I came across Eduardo’s review on My Scent Journey and I want to try it FOR SURE.
The opening is hinoki, very potent, green and oily; you can smell the coriander. It’s linear until it starts to fade. The metallic notes aren’t the most remarkable for me; it smells of forest and ambergris, the leather gives an animal touch without being as intense as civet. In the dry down, you notice the musk and patchouli in the background, adding warmth. It’s not elegant; it’s sharp but not dirty, perhaps too green for some. The projection isn’t crazy in reach, but at half a metre, it projects very intensely. The effect is living in a forest disconnected from the world.
It’s something that doesn’t smell like anything else. It’s an introspective experience; that metallic note reconstructs the scent of blood without being unpleasant, but recognisable, accompanied by leather and herbs that give a strange relationship between wild and elegant. I had a decant and enjoyed it immensely. It lasted quite a while in decant: 1. because it’s not for any moment, but special occasions to draw attention. 2. Because it’s scandalous and a little goes a long way. Recommended for those who want to experiment with something uncommon.
Neanderthals lived in the Palaeolithic with extreme cold; Christian Carbonell tries to evoke that cave smell, leather, ambergris, green leaves, and frozen woods, and in my case, he achieves this goal as few fragrances do. It doesn’t evolve, it stays harmonious, and that icy scent lightens the intensity; without a doubt, it’s a new olfactory experience that you’ll like or not, but you must try it at least once. Top notes: hinoki, galbanum, coriander, and violet. Heart: metallic notes and lily. Base: ambergris, leather, musk, cedar, and patchouli. Perfumer: Christian Carbonell. Era: timeless; warm is best. Projection: invades the room. Longevity: about 14 hours.
Terrible, one of the worst perfumes I’ve ever smelled. My dad says it smells like a ‘bad man’ or a villain. He doesn’t dislike it as much as my mum and I do, but seriously, it’s the one I’ve liked the least. I suggest trying it first in a decant before buying it.
Terrible, one of the worst I’ve ever tried. My dad says it smells like a ‘villain’, and while he doesn’t mind it as much as my mum and I do, it’s genuinely the one I’ve disliked the most. I’d suggest trying a decant before buying it.
I went in with high expectations because hype and influencers were selling it as the daily bread, so I opted for a decant to avoid risking my skin. Truth be told, the first impression left me a bit cold; I couldn’t quite catch those praised notes of frozen cavern, but I noticed the cedar, coriander, and above all, that metallic touch, which is brutal. It reminds me of a virgin forest in spring (I would have preferred winter). That metallic note doesn’t smell of blood or anything strange, but rather of river stones; it’s dirty yet clean. It lacks much evolution, it comes out and stays there. It’s interesting and wild, but unfortunately, it’s just a walk through the woods. Although it’s ultra-niche and rare, it can be worn in certain formal contexts, but for a signature or daily wear, it’s complicated and not for everyone.
