Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men. Launched in 1995, this composition was created by Annie Buzantian and Alberto Morillas. The top notes unfold with mint, bergamot, grapefruit, and lavender; the heart reveals Granny Smith apple, blueberry, and rose; while the base notes complete the structure with cotton flower, cactus, and amber.

Fresh super clean aquatic for summer excellent in the heat. A perfume that demonstrates cleanliness elegance and quality with a duration of almost 5-6 hours and a projection of 1. It goes excellent for everything as it’s very versatile suitable for the office school parties casual outings formal or informal events or for everyday wear.

  • After using it for a year I can say it’s a very good option; you can’t go wrong with this perfume. It’s good for summer and although you won’t stand out you’ll smell good and you might even get a compliment or two. Casual and youthful you can use it on many occasions though if you want something more elegant and formal better look elsewhere. The only thing to keep in mind is that the mint and citrus in the opening are quite strong and might give someone a couple of sneezes (me for example); from then on it’s all good. It doesn’t project the most or last the longest (though you can smell it on your skin by the end of the day) but it’s fine. Recommended if you don’t want to complicate things too much and just want to smell good.

  • Very surprised with this fragrance. I was looking for something for daily wear fresh and versatile; it was one of the ones recommended in the shop and I didn’t know it. I tested it on my skin for a while and had to come back for it. It has a very fresh opening and I don’t know how to explain it I’d say ’90s’ but without seeming old; in fact it seems youthful. In my case after 6 hours I’m still getting bursts of the scent so the longevity has surprised me quite a bit. As for occasions I’m wearing it in the cold and it seems to fit perfectly because of that soft sweetness without being cloying. And the price doesn’t even reach half of most fragrances. I’ve had it for over a month and I’m delighted; I recommend it enormously for the scent longevity projection and price!

Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. The perfume I’ve owned most often surely. It was the boom at the start of the 2000s. Everyone had one. It had that quintessential American ‘preppy’ aesthetic. Although Tommy Hilfiger had earlier fragrances I believe this was the main reason the brand became known in other parts of the world. The bottle was transparent with a clean aesthetic that broke with the loudness of others. A fresh sharp fragrance with a citrus and mentholated aroma. Although it wasn’t a miracle for longevity and trail everyone asked what I was wearing. When I first put it on I couldn’t stop smelling it. It was addictive. I recommend it for any teenager or young person. To wear with nautical shoes bermudas and a linen shirt. Ideal for summer. Rating: 10/10.

I first encountered it at the end of 1999 thanks to a colleague and budding friend in my first year of university. Sergio always wore it; it was his signature. It complemented his personality perfectly. He was such a confident man bordering on arrogance. No one else in class smelled like that. Nor did anyone have such a clear vision of life as he did believing it was for the brave. Mesmerised by that scent one day I asked him what perfume he used. He confessed without hesitation. He didn’t tell me not to buy it. We both knew I wouldn’t because Tommy belonged to him. Because Tommy was him. I bought it exactly twenty years later in a moment of nostalgia. Life’s darker corners caused my friendship with Sergio to slowly fade until it became almost a mirage. Today I still find it hard to believe that time has laid low the indelible moments we shared even though despite the vertigo we were able to jump that infinite and uncertain wall of twenty. That is why I have Tommy now and I wear it from time to time. To feel eternally young and elegant. To become that university student again from the countryside lost in the city. To remember my friend Sergio and prevent forgetfulness from winning the game definitively. Because Tommy whispers in my ear that I still have a whole life ahead of me.

It’s a simple fragrance with a very pleasant scent; no one has ever told me it smells ‘bad’. I held it dear because it was my first perfume mainly because it’s not too expensive. The truth is it doesn’t last long and you have to spray it quite a few times but apart from that it’s incredible for everyday summer wear.

I’ve tried hundreds of fragrances; some stayed and others didn’t make me feel what I was looking for. Tommy is one that stayed because it has everything: good longevity on my skin, a balanced masculine scent, totally versatile. If I had to keep just one affordable fragrance, it would be this Tommy; it makes me feel clean, energetic and very manly. I simply love it!

  • I remember buying it in 1997 at secondary school at Fraiche and oh, what a wonder! And last year I bought the original to remember that time. I wear it to sleep, smell it and remember when I was 13. I’m 40 now and it always puts a smile on my face, it’s wonderful.

  • Beautiful and timeless scent reminiscent of the 90s but still holding its own with that distinctive Morillas twist. The truth is it doesn’t smell quite the same anymore; reformulations have taken something away and now it doesn’t last as long though it remains very personal. I hope letting it breathe for a few months will improve it.

  • I like it very much; you can tell the mint the citrus and the lavender occasionally. It smells clean and lasts about 4 or 5 hours. It’s wonderful for hot days.

  • I absolutely love this perfume. The mint is very noticeable but not overpowering. It lasts all day with a lovely trail. Totally summery.

  • Tomygalvan

It was my first branded perfume given to me as a teenager. And today, at 36, a bottle of Tommy cannot be missing from my collection. Rich, simple, for daily use and above all, it brings back good memories.

  • One of the perfumes I smelled when I was at secondary school… more than 20 years ago and I still like it, even though it feels very dated compared to so many new scents, but it’s cheap so I bought it for my children. It doesn’t last as long, but honestly, I’ve found it very cheap.

  • I always used my dad’s perfumes; I remember one I loved called ‘Seaward’ by Herbalife, the one I stole most often. But when I left primary school, my proud mum gave me my first perfume. Of all the options, this Tommy was exactly what I was looking for: fresh, present, modern and pleasant. I took great care of it, didn’t want to use it up, but it ran out. I often think about the effort my mum made, as the financial situation wasn’t easy. As a tribute, I always keep one in my collection to remember that the greatness of a fragrance sometimes depends more on the story accompanying it than its composition. Edit: smelling it makes me feel close to home and to that childhood now far away.

I had this in 1998 and it was delicious, lasting a long time because the liquid was oily. I was given a shower gel of the reformulated version and I can tell it’s not the same, but it remains a simple and rich fragrance, nothing extraordinary. It smells clean, fresh and classic. I love it; it’s a scent that will never go out of fashion because it smells like soap.

  • WilsonTrujillo

A soft and elegant fragrance for women with a good nose. EDT recommended for quiet and romantic occasions, preferably in the evening. Its longevity is minimal but pleasant.

  • Clean and simple scent. Perfect for hot days thanks to the freshness of the grapefruit and mint. It’s a nod to the 90s but remains timeless. It lasts quite well, something for every day.

  • El mestizo olfateador

A hidden gem. I had it in 1997 as an aftershave and it was notable; I’d say it had more power than the current EDT (I was in secondary school then). Today it doesn’t last an hour of projection, but I found its DNA and have it with Asteroides, happy to be back to its scent.

Nostalgia in a bottle. My mum gave it to me when she travelled to the US, right as I started university. I fell in love with it instantly: youthful yet characterful. I wore it until I was 22, when I started looking for something more stylish and bought Aqua di Gio. Years later, I saw it on offer and didn’t hesitate to buy it again. It doesn’t suit my everyday look anymore, but I keep it for those Sundays in a hoodie and jeans.

  • Diego Parfum de Marly

How many bottles I used in my adolescence. They gave it to me and as I liked it, I didn’t try another until two years ago, when I travelled and Stronger White You was on offer, which earned me several compliments. Since then I’ve started my fandom and have so many varieties I’ve lost my identity. If I had to indicate which fragrance I identify with, it would be this one I wore from 15 to 35 years old. I don’t use it now, I have it and like it, but with more experience I have better options.

  • Eduardo_Almeida_Hueleme

Beast mode! We’re looking for a fragrance that projects and lasts 24 hours, but not all of them deliver. This classic smells like a clean, well-groomed man (which women love). It lasts about 5-6 hours and keeps you in your own personal bubble. I detect notes of cotton and lavender. Ideal for the office or school and super value for money. Any doubts about buying it? It’s worth it!

Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger is a fresh, friendly classic, perfect if you’re looking for something light, cheap and easy to use. It evokes memory and vitality, though the performance is fair. If you want presence all day or mature personality, consider alternatives with more longevity or complexity, such as Montale’s Fougeres Marines.

It had to be by Alberto Morillas. There are fragrances that tell stories, evoke and embrace. Tommy is one of them. A fruity fougère that distils simplicity and character. It’s the reflection of the 90s and early 2000s: clean, fresh, youthful and innocent. But it’s much more. It occupies a special place in my heart. It was one of the first I owned; my grandfather gave it to me when I was twelve. I still have the same bottle, like a time capsule. It transports me to my grandparents’ house, a place of tenderness. Its scent takes me to the green garden with colourful flowers, to the basket of juicy fruit in the kitchen and to the inside of the house: gleaming white floor, elegant marble, dark wood furniture and that deep pistachio green wall on the stairs, with a porcelain pot my grandmother brought from her travels. Tommy captures all these memories. Every note is a memory, weaving a personal nostalgia. It’s not just a fragrance: IT’S A LIVING MEMORY.

I’m a devotee of Tommy, that iconic 1995 creation by Alberto Morillas and Annie Buzantian. For me it’s not just a fragrance; it’s an olfactory symbol capturing the luminous, optimistic spirit of the 90s. It evokes a happy, carefree era, omnipresent in discos and universities. If success had a smell, it would resemble this. Technically, it’s one of the freshest and best-structured green fragrances I’ve heard. The opening is sparkling, citrusy and clean, with grapefruit, mint and bergamot interwoven. Then it moves to a green, slightly spiced heart, with lavender, blueberry and red apple without falling into sweetness; the base is a light amber, cactus and cotton flower, soft and almost aquatic. It’s masculine but without rigidity. It represents the free man of the 90s: dynamic, successful and accessible. Its versatility is incredible: a teenager or a mature adult can wear it. What surprises me most is how undervalued it is today. Its quality is above many current proposals; it has nothing to envy those viral fragrances that smell like hotel air fresheners. Tommy doesn’t need reformulations or limited editions. It simply needs skin, summer and the desire to remember that men’s perfumery knew how to be fresh without being frivolous.

  • I disagree with those who say it smells old today (2025). It’s timeless and looks great on young people. It’s paradoxical that after 30 years it suits teenagers better, but that’s how it is. It’s very well known; for those aged 40 to 50 it carries symbolic weight. It suits forty-somethings for daytime wear, perhaps for the office if there’s no formal meeting. It’s a fantastic fragrance.

  • Bought it after 29 years without smelling it. For those born after 1982, this smelled like the clubs of the mid-to-late 90s, just like any young person from that era. Good option, paid $25 and I have no complaints. Smells almost identical to the original, perhaps slightly more soapy but subtly. Longevity and projection are mediocre, but for the price there’s no better option. No abrupt changes over time, which I prefer; it’s more of the 80s and 90s where the scent was there from the start. The mint is subtle at first, citrus noticeable for only five minutes, then it becomes sweet with cinnamon, peppermint and apple; lavender is always present and at the end the cactus shows through. There are never abrupt changes, everything is balanced. The notes here seem short or outdated; it smells more like what Wikiparfum says; for example, they don’t list cinnamon here but do elsewhere, and it’s evident. The box states Cinnamal, cinnamon scent. Rating: 7. Would I buy it again? No, if it doesn’t project and doesn’t last, it’s not worth it.

  • I was gifted a third of a bottle when I was a teenager; I liked it but had no money. Now I wear it almost daily and always buy the 200 ml version. It’s very fresh, I put it on after a shower and it lasts quite a while.

  • DiegoSupertramposo

A fresh, clean, soapy fragrance of good quality. Unlike other reviews, it doesn’t smell old; it’s modern and worn daily. Not for winter, as it gets lost among sweeter perfumes. Versatile, goes with anything. Smells like waking up in a field with trees and citrus; on my skin, the bergamot, lemon, mint, lavender and apple stand out. Its weak point is longevity, but it’s not bad: it lasts six hours. It’s charming, liked and not annoying.

  • Pollo blues

Smelled it again today, five years on. It’s my holiday scent for the Pacific coast, bringing back memories of Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido. I’ll buy it again just for the nostalgia.

  • valentinophantom

Underrated and top-tier. I bought a bottle as I needed something fresh and have no regrets. Classic blue, soapy, slightly mentholated. On my skin the mint lifts beautifully, so I have no issues with this powerhouse. 7.9/10.

  • Jaime Ramírez

I first got this at 12, brought back from the USA, and now at 40 it feels like travelling back to my teenage years. Cheerful citrus, makes you feel clean, fresh and uplifted. A simple scent, but in that simplicity lies the magic: refined, delicate and expensive-smelling.

  • Ulises MeGo

My signature fragrance for over five years. You can meet so many people nowadays, yet you’ll rarely smell it among all the trendy, mass-produced scents. It’s versatile and timeless, suits any day, hour or occasion. At big birthday parties especially, people will ask what you’re wearing because it’s not widely available. It’s not a beast in longevity, so I wouldn’t recommend it for events where projection matters; it’s more for daily wear, outings or work. I’d recommend it 100% blind.

  • I’ve reviewed this before but I’m testifying again: Tommy’s performance is top-notch, and for the £30 I paid, you can’t ask for more. It projects for 24 hours with a wonderful trail on clothes, smelling of well-dressed youth. It’s an almost unique scent these days, nothing like the blues such as Sauvage or Dylan. Just two caveats: it can be a bit cloying at times, and make sure to keep it away from light and dry, stored tightly closed.

  • FherZamudio

I bought it again after more than 20 years. Spraying it on my hand sent my mind back, recalling stories, anecdotes and friends. I remembered an afternoon organised by the Sequoia when eurodance was at its peak. It’s fresh, green, herbal and very easy to like. Ideal for the office for everyday wear. It doesn’t have great projection, but it does its job; after all, we use perfume for ourselves, not to carry a cloud of scent. Its longevity is average; it doesn’t last just three hours (you’d have to bathe more often). No problem, it lasts through the working day. Would I buy it again? Definitely yes, many times more.

  • Ricky Morales

Perfect freshness for the heat. As a novice in fragrances, my nose isn’t as refined, but on the opening you can feel the citrus, especially the mint, which on my skin lasts almost the entire life of the scent. As it dries down, it leaves a minty smell with the freshness of freshly cut apple and light, pleasant sweet touches, plus a slight ‘fresh spicy’ note. I recommend it for daily wear because, in my opinion, it doesn’t have a very high presence; five to seven sprays is just right for people to notice it when greeting, I don’t know if more leaves a trail. Although its normal price seems expensive to me as it doesn’t surprise or stand out, in offers it’s a definite yes.

  • Sunny and fresh, with green apple taking centre stage. It’s my go-to holiday scent. Performance is very good and invites you to enjoy life, though I do need to reapply after five hours.

  • Andrew_WSX

I used it again today after 20 years; my first memory is of my first fragrance when I started working as a young professional and could afford it. I sense a fresh opening with citrus notes but also a sweet touch. I’m not an expert, so I can’t say which olfactive notes it smells more like, but as it dries down, its fruity sweetness and a hint of floral become noticeable. To me, it has the same emotional value as the base perfumes in my collection. I recommend it because it’s timeless and unobtrusive, especially in summer when you need to feel fresh. I would buy it again as it has a special place in my collection.
