Descripción
Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo is a chypre fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou. The olfactory pyramid opens with top notes of violet leaf, coriander and bergamot; the heart reveals a harmony of rose, black pepper and lily of the valley; and the base settles on patchouli, bourbon vanilla and ambergris.

Tuxedo within the Le Vestiaire collection is a fresh, clean bomb with a sweet patchouli and spice base. Brilliant and impressive; I love the citrus notes and the violet at the start; the violet flower is exceptionally clean. The ambergris is almost perfect: clean, potent, and excellent. It’s elegant, neat, and easy to please. Its trail is beautiful and intriguing. It smells like a clean, new silk suit, simply and straightforwardly to beauty. Ideal for formal wear, work, or dates. The quality is first-rate. Versatile and I would buy it again. Scent: 9.5. Trail: 9.5. Longevity: 9.
If you took away my entire collection and I could only save one, it would be Tuxedo. Spectacular from start to finish, with quality that wraps around every minute. That blend of patchouli, ambergris, and flowers is fascinating. I know there are spectacular Arab perfumes at a good price, but with Tuxedo I pay for it because I haven’t found anything that reaches that level. It delivers on everything: longevity, projection, originality, and distinction. My absolute 10/10 score.
A proper perfume, versatile and classy (never to be worn with plastic trackies). It doesn’t go unnoticed, it’s not unpleasant, and leaves no one indifferent. Yes, Moustache has similarities, but only upon spraying; afterwards, they take different paths. It has complexity, naturalness, ingredients, and a well-rounded formula. Natural projection and class. It doesn’t belong on any shelf. It’s not the longest journey, like an Azzaro, but where it goes, it’s praised. If I could only keep one, today I’d say Tuxedo.
I love it; it’s one of my favourites for autumn, although it works all year round. What I detect most is ambergris; the other notes just add nuances. It’s a beautiful unisex scent, gorgeous, elegant, and cosy at the same time. I sense a sweet amber that isn’t cloying; I associate it with a hug or a caress. Every time a burst rises, it puts me in a good mood.
I adore this scent; it’s one of my favourites for autumn, though it works well in other seasons too. What I notice most is the ambergris; the other notes simply add nuances to my skin. I’m fascinated by it; it’s a stunning unisex beauty. It’s beautiful, elegant, yet cosy. I detect a sweet amber that isn’t cloying; I associate it with a hug or a caress… every time a burst of scent rises, I feel wonderful.
YSL Tuxedo is a niche perfume, full stop. Whoever created it knows how to enchant women. It’s seductive without being sweet, complex yet understandable and enjoyable for everyone… and all women. It doesn’t overwhelm, despite having that measured intensity. Floral but unisex and very attractive on a man’s skin. The perfect perfume for a date or to stand out at a meeting without raising your voice… olfactorily.
YSL Tuxedo: Without going into too much detail, just that despite what they say, it smells of ginger. It’s a very fine, subtle, elegant, and mischievous scent. It perfectly embodies that idea of refinement and glamour. It suits any gender. It’s not for pubs or clubs, but for a date with the intention of seduction. It’s the ideal bait to end the evening in style. It’s not a monster in terms of longevity, but it delivers. Scent: 10. Projection: Subtle but noticeable (2h). Longevity: 6h. Recommended.
It reminds me a lot of Tom Ford Noir, but it’s much less dark and, therefore, far more wearable. Imagine it as a Tom Ford Noir Sport: the same essence but with more air and less weight.
YSL Tuxedo: Not much more to say, though to me it smells of ginger, a detail that adds character. It’s a refined, elegant scent with class. It represents the very essence of glamour and is undoubtedly unisex. It’s not for bars or clubs, but for a date with predatory intent. It’s the perfect hook to end the night on a high note. Decent performance; not a beast, but it delivers. Scent: 10. Projection: Subtle but perceptible (2h). Longevity: 6h. Recommended.
I bought a decant before spending the full price, and few words can describe it: it’s a triumph! A high-quality niche fragrance, super sophisticated and seductive, shouting elegance and attitude. Intense notes of black pepper and spices radiate sensuality, while iris and geranium soften the blend. The woody and leather base gives it that distinguished masculine touch. Ideal for events where you want to make a difference. Totally recommended!
This perfume was love at first sniff: elegant but with presence. Its rose and pepper note gives a sting that combines with the patchouli and amber; it’s a delight. Personally, it was love. There are clones or inspirations that might give you an idea, but nothing compares to the original. It’s like tasting a mango tango and natural mango water: it tastes like mango, but the natural one leaves a more pleasant sensation. It’s the same here. AROMA: 10 ROUNDABOUT. Longevity: 8 hours. Trail: 8 hours. Ease of compliments: LOADS!
A Gentleman perfume with class and impressive quality. The first impression is that it stings my nose a lot, too much pepper for me. I felt a strong aroma of fine liquor, like whisky, not sure if that note actually exists. It lasts an eternity, a wonder. Completely masculine.
What a dry-down is this, mamma mía?
A 10 out of 10 perfume, formal and spectacular. Recommended. It’s expensive, but worth it; it’s in my top 3 of perfumes.
Considering everything, it could be one of the best modern aromas from YSL and draws a lot of attention, but beware: do not buy it at full price without trying it first. Longevity and performance are problematic, something that unfortunately does not do justice to this great perfume. It seems that as prices rise, performance falls. Tuxedo has an incredibly subtle subtlety. The aromatic concept is noticeable in other perfumes, but the harmony of the notes provokes a rare longing in me. The opening is wonderfully spicy and sweet, almost drinkable, but then it calms down. The woody patchouli complements the sweet vanilla and the dusty, heavy rose very well. The spicy note, highlighted by the violet leaf, provides contrast with the vanilla and rose. I love that the ingredients are so well balanced. It exudes elegance and lightness, suitable for any situation and place. It’s light for daily life but not so intense for a special date. I’m furious that YSL didn’t try harder; they almost overlooked it. It could have been better. I think this will be the first time I try it with a clone.
I sense a snowdrop in the unlisted dry-down, and I’m not sure if there’s even a millimetre of cacao.
I stumbled upon Tuxedo out of curiosity. Being from the most exclusive line, I was eager to test its sophistication. The idea of a perfume that emulates the bearing of a tuxedo caught my attention, and it did not disappoint. The opening is a vibrant blend of black pepper and coriander, something dry and sophisticated, nothing of the typical citrus. With time, the patchouli softens the spice with a sweet touch of amber. The best part is how it changes on the skin: it starts spicy and becomes warm and enveloping. In the middle, the rose and leather add depth without being cloying, something I value greatly. Balance is key; nothing dominates too much. The longevity is moderate, around six hours, with an elegant but non-invasive trail. It doesn’t shout, but declares style in silence. Compared to others from the brand, like Cuirs, it’s more versatile: it works well from formal dinners to casual outings. It shines in cold or mild climates. In summary, it maintains elegance without being predictable. If you’re looking for something sophisticated and balanced, it’s worth it. If you have occasions to wear it, yes. If you’re seeking something more daring, try a decant first. Don’t buy blindly; it deserves analysis of all its phases.
On smelling it, the first thing I notice is patchouli, then vanilla. The opening is strong, a bit herbal, but only for a few minutes. As it dries, it truly shines: the vanilla is exquisite. It smells clean and projects presence. It goes great with a suit (hence the name), though it also works with jeans and a shirt. Perfect for fresh or cold climates; I couldn’t bear it in summer. It lasts about seven hours, but doesn’t project much, more of a personal bubble. Very well balanced, neither common nor overly sweet. I don’t see it for someone very young, but yes if you dress well. The bottles in this line are beautiful. If you work in an office or live dressed up, it’s worth having.
A magnificent, elegant, and sophisticated fragrance… what more is there to say? A man wearing this is truly a gentleman of class.
Perfumon, elegant, sophisticated… what more can I say? The man who wears this is truly a gentleman with class.
I’d heard so much about this perfume, and when I tried it at Palacio de Hierro, my goodness, what a shock. It’s incredible from the very first second to the very end: elegant, sophisticated, and super masculine. Its evolution is complex, and that note of ambergris as it dries is simply spectacular. A 10 for this YSL masterpiece.
POWERFUL GOD, WHAT BEAUTY!!! It smells divinely exquisite, it smells like a very well-made perfume, made with love, lots of love, like a fine artisan perfume who loves to leave a piece of their life in pursuit of refined and polished perfection. That rose with traces of patchouli, violet leaves, a powerful burst of bergamot, and the spiciness of black pepper with the potency of a regal coriander was everything I noticed. No sweetness at all, just a rugged tone of a woody forest that invokes the beauty of petrichor on a rainy afternoon, it smells like a dry tone redundantly sensual. It is not a timid aroma that comes to pose as humble, it is to open the door big time. It oozes sophisticated elegance absolutely in the most total and decisive way! It reminds me so much of my beloved NU from this same house and my adored ABSOLU by Rochas, they are very similar.
ONLY ONE SENTENCE WITH LE VESTIARE: ‘AMOOOOOOOO! THEIR ENTIRE LINE IS SIMPLY PERFECTION’ AND TUXEDO IS THE BEST FRAGRANCE WITH PATCHOULI/VANILLA & AMBER THAT CAN POSSIBLY EXIST IN LIFE!!!!!! Balanced, extremely elegant, sexy, timeless, versatile. Mr Perfume has everything I could possibly love in one well-made perfume🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 IT WILL NEVER LEAVE MY SIDE This can be used by men and women and it shines and turns your skin into something magical and hyper sexy. This entire line lives up to its name: It dresses the skin in elegance and exclusivity. If you can manage to get all of them WITHOUT A DOUBT 10 out of 10!!!! I have absolutely fallen in love with them all 😍
wooooooowww!!!! nothing else passed!!!! no more references, from another planet 🪐
Imagine an elegant wedding night. Not yours, but that of a dear friend. You arrive driving your classic sports car, sober and with history. You wear an impeccable black suit, a starched white shirt, and a watch that doesn’t try to impress, it simply marks the time as one who knows that what matters arrives when it must. You pass your girl, who still surprises you with cheeky comments from time to time. She is as elegant as you: without excess, without effort. She is beautiful because she is genuine. Tuxedo smells like that moment. In the church, at the reception, in every conversation, your presence is felt without seeking it. It is not a noisy perfume, it does not shout. It has that trail of amber, patchouli, and spices that does not fit in passing fads or repeated formulas. It smells of luxury, yes, but of the luxury of one who has clarity. Of the wealth of one who does not need to prove anything, because they have understood everything. At midnight, they walk together through the city centre. The cobblestones, the warm lights, the shadows of ancient sculptures. She takes off her heels and laughs barefoot on the cold marble, while you look at her with that half-smile that reveals not so much but says everything. It is a bit cold, but you are warm. Your scent too. She moves closer to you not just out of affection, but because what you emanate attracts her more than any word. That is Tuxedo: Elegance without an expiry date. The magnetism of sobriety. The clarity of one who knows who they are and does not need to explain themselves. Classic? Perhaps. But calling it classic reduces it. Tuxedo is timeless. Like art, like old streets, like love that still keeps its mysteries.
My favourite from the YSL Private Collection. It is an arresting men’s perfume. Lots of patchouli plus vanilla, especially the vanilla in the dry-down. There are other floral touches in between that soften the intensity and roughness of the dry patchouli, and a pepper that gives it the characteristic spice on the nose, but above all, you will smell patchouli plus vanilla. And it ends up exquisite. That said, for me this is 100% masculine and quite versatile if you don’t live in a very hot place. A perfume I will never get tired of wearing. In summary: Scent: 10 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 7.5
Smells like cheap perfume for an older lady. I don’t comprehend the hype. This is the first time this has happened to me with a ‘niche’ perfume. Normally, even if I don’t like them, I understand where they are heading; not with this one.
10 out of 10
Well, it left me a bit puzzled… Certainly, it has very marked similarities with Moustache, but the ever-present patchouli and the price make me prefer the other. It opens bright, spicy, with violet as the star. Soon I sense the pepper (I would have bet on it being rose), a non-cloying vanilla, and the king of the fragrance: patchouli. On my skin, it perhaps stands out too much. I understand why others like it, but perhaps due to the violet and patchouli, I repeat that I stick with the other. I’d say I find it a bit loud. I thought I would like it more, to be honest. On the other hand, the performance-to-price ratio is very unfavourable. It lasts very little, it disappears quickly on my skin. Semi-formal, unisex. Quite versatile. Autumn, winter, and fresh spring days.
Exquisite. Ideal if you tend to dress formally. The patchouli and pepper are very prominent, giving it a spicy touch. The dry-down is sexy vanilla. Suitable for those 25 and over.
If you already own Moustache EDP, Tuxedo feels somewhat redundant as they smell almost identical, though Moustache has a slightly more metallic edge. To be honest, neither of them really sticks with me.
