I’m fairly certain it contains calypsone, a molecule I adore. In Bois Flotté, the fruity and fresh nuances stand out, reminding one less of a forest and more of a floating watermelon. There are tiny salty points that add depth and a certain darkness, alongside a very soft, creamy sweetness deep in the base.

I really enjoyed lapuertaenelojo’s review, but I’ll add something: I’ll drop the mystery and start from the end. It’s another masterpiece from L’Occitane en Provence. However, the same problem persists: the performance, which is even worse for an Eau de Parfum. Returning to the scent, I must confess that I’ve finally found a fragrance where I can truly appreciate that elusive salty note. I’ve finally isolated it. For me, it’s a clear parallel to how marine notes (algae, unlisted ozonic notes) and coastal notes (herbs, wet woods) work in houses like Issey Miyake. An unambiguous masterpiece. My complaint remains the performance. Just like with Olivier Ondé, I tested this sibling on blotter and skin, and it didn’t last past an hour. Furthermore, the trail stays right on the skin. PS: I’ll give it another try under different conditions. I’m not giving up because it’s the kind of scent I love.

  • I absolutely loved it, although it’s not for everyone. It smells exactly of wood, salt, and algae. It’s tremendously realistic, far more so than the Margiela Replica scents. It reminded me of a walk along a small beach surrounded by forest in some village in Cantabria on a grey day, with low tide and seaweed on the shore. It smells just like that. If you’re looking for that specific scent, this is your fragrance. In my case, I adored it and have already purchased it.

It smells strongly of rosemary and algae; it’s not for everyone, but it feels great in the heat, at the beach, or in cool places. The longevity isn’t bad if you apply six to eight sprays; the trail is sufficient for at least the first two hours. After that, it fades considerably, becoming almost unnoticeable, and lingers only on the fabric. As is often the case with this brand, it’s a bit pricey in Latin America regarding value for money. Later, I bought Le Sel by Issey Miyake and noticed a similarity; they share nearly 80% of their notes, but this one features rosemary and green notes, whereas Le Sel opens with ginger. If I had to choose, I prefer Le Sel because it lasts longer, is more versatile, and avoids that medicinal rosemary scent that many dislike.

  • It completely took me by surprise; I’ve already bought a second bottle. It’s rare to find something that smells this good yet remains so uncommon. Imagine walking along the beach with that blend of salt and wet wood; it’s exquisite. It lasts about six hours and clings to your clothes until you wash them.

  • It’s the freshness of summer and spring, but it holds up well on autumn days if it’s not too cold. I wouldn’t recommend it for evening wear, except perhaps on cool summer nights. Thanks to it, I’ve started to appreciate salty and marine scents. It’s a gem, but the performance leaves something to be desired; it’s not bad, but I’d love for it to last longer. Note that it changes depending on the season. Buy it on sale because at full price there are other options. I’d recommend it for almost everything, except super-formal or super-casual events. It’s best enjoyed smart-casual, with comfortable yet light clothing.
