  • What a bloody perfume, this Victrix. Do you remember that Instagram phrase that says ‘jo, it’s so me’? Well, bugger it, this is pure ‘me’, I’m blown away. It’s that delicate, woody and earthy side that has me crazy, those country misty notes loaded with Iso E Super (here it’s in bulk) that create swirls of sawdust, steamed from the orchard and low-lying hills where happy little mice run. Early 20th-century woody and spiced waters, with the consistency of something futile and silent that lingers on the skin and reactivates with heat. It’s a blend of badger shaving brush, a kick to a hare’s earth, traces of quality cotton, of home and countryside, of things that do no harm and shouldn’t cost more than sixty euros, but by God, this wonder smells divine. I see the notes and for me it was supposed to have angelica at the start; amidst kilos of Iso, I smell that velvet-wrapped, damp packaging of cold wild flower, divine. I also imagined a very soft, almost non-existent vetiver, you know it’s there because you’ve been sniffing perfumes for a thousand years, but it’s not a leading actor. At some point, amidst the most oily cedar accord (yes, I know it’s Iso, cheap and in bulk, but let me dream), a hint of the orchard appears, of freshly uprooted vegetables. It seems you feel in your nose the moment a hand pulls out a carrot or potato with a spade, that instant that has obsessed me since I was a child (I was raised in the countryside) where the moisture of the virgin earth mixes with the day’s air, the steel of the tool and the dry earth… it’s not petricor, which smells more fragrant. Simply, it’s the earthy and ecstatic aroma of pure earth, of the earth where worms live. Truly, I’m floating in a cloud. That’s what Victrix smells like, an overpriced perfume of hard earth with a natural sweetness. I’ve been obsessed with that scent for years, it’s part of my olfactory memory; I was lucky enough to live a childhood surrounded by goats, rabbits, donkeys, peppers, cherries and irrigation ditches. Those scents are mine, and here they are recreated perfectly that childhood moment lying on the plot, dirty and in ragged clothes, in glory, in the shade of trees, plunging a hand into the earth and playing with a fresh, sensual worm, while pure earth chords arrive. Like smelling a freshly wet jug. Accompanying the fine earth tone, there are scales of spicy and woody sweetness. Here the fresh, mossy and twinkling spices, of a precious greenery, have their part. In the end, Victrix is freshly uprooted earth and the gentle water tone of things like that Céline for men. What can I say? I can’t recommend it, it’s very expensive, it’s not worth two euros per ml, not even swollen with wine or in a delirium, especially considering the amount of Iso E Super it contains, which is sold for two coins. But it has moved me like I haven’t been moved in a long time, I feel my name is written on it. I need it, I want it. And I know I’ll buy it.

  • What a precious thing this Victrix is. Do you remember that phrase that’s trendy on Instagram, that ‘jo, it’s so me’? Well, bugger it, this is so ‘me’… I’m blown away. Victrix is exactly that: a blend of badger shaving brush, a kick to a hare’s earth, traces of quality cotton, of home and countryside, of something that does no harm and shouldn’t cost more than sixty euros, but by God, this wonder smells divine. • Fraganceando_madrid

The Victrix by Profumum Roma attempts to recreate the scent of Roman ‘domus’, a tribute to the history of Rome in the form of a fragrance. It starts fresh and sparkling with unlisted citrus and pepper. Then, laurel takes the lead alongside oakmoss and vetiver. On my skin, I notice soft smoky touches reminiscent of incense (unlisted). It’s a scent of pines, cypresses, moss and damp earth… very evocative. Summery elegant, versatile, conveying ‘classic’ class and distinction. I bought it months ago and it doesn’t remind me of any other perfume. Its longevity exceeds 8 hours, with average sillage and projection. One of my favourites from my favourite perfumery.

The Victrix by Profumum Roma attempts to recreate the scent of Roman ‘domus’, a nod to Rome’s history in the form of a fragrance. It opens fresh and sparkling with unspecified citrus and pepper. Then, bay laurel takes the lead, dominating alongside oakmoss and vetiver. On my skin, I detect soft smoky nuances that remind me of incense (also not listed). It’s an aroma that smells of pines, cypress, moss, and damp earth… very evocative. Sumptuously elegant, versatile, it conveys class and a ‘classic’ distinction. I bought it a few months ago and it doesn’t strictly remind me of any other perfume. Its longevity on my skin exceeds eight hours, with moderate trail and projection. One of my favourites from my favourite perfumeries.

  • It’s a marvel. It’s distinct, special and distinguished. I refuse to describe it because you have to smell it to understand it. Beneath that blend of laurel and pepper arises an earthy sweetness that is breathtaking. I don’t know what the Roman domus would have smelled like, but laurel in ancient Rome was for the victors, hence the name. I agree with Spartacus: it has too much Iso Super. In fact, at the end, when it fades, it smells very much like Molecule 01.

  • The Victrix brings to mind rain and its scents. I adore it. I’d sell several perfumes and keep only this one.

  • It’s a marvel. It’s distinctive, special, and distinguished. I’d rather not describe its scent because it’s hard to express in words; you have to smell it. I’ll just say that beneath that lovely blend of bay laurel and pepper emerges an earthy sweetness that is absolutely ravishing. I don’t know what Roman domus would have smelled like, but bay laurel is a plant that in ancient Rome was associated with victors, hence the fragrance’s name. I wholeheartedly agree with Spartacus that this carries a lot of Iso E Super. In fact, in its final phase, when the perfume fades, what’s left on my skin is very similar to Molecule 01.

  • monsieurleather

It left me cold. I see it more as a personal fragrance; I feel it will be intrusive to many due to its astringent and dry character. It would be the serious sibling of Encre Noire. Only in the dry-down does it soften and start to remind me of Molecule 01 due to the Iso E-Super charge. It has quality in its notes, but little charm. To my nose, the pepper and green vetiver stand out, with very little laurel. Longevity is over 8 hours, but versatility is very limited. I won’t buy it; for me, it’s not worth it. It has too much Iso E-Super and I see no charm or usability in it. Au revoir!

  • A quality signature fragrance. The dominant note is laurel, conveying sobriety and elegance. It doesn’t evolve much on my skin and I would have liked to smell more oakmoss. In my opinion, it lacks that twist that would make it memorable. I’ve tried it several times but ultimately didn’t buy it: although I think it’s worth its price, it remains expensive for the experience it offers.

  • vladidelmundo

An exquisite aroma where oakmoss shines alongside citrus, vetiver and laurel with a touch of pepper. It’s herbal and refined, but the longevity and projection fall short. What a pity, because it’s a masterpiece. It evokes maturity, security and elegance, a gentleman’s fragrance. So far, my first time with laurel as the star. Perfect as an elegant signature scent for spring-summer.

  • Strolling through a chestnut and laurel forest after the rain, climbing the hill, and suddenly finding Rome just around the corner. I don’t know if I’m more enamoured by the damp air, the view, or the blend of both. It’s a masterpiece 🌳🏛️🇮🇹
