  • I loved it when I tried it and I still love it. It has something ‘dark’ that is fresh in summer and protective in winter. It is a pity it lasted so little on the market and now it can only be found online, without knowing how long it will be available. Edited: 4.5 out of 5.

I am glad that in a shop where I buy perfumes they gave me the tester of Absolu. It is a lovely fragrance. On my skin it smells of sweet figs; the balsam of Peru and benzoin are noticeable (both subtle)… a certain floral touch dominated by neroli, ‘behind the scenes’. The ingredients are very well harmonised, resulting in a distinguished fragrance, like a sparrow among a flock of doves. I hope I can get another bottle. For now, I will take care of my half tester 🙂

Very much in the style of YSL’s Nu and Dior Addict! I have two bottles and I treat them like sacred relics because they are not so easy to find anymore. It is a delight that also reminds me a bit of YSL’s Opium, perhaps due to the mandarin or how it projects. It is a beauty from Rochas, very distinguished and unique. It has a dry, powdery and creamy musk all at once. It was created with grace, style and character, as they used to do in the early 2000s. Its bottle was simple but the cap had a simple elegance. I hate with my soul that they discontinued these beauties or that, if they are still around today, they reformulate them with a dreadful sharpness; it was a supremely beautiful perfume.

  • What a find! Thanks to you, I’ve discovered another gem from Jacques Cavallier. To me, it smells almost identical to Boucheron’s Trouble, despite the ingredients not matching much. When I wear it, I feel like I’m flying; although it’s hard to source, which I don’t understand for such a work of art. Anyway, I highly recommend it.

  • What a marvel! Another gem from Jacques Cavallier thanks to you all. To me, it smells almost like Boucheron’s Trouble, despite the different ingredients; I am in a cloud when I wear it. Although it is hard to find, something I don’t understand with these works of art. Anyway, I recommend it highly.

  • It wasn’t a bad fragrance; perhaps it just lacked a bit of personality, far from the opulent resinousness promised on the card. Absolu wasn’t a bomb, but rather a soft infusion where echoes of what could have been still linger. That didn’t make it bad. It was discontinued quickly, probably because Rochas was already devalued at the time and didn’t know what to sell. At first, it felt both creamy and rough, like a fine fig leaf with a subtle hint of mandarin. Then it gained body without losing that softness, featuring undefined florals and resins reminiscent of a muted Alien by Mugler. In reality, it was delicious—a sensual, androgynous skin scent. Being by Cavallier, his signature is evident: delicate yet sensual, with a skin-like aftertaste and refined bedroom playfulness. It whispers, without extravagance, but it is terribly mysterious.

  • It wasn’t a bad fragrance; perhaps it lacked a bit of personality, far from the idea of opulent resins. Absolu wasn’t a bomb, but it had a soft infusion nature where hints of that potency remained. Not because it was bad. They discontinued it quickly, probably because at that time Rochas was already devalued and didn’t know what to sell. At first it felt creamy and rough at the same time, like a thin fig leaf with a very subtle touch of mandarin. Then it gained body without losing that softness, with floral effluvia and undefined resins that could recall a lighter Alien by Mugler. In reality, it was delicious, a sensual and androgynous skin scent. Being by Cavallier, his seal is evident: delicate but sensual, with a skin finish and refined bedroom games; they speak in whispers, without extravagance but terribly mysterious.

To me, it is enchanting: sober, elegant, distinguished… with just the right touch of musk, exactly as I like it. Although it is not a legendary fragrance from Rochas, I absolutely love it and would buy it if they relaunch it. I wonder if the house has gone to ruin or what is wrong with them, because with jewels like this, they discontinued it just as they did with Byzance, Alchimie, Mystère and Lumière. They say they closed down and sold four fragrances (Tocade, Femme, Muse and Madame) to an American firm who reformulated them and put them in simple bottles, nothing like the precious original flacons.

  • Brutal perfume; I don’t understand how they could have discontinued it. It has the class of the classics but with a scent that is incredibly modern; sweet yet without that praline or overripe fruit note. When I stumbled upon it in an old perfumerie, I can’t believe it. It reminds me a bit of Rochas’ Alchimie, which I also miss dearly.
