Descripción

Sunset Yoko by Almah Parfums 1948 is a fragrance from the women's olfactive family. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by perfumer Jordi Magrans. In its opening, the scent unfolds with green tea, chestnut, cinnamon, and ginkgo; the heart reveals a harmony of black pepper, galbanum, lemon balm, and patchouli; while the base settles on myrrh, cedar, vetiver, and musk.

A very tasty and appealing fragrance. Although it is not original, it has something addictive that made me keep the 30ml bottle I bought blindly at a good price. The opening fascinates me: cinnamon and chestnut beautifully mixed with the fresh accord of tea. Within a minute, the structure changes to give way to black pepper and a marked green note, while the cinnamon and chestnut sweeten from the base; a lovely development. I don’t feel any patchouli. After five minutes, an imposing and elegant myrrh appears, highlighting the woody touch more. It is versatile, suitable for any climate and occasion. I feel it is compared to Poison Girl EDP, but they bear no resemblance (I have a 2017 batch prior to the reformulation). Poison Girl is more vanilla, sweet, and commercial, with almond and rose, things that Sunset Yoko does not have. Both have their charm. Something I want to highlight about Almah is the quality of their liquids: nothing synthetic, the oils are noticeable, and the skin looks radiant and hydrated. The atomiser is incredible, even better than the one on Guerlain’s LPRN bottles.

A beautiful perfume, perhaps with a slightly more feminine touch, but totally wearable by a man if he likes sweet scents. In Sunset Yoko, there is a balsamic and creamy sweetness, with a green hint from the tea and vetiver. It also stands out for its woody and spicy side, with cedar, patchouli, cinnamon, and chestnut very present. It is not original, but very tasty; it reminds me of sweet feminine perfumes like Good Girls by Carolina Herrera or Portrait of a Lady by FM, but without the rose. The longevity is good, and the projection is moderate. I would wear it daily in winter, but also on summer nights or in cool climates. Scent: 9, Longevity: 8, Projection: 6, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 8, Originality: 6, Overall: 8

  • It tastes good, but smells very much like other famous sweet perfumes and costs a fortune without offering better performance, so the value for money doesn’t convince me. To me, it sounds just like Dior’s Poison Girl, which I didn’t dare to buy due to the excess of sugar that eventually becomes boring, so this one won’t stay on my list either.

  • A truly delicious and addictive fragrance. Although it lacks originality, it has a hook that made me keep the 30ml bottle I bought blindly at a great price. The opening is fascinating: cinnamon and chestnut blend and balance beautifully, accompanied by the fresh touch of tea. Unfortunately, within a minute the structure falls apart to give way to black pepper with a quite marked green note; the lingering traces of cinnamon and chestnut sweeten everything from the base, creating a lovely development. As for patchouli, I don’t detect it. After five minutes, an imposing and elegant myrrh appears, with the woody note becoming more prominent over time. It is versatile, suitable for any climate and occasion. I’ve seen comparisons to Poison Girl EDP, but I couldn’t disagree more (I have a 2017 batch, prior to its last reformulation). Poison Girl focuses on vanilla, is sweeter and more commercial, plus it has almond and rose notes that Sunset Yoko lacks. Both have their charm, but in my opinion, they bear no resemblance to each other. One thing I want to highlight about Almah perfumes in general is the quality of their liquids: nothing feels synthetic; the oils are very noticeable, as once settled on the skin, the area looks radiant and even hydrated. The atomiser on their bottles is incredible; personally, scent takes second place, with the bottle quality being the first, rivaling the ones Guerlain uses for their LPRN.

A very beautiful perfume. Perhaps a bit more feminine, though perfectly wearable by a man, provided he likes sweet fragrances. In Sunset Yoko, we find a balsamic and creamy sweetness, slightly green, with the presence of green tea and vetiver. On the other hand, it has a woody and spicy side, with quite noticeable notes of cedar, patchouli, cinnamon, or chestnut. It is not an especially original perfume, but very tasty. It reminds me quite a bit of some feminine perfumes, though I can’t remember exactly which one. Perhaps I could say it fits in the sweet line of perfumes like Good Girls by Carolina Herrera or even has a somewhat similar character to Portrait of a Lady by FM, but with the floral rose part removed. The longevity is good, but the projection is moderate. I would use it daily in winter, although it could be a pleasant option on summer nights. Although I see it as more suitable for moderately cold climates, it doesn’t seem incompatible with moderately warm ones. Scent: 9, Longevity: 8, Projection: 6, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 8, Originality: 6, Overall: 8
