Today I tried Olympic Orchids and it’s a marvel, though not for everyone or every occasion; it’s very intense and the animalic note is very prominent. It reminds me of Sex & the Sea by Francesca Bianchi, but with a far more potent animalic charge. The longevity is excellent and the projection, while not reaching far, lasts all day forming a second skin with a perceptible tropical animalic aroma at close range. It’s very creamy. I see it more as a daytime scent for cold or temperate climates, although I could imagine wearing it with summer clothes while sipping a mojito on a beach terrace in the late afternoon. Beyond the obvious animalic and fruity notes, the ambergris and osmanthus are very noticeable. Straight into my wishlist! Scent: 8.5, Longevity: 9, Sillage: 7.5, Value for money: 7, Versatility: 6, Originality: 9, Overall: 9

It reminds me of Sex & the Sea by Francesca Bianchi but with a far more potent animalic charge. The longevity is excellent and the projection, while not reaching far, lasts quite a while, forming a second skin with a tropical animalic aroma perceptible at close range but accompanying you all day. The perfume is also very creamy. I find it more suitable for daytime than evening, for climates ranging from cold to temperate, although I could see someone in summer attire wearing this while enjoying a mojito on a beach terrace in the late afternoon. Apart from the evident animalic and fruity notes, for me the ambergris and osmanthus are also very noticeable. A perfume that goes straight into my wishlist! I detect no tropical fruit notes whatsoever; it’s entirely animalic with leather and a slight oily edge. There’s a honey-like sweetness, but it has nothing to do with Bianchi’s French scent or Hiram Green. It smells very dark, even with a salty touch. It’s interesting, reminiscent of high-extract perfumes and attars, but at a much more reasonable price.
