Descripción

Land by Lacoste Fragrances is a spicy aromatic fragrance for men, created in 1991 by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena. The composition unfolds with a fresh and vibrant top of bergamot and lemon, leading into a spiced and woody heart featuring black pepper, clove, and sandalwood. The base rests on a warm and persistent blend of vetiver, patchouli, and musk, consolidating a robust and masculine structure.

  • I own a bottle from the first edition and another from just before it was discontinued (around 2006, though I’m not entirely sure). The concentration and composition never changed. For me, it remains the best ‘green’ fragrance since the 1970s, with ingredients that create that humid forest and old wood aura. The interaction between the oakmoss and vetiver is perfect. I miss it dearly. I still haven’t found anything comparable, even after trying scents with nearly the same formula. It’s baffling that such things disappear, though it’s not the only case. I remember it was peculiar that some people had never heard of it, while others could recognise it from a distance and say… ‘You’re wearing Land… aren’t you?’. Its launch in the 90s coincided with other standout fragrances with better marketing, possibly the reason for its limited penetration. From the box and bottle, you could tell there was something special. It gave an air of success and a certain allure that made the female sector take more interest in the wearer, especially if dressed appropriately. Absolutely masculine without excess. If they were to produce it again, it would be my go-to fragrance. Perhaps more suited to winter than summer, but it always had a wonderful effect. With a notable longevity of around eight hours and a moderate sillage, it was worth its price. Lacoste has never had anything quite as remarkable since, even counting their latest releases.
