  • I arrived late to leave my opinion, but I’ve finally put into words my thoughts on this masterpiece and, so far, the best woody fragrance I’ve tried. For those who insist that sandalwood is creamy, try this to break that stigma; here, the wood has far more richness. It’s warm, spicy, resinous, and with earthy touches. It’s an ode to this precious wood, a must-try. At least give it a try to experience a true exponent of woody fragrances.

  • My reference for sandalwood was always Guerlain’s Samsara or Old Bond Street’s aftershave, until Almah’s Santalum arrived and everything changed. What a different and extraordinary sandalwood! It was never a special note for me until this wonder elevated my sense of smell. If you love sandalwood, you’ll appreciate it with a very perceptible trail and projection of 6 to 8 hours with 4 sprays, and you’ll surely convince the sceptics.

Luckily, Almah with Santalum avoids the typical creamy sandalwood to exploit its woody and resinous facets, which is much appreciated among so many Santal 33-style perfumes. It’s a dry, resinous scent with camphorated and woody notes that some might find reminiscent of insecticide, but it’s a mature, deep sandalwood for those seeking to explore its balsamic facets, not for those looking for sweetness.

First time with such concentrated nature, and although the initial sharp herbaceous and spicy opening caught me a bit like Amouage’s Interlude, it fades within 5 minutes to reveal a dry, pure sandalwood with a mysterious floral touch. Jordi doesn’t build pyramids but rather a central DNA that evolves: from green and astringent to creamy, balsamic, and finally a dance of dark woods. It’s pure versatility for any season except heat, lasting about 5 hours on my skin with moderate projection. Edit: I’ve now got used to the opening; it’s driving me mad in the best way; you have to wear it to discover nuances of unctuous honey and freshness. The brand’s concept has convinced me, and I’m heading for the Discovery Set.
