Descripción

Kowloon Bay by Almah Parfums 1948 is a fragrance from the olfactive family for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition is signed by perfumer Jordi Magrans. Its top notes of cassia, lemon grass, lime, and bergamot unfold a vibrant and fruity opening. The heart reveals a sophisticated blend of black tea, amber, anise, and gardenia, while the base settles with vetiver, nutmeg, and vanilla.

  • A great perfume full of personality and exclusivity. Its scent breaks the norm and surrounds you with an aura of mystery you can’t avoid. To me, it reminds me of a dawn in the countryside after a rainy day. Only for the daring who don’t want to smell like everyone else.

Citrus, cassia, and black tea over a green vetiver base. It’s creamy, green, and slightly rough. A rare, medicinal, and very original scent. I imagine that nutmeg and amber, or some unlisted balsamic note, give it a dark character, like burnt incense or styrax, with a background reminiscent of roasted coffee, similar to the sensation Perverso by Naruto gives me. It’s not my favourite fragrance and I wouldn’t use it daily, but I appreciate the quality and craftsmanship. The dry-down reminds me of Flamenco by Ramón Monegal: a lacquer-like scent in the base, but swapping the rose for cassia and removing the fruitier elements. The dry-down is much better than the opening; once it settles on the skin, the base notes start to emerge. It’s very dynamic on my skin, changing constantly, and it even makes me doubt if my sense of smell is going mad, feeling like I’m wearing different perfumes. It depends heavily on how close you smell it (more Perverso) or from a distance (more Flamenco). I’d use it at moderate temperatures for general wear. It could be a perfect signature scent to create a personal and recognisable aroma. Scent: 8, Longevity: 9, Projection: 8, Value for Money: 6, Versatility: 8, Originality: 9, Overall: 8.

Bloody hell! Reading the notes, you’d expect citrus, spices, and black tea with an oriental touch, but brace yourself because the opening is a beast: explosive, penetrating, and complex. It smells of burnt rubber, tar, and solvent, with a hint of gasoline mixing with something balsamic, perhaps citronella. It reminds me of freshly broken celery, low-growing shrubs, burnt wood, and spices you can’t quite identify. All this creates a very marked global note of black licorice. It softens gradually, but without losing its character or becoming pleasant. Anecdote: I wore it and my wife said it didn’t smell like perfume; it reminded her of Bangkok and that herb dish you serve with food, plus a touch of pollution (and she’s right). It’s a rare, unconventional, very masculine scent. Surely some daredevils are looking for this, but it gives me a headache. If you want to smell different, try it, but with caution.
