Moustache Eau de Parfum by Rochas

Time for my take: a spicy, vanilla, and amber blend. It opens with super-real pink pepper, as if you’ve just crushed it in your hand; spicy, fresh, and fruity all at once for about 10 minutes, with the mandarin adding body. The heart doesn’t really shine; cedar and rose sit in the background to round things off, not as protagonists but adding complexity. The base is the star: sweet, balsamic benzoin resin, addictive, with an unobtrusive vanilla that’s spicy and warm, plus a patchouli that gives a tobacco-like kick without actually being tobacco. The base lasts 6–7 hours. It smells a bit ‘old school’, not really for under 25 unless you’re rocking a smart outfit. Fixation is good, the trail is delicious but moderate, inviting people to come closer; on certain skin tones it smells ‘gentlemanly’, but women absolutely love it. Works well in cool or mild daytime weather; in autumn or winter evenings it lacks depth, but in spring (up to 25°C) or a spring evening it’s ideal. Goes well with casual or formal attire. It’s like literal spicy vanilla. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something different, versatile, and with that certain ‘something’ that attracts women. Quality, bottle, and experience are top-notch, and the more you use it, the more you’ll like it. Scent: 8.5/10, Price: 9.5/10, Versatility: 7/10, Trail: 5.5/10, Longevity: 6.5/10.

This scent is in a league of its own, better than what you’ll find in perfumeries nowadays. Elegant, seductive, and addictive: if you put it on the back of your hand, you can’t help but lean in to smell it. It has class, so you need to dress well to wear it. It’s subtle; it’s not meant to be a beast or overpowering. What it wants to do is invite you closer, to investigate where it’s coming from, because it’s a scent of closeness, of a hug, of intimate conversation. It’s true it doesn’t last eight hours, but four or five is perfectly fine, and if you take a decant and refresh, you’ll get all the compliments. Plus, on a summer evening it feels perfect. Perhaps among One Million, JPG, or Invictus you won’t even notice it, but that’s not its league; its league is elegance. I think it suits mature men over 35 better, and on a woman… I can imagine it and I don’t dislike it at all. In short, it’s a mature masterpiece that should be in any collection worth its salt.

I was going to write a review, but just below Esencio couldn’t put it better than I could. I subscribe to every word. It’s a perfume with a wonderful scent; in my opinion, few designer fragrances smell better than this, exactly as they are. No modern gimmicks, no trends, neither outdated nor old-fashioned. Perfect for any situation, season, day, night… But it’s a shame the performance is worse than mediocre, even with excessive sprays. The trail stays in a personal bubble, feeling quite decent for two hours, but by the third hour it drops sharply and by the fourth you can barely smell it at arm’s length. All this despite letting it macerate for two months with no improvement whatsoever. Its price fluctuates quite a bit and you can find it, remember the 75ml bottle, in a range of €20 to €40. In my case it was €30, but if you find it for €20 or so, I can recommend it if you’re looking for a perfume for intimate moments, friends’ gatherings, family time, or office work. If you find it from €30 upwards, I don’t see it as a good purchase at all, especially if you plan to wear it out unless you carry an atomiser and intend to empty half a bottle in a long night. PS: I haven’t seen any comments reflecting this and I’m surprised, but having also used Acqua di Gio Parfum and it being my favourite, I see quite a few similarities in their dry downs between these two. I suppose it’s due to the resins and patchouli both declare.

For those who like the DNA of the now discontinued YSL Tuxedo and know it, they’ll love it; for those who like that DNA but don’t know it, they can buy it blind. It’s not my style, but I can’t deny it’s a great fragrance for what it offers and the price it has. It has sophistication and elegance thanks to a patchouli sweetened with vanilla in a sober way, nothing strident. There are also other Arabic options even cheaper than this.

I’ve read all the reviews and it seems there’s nothing new to say 🥲. It’s an elegant men’s scent and totally different from today’s perfumes. Here you won’t find those typical notes of leather, lavender, amber, or incense. This is pure elegance, sophistication, and luxury of another level. ❌ Projection and longevity are scarce. Although we can’t complain about the price, you have to apply it generously and reapply. However, I think that gives it a touch of mystery: people feel something in the air but don’t smell it with full intensity. 𝙋𝘿: The first time I used it, I put on about 15 sprays. In less than 30 minutes I had already received three compliments (one man and two women). I was shocked, haha. I have at least 120 fragrances and I like using them all, so I don’t use Moustache much, but I should.

I bought this blind based on the good reviews and I absolutely have no regrets. It is very sophisticated, pleasant, and different from everything else I own. The composition is first-class. In terms of projection, it feels more intimate; if you don’t like to project loudly, this is for you. The bottle is pretty and the sillage is incredible. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but the longevity is short: at best half an hour with a strong scent, and from the third to the sixth hour it’s skin-only. For the price, I have no complaints, but when I wear it, I apply it several times a day. I wish it lasted longer. It makes you develop quite an attachment. For the price, it is delicious and high-quality; it seems like you’re wearing something worth three times as much. Totally recommended.

For me, better than the original, I have Tuxedo, but I prefer Moustache. My opinion: don’t spend €300 on Tuxedo when you can get a better one for €30. That’s what someone who only buys niche says.

A gem of perfumery that seems to be discontinued every day. I keep it like gold in a cloth; a backup is mandatory just in case. It is a softened, complementary version to Turathi Brown. Which one is closer to Tuxedo? No idea, I haven’t heard of it, but both are wonderful. They are earthy, slightly citrusy, with a very subtle sweet and chocolatey touch.

I think it’s a very good fragrance. I disagree with those who say it smells like an older person. My only objection is the longevity, really very short. Otherwise, the mandarin feels sophisticated and the scent is very rich.

Well, I have no reservations about this fragrance regarding performance or price, which is very convenient. Regarding longevity: if I apply it on skin or bed linen before sleeping, it’s still there when I wake up, so I’m satisfied. My problem is that it smells outdated, doesn’t it? Like an old person. Its sweet notes with vanilla and the floral base don’t give me a very masculine vibe. Perhaps in another 10 years.

I’ll be a hypocrite because I absolutely love it. I admit I look for different perfumes, not too commercial, but this Moustache has surprised me for the better. Excellent value for money for me. After two hours I’ve already received three compliments, and for the jealous ones: no, it’s not from the same person, and they are all under 37. Its trail is moderate, perhaps lower than I’d like. In terms of longevity, for now, I’m getting four hours and it still smells when I move. It’s not tiring, perhaps because it’s new. Honestly, I’ve loved it from the bottle to the fragrance.

Some comments I read here are unfair. This doesn’t smell like grandma, nor do some grandmas have such adventurous taste. It’s a perfume that works, but it’s not a marvel that will make women ask what you’re wearing; however, it is pleasant. You can’t expect more for the price paid; it delivers.

I was looking for a vanilla scent different from the ones I have; the only one with such a strong note in my collection is Khamrah Qahwa, which isn’t its main note either, so I sought this and the truth is it exceeded my expectations. Barely spraying it, it smells fresh yet warm and evolves wonderfully thanks to the pink pepper, feeling elegant but not too complex, which suits it well as less is more. As it dries down, it reminded me of Givenchy Reserve Privé, but without that slightly ‘plastic’ note the latter has; in Rochas, it smells softer and more pleasant, great even in summer for fresh days, definitely a good blind buy without regrets, and I look forward to winter to see its potential.

It’s true the price is a laugh, although I can’t find the vanilla anywhere. I do perceive the pepper and the rose everywhere, to the point where it becomes overwhelming. Don’t even think about wearing this in an enclosed space; it gives me a headache. But if you’re going out on the street at night and it’s cold, it’s very good. I see it as unisex and don’t think it’s for everyone, but considering the price, take the risk, but if you’re expecting a sweet gourmet fragrance, forget it.
