  • I tried it and thought: ‘I’ve heard this before, but where!’. After thinking about it, I realised: it can’t be. I put Atomicé on one hand and Duro by Nasomatto on the other. It wasn’t intentional, but they smell just as strong. If you like Duro, take this into account.

Well, it happened to me just like with the previous one: I thought I’d already smelled it, but this one smells much spicier. It’s the Shade Wood by Armaf, and to be honest, it just doesn’t work for me at all.

Same thing happened with the previous review: I thought I’d already smelled it, more spicy. It’s Shade Wood by Armaf. Personally, I don’t like this scent.

  • Bought it blind and have no regrets. At first, it smells fresh and spicy, very clean, almost like hyper-pure lavender (I suppose it’s the saffron). My wife said it smells like ‘fabulous’, that Mexican cleaner, but with affection; it reminded me of Drakkar Noir with that lavender cleanliness and that eighties leather. This lasts 10-20 minutes. Then it changes completely: it leaves the freshness for softened leather with sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and a smoky touch of oud. Reminded me of TF’s Ebené Fumé, just the DNA, not a clone. I love it, it’s very masculine; I’d wear it with a leather jacket and black boots. I haven’t heard of the originals, but if it resembles Duro, it’s worth it at $29. Sillage and longevity are modest, but for the price, you can’t ask for more. Not for gifting, but to feel powerful and rugged. It will be my nightwear scent this winter 2023.

  • Bought it blind and have no regrets. Fresh and spicy opening, smells like hyper-clean lavender (perhaps due to the saffron). My wife said it smells like that fabulous Mexican cleaner, but in a pleasant way; it reminded me of clean, deep Drakkar Noir. This phase lasts 10-20 minutes. Then it shifts to softened leather with sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and a smoky touch of oud. Reminded me of TF’s Ebené Fumé, just the DNA, not a clone. Sillage and longevity are modest, but for the price, nothing more is expected. Not for compliments, but to feel powerful and rugged. It will be my nightwear scent this winter 2023.

  • What a fragrance; I’m not a fan of Lattafa, but my favourites are New York Intense by Nicolai and Ganymede by Marc Antoine Barrois. I’ve used a lot of Air du Desert by Tauer and Carved Oud by Thameen. Total surprise: the chemical quality is ridiculous, yet it smells incredible. The opening is shocking, but within 15-20 minutes the magic appears. Hands down, a surprise. Dare you to try?

  • Smells like mothballs, it’s awful. I’m not sure whether to leave it out to ward off spiders or just throw it away straight away. Terrible blind buy.

  • Polydistortion

Best car air fresheners exist, and this isn’t one of them. It smells like grandma’s ointment, motor oil, and expired medicine. No fragrance whatsoever, pure disappointment.

  • Polydistortion

I have better car air fresheners. It smells like an oil lamp product, like the ointment my grandmother used when I was ill, like automotive oil or expired medicine. It smells like everything but perfume.

  • Strong projection, exquisite dry down. It reminds me in large part of Mancera’s Aoud Vanille. It lasts a long time.

At first, the oud comes out, but then the dry-down is musky (though not declared), more leather and a very slight sweet vanilla note. The spices aren’t heightened, no need to be alarmed. It seems masculine at the start, but then it’s unisex; ladies who can handle that provocative oud opening will wear it well. It’s not gourmand or sweet, but elegant and original, worthy of its price, something you won’t find in that segment. It’s a semi-Arabic type for someone already a bit immersed in that taste. They say it’s difficult, but I don’t think so, now that many are more comfortable with the Arab vibe. Give it a chance, smell it; it’s one of the house’s older launches, which are getting forgotten by the new ones.

The spices aren’t over the top, no need to be alarmed. It seems masculine at the start, but later it’s unisex; I see it as totally wearable for ladies who can handle that provocative opening of the oud. It’s not gourmand or sweet, but elegant and original, worthy of its price, something not found in that segment. It’s a semi-Arabic type for those already somewhat immersed in that taste. They say it’s difficult, but I don’t think so, now that many are more comfortable with Arabic perfumery. Give it a chance, smell it. • Totally disappointed. I let myself be guided by the described notes and it turns out to be horrible. Nothing is saved even in the dry down. Although I got it for less than 300 euros, I feel it’s too expensive for what it offers. I’ll leave it in my collection, alongside the Oud Mood Reminiscence, which I prefer 100%.

  • Totally disappointed. I let myself be guided by the described notes but it smells horrible. In my opinion, nothing is redeemable even after it dries down. I got it for less than $300 and feel it’s too expensive for what it offers. I’ll leave it only as a collection piece alongside the Oud Mood Reminiscence, which I prefer 100%.

  • Horrible! Nothing is redeemable in this scent. I even thought my bottle had been adulterated, as I don’t understand how something that is supposed to be perfume can smell so unpleasant…

  • Marvellous! One of my favourites. Upon smelling it, I thought of Rosendo Mateu’s Fresh Oud. It smells like authentic oud, though at this price it’s impossible. It’s not for the general public or the Westerner, but for oud lovers or connoisseurs. The oud is slightly animalic, but without stable, medicinal, or ugly smells; it’s not like The Night by Frederic Malle or Alexandria Orientale by Xerjoff. It won’t bring many compliments, it’s for smelling it yourself up close. It’s a fragrance centred on oud, though it says it carries leather, saffron, amber, or nutmeg. At this price, it’s one of the best ouds on the market. A great hit by Lattafa. I recommend it to anyone wanting to delve into complex fragrances and move away from the mainstream.

  • Marvellous, one of my favourites. The first time I smelled it, it reminded me a lot of Rosendo Mateu’s Fresh Oud. It smells of authentic oud, although at this price it’s impossible for it to be so. It’s not intended for the general public or the Westerner, perhaps for lovers of oud or those knowledgeable about the oriental style. Although the oud is slightly animalic, it doesn’t smell of a stable, medicine or faeces; it’s not like The Night by Frederic Malle or Alexandria Orientale by Xerjoff. Nor will it bring you many compliments; it’s for you to smell it and feel it close to your skin. Its central theme is the oud; although it lists leather, saffron, amber or nutmeg, the oud dominates. At this price, it’s one of the best oud fragrances on the market. A great success by Lattafa. I recommend it to anyone who wants to delve into complex fragrances and move away from the mainstream.

I bought it blindly on price and notes, thinking it would be ideal for autumn and winter, but it’s simply not an aroma I like. I’ve given it several tries and it still doesn’t work. The opening has a very chemical synthetic oud, and the saffron gives it a metallic touch that, combined with nutmeg, is unpleasant. Over time, the suede, amber and vanilla mix with that, but they still don’t give any sense of comfort. It is an oriental, yes, but not for me.

It has an opening with a very chemical synthetic oud, and the saffron gives it a metallic character which, combined with the nutmeg, isn’t to everyone’s taste. After some time, the suede, amber and vanilla mix with the oud and saffron, but they still don’t give a sense of comfort. It is an oriental fragrance, without a doubt.

  • It was my first Lattafa and I loved it. It’s not for everyone: nutmeg dominates with a touch of acidic saffron and a strong oud. When dry, it smells of vanilla with oud. The projection is moderate, about two metres, sometimes people smell it from the other room depending on the weather. It lasts around 5 hours on skin. Definitely smells delicious, despite people criticising that it smells like Blue Cheese, which has nothing to do with it!

  • thesongofhecate

It’s the first fragrance I’ve bought and it makes me sick. When I apply it, it smells like vomit, although it smells better in the dry down. However, I won’t keep it because I won’t use it. From now on, I hate oud wood, even though in the Oud Voyager by Tom Ford and other perfumes where it was the star, I did like it.

  • thesongofhecate

The first one I bought and it made me gag; upon application it smelled like vomit, although it improved once it dried down. I won’t keep it as I won’t wear it. From this point on, I hate oud wood, although I used to like it in Tom Ford’s Oud Voyager and others where it was the star.

  • Powerful and complex scent, nothing easy to wear. It starts strong with spices like saffron and nutmeg, but soon an animalic oud takes over, smelling of a stable and quite hard to endure. Over time it softens a little thanks to the amber and vanilla, though that wild character remains. It lasts a long time, around 9 or 10 hours, and is impossible to ignore. It’s a mature fragrance, not for the young; although marketed as unisex, it leans more towards men. It’s made for those who love dark and intense aromas, not for daily use. For me, it’s one of the most difficult I’ve tried and I didn’t like it at all. Rating: 4/10.
