100ml.

  • I own it and I love it. I bought it recently at a good price and it’s a pleasant surprise. It’s fresh and light but with excellent longevity. The bottle is very simple, but I like it for that 70s vibe (at least for me). It’s definitely up there among my favourite fresh scents.

  • It is a fresh, spicy, citrus, herbal, and floral aroma, in that order. It opens with a burst of spices: cardamom and pepper, then you feel a juicy green lemon, with the bitterness of grass or freshly cut lawn. Jasmine and mint join subtly to finish on a woody base of cedar. It is unisex, not sweet, better for hot summer days, original and distinct from current fresh waters. For me, it particularly reminds me of Eau Jeune Senteurs Fraiches, although this one has a sweet and sparkling mandarin in the opening, while Eau Fraiche has pure and acidic lemon and the surprise of its spicy base. The middle and base notes are almost identical: jasmine, mint, and cedar. Sillage is moderate to soft and longevity is 2 to 3 hours. I won’t mind reapplying, because it won’t bother anyone. Hummm, the more I smell it, the more I like it. The bottle is very Arden, they could have improved it, but you can’t ask for much more.

  • It is sparkling citrus and floral. I like it very much and, of course, I will buy it again. In fact, I love Elizabeth Arden perfumes: they are very rich florals, they don’t tire, and they leave a fine and fresh trail.

  • Very rich… fresh and herbal… it transports you to a forest after the rain or to a country morning with the dew… it’s ideal for going to work or meeting friends. The only drawback is that the trail is very soft, making it more for personal enjoyment; I find it helps to apply it to my clothes too so the presence is more noticeable.

  • Very rich… fresh and herbal… it transports you to a forest after the rain or a morning in the fields with the dew… it is ideal for going to work or meeting friends. The only downside is that the sillage is very soft, which makes it a perfume for personal enjoyment only; it helps me put it on my clothes so it marks more.

  • It smells good without you exclaiming ‘wow, what a great perfume!’. It’s a citrusy and summery scent. It has good longevity, at least on my skin. It’s not elegant; I wouldn’t wear it for special occasions; in fact, it seems to me a rather vulgar smell, typical of cheap perfumery (which it is).

I think my bottle is the last reformulation because the longevity and sillage are risible – it doesn’t happen with my other perfumes. I can shower with it and only perceive an invisible trail a few minutes later. It’s a pity because I like it very much, but there are fresh waters or body sprays at the same price that last longer.

  • I was looking for the vintage Sunflower by Elizabeth Arden and the seller left me the Eau Fraiche to try. I looked at it with suspicion; it wasn’t vintage and I didn’t know it. With Elizabeth Arden I have a strange relationship: I love some and hate others. But… as soon as they sprayed the perfume, I felt a wet, sweet, and fresh kiss that reached my senses quickly like a wet forest after rain with freshly cut grass. That fragrant kiss broke my indifference and prejudices in an instant, inviting me to delve into its depths. First is that nostalgic green, wet, and sweet note that recalls the fresh scents of the 70s/80s. It is citrusy, but not with the bitter or harsh side of lemon (perhaps at the start), because soon the mint, narcissus, and prominent lily of the valley enter. The interesting thing is that over time, spicy notes appear in the base, slightly powdery, with soft touches of iris that give it originality. I tried to compare it with Eau de Rochas (1970), but the moss and spicy basil set it apart. Perhaps the closest is Eau de Givenchy (1980), although this one has grapefruit and lily root that differentiate it a bit, yet they are quite similar. Sincere: yes, I notice certain synthetic notes that don’t bother me and don’t detract from the reformulation. I imagine the original formula was more evocative, but I love it. I think this reformulation still casts a shadow over many current fresh fragrances. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

  • Does anyone know if it resembles the 1986 Eau Fraiche? My mother loved it, a fresh and clean floral scent, very rich. If it did, I would buy it again. I still remember the old one with its pink cap, opaque glass, and box of little flowers… This bottle is rather uglier, but if the juice is the same…

I confess I try many fragrances based on reviews, even if they aren’t usually my style, and I’m often surprised. I don’t detect any wetness or sweetness; instead, it smells like a bunch of dried herbs and flowers, bitter and apothecary-like. It’s a serene scent with a non-aquatic freshness. There are days when you don’t want to smell conventionally but rather use perfume as aromatherapy: I think Eau Fraiche is one of those. I advise against buying blindly despite the low price: many women will be disappointed because it’s unisex and won’t find it fresh and feminine. It evokes a woman retired in the countryside, far from the noise, in a country house at the end of summer or autumn, meditating, organising her life, and remembering who she is. Or, in the city, taking time to evoke the countryside and write childhood memories. I don’t understand the criticism of the bottle: it’s understated and simple, better than a kitsch. The container is as good as the contents, pun intended.

I confess I test fragrances based on reviews, not the notes, and they still surprise me. It doesn’t smell wet or sweet, but rather a bunch of dried herbs and flowers, bitter, like a chemist’s shop. A serene aroma with freshness that isn’t aquatic. If it weren’t for that lime and geranium opening, this would be almost a clone of Un Air de Samsara or Vol de Nuit. But that little detail changes everything, giving it that acidic touch that a narcissus and spice blend doesn’t need.
