  • I love this fragrance: a strong, green orange, as if it contained the peel, the leaf, the branch, and even the root of the orange tree. Slightly bitter, with hints of grapefruit peel (which it does not contain) and lots of bergamot. It is a fresh, acidic summer kiss. As a good artisanal cologne, its longevity and trail are medium to low. On my skin it lasts two to three hours, only close to the skin, so I add a little just under the nose. Nevertheless, it is a must-have; the quality of its ingredients is extremely high.

  • The best eau de cologne. Sparkling, cheerful, fresh, sophisticated, classic without being old, it definitely bears the Hermès stamp. Unlike other fresh and classic fragrances, this does not feel common; on the contrary, it is quite complex. It truly smells of freshly cut oranges, with a herbal undertone, something ‘watery’. I use it for summers, ideal for hot days or after a refreshing shower. It is a classy cologne that, due to the quality of its ingredients, lasts around four hours on my skin and is perceived close to the skin. A masterpiece by Hermès.

  • Personally, it truly smells like an orange grove (I lived in one). It is true that it has an excellent citrus aroma; however, its fixation is low. I consider it suitable for a very intimate date. EXCELLENT.

I bought this cologne about six or seven years ago because I simply couldn’t resist seeing it for three or four pounds in a second-hand shop. At the time, I knew little about perfumes, but I was familiar with the Hermès design house. As an unconditional lover of oranges, I thought it would suit me, but it turned out to be too masculine. I gifted it to my father, and I laughed a lot because he does not care whether it is a litre cologne or Hermès; he sprays them all on liberally! He was absolutely perfumed! I mean, like a proper gentleman. I remember it was a lovely, very intense, robust, rough, and reviving scent. It was citrus, woody, and green. I do not know why my father would perfume himself before going out, but the longevity was not my problem.

  • Eau D’Orange Verte is not merely an attempt to please; it is an olfactory journey. The bitter orange note is the most realistic I have ever tried; upon spraying, the house of Hermès presents that fruit from the very first flash of lemon, bergamot, and orange blossom. Within seconds, it transforms into an intense, elegantly mentholated orange that lingers for hours. At its heart, moss and subtle touches of patchouli lend it a unique character. It is a first-class citrus and herbal sensation, both in concept and in the quality of its materials. It is refreshing like most citrus colognes, yet Hermès imbues it with its own character, creating connections to previous scents while widening the difference with its personal, relaxing, and enveloping touch. The herbal and woody side is explored more in the 2004 Concentré version, whose longevity is surely greater for that reason. It is an excellent re-creation by Jean-Claude Ellena, taking as its base the original Eau de Cologne by Françoise Caron. The longevity is weak, but the journey is worth it.
