Patchouly by Profumum Roma

Patchouly de Profvmvm is a delight; if it were chocolate, it would be To’ak. It’s for those who know their perfumes and seek to enjoy in company, not to show off. It’s intimate, oily, and lasts on the skin for hours, making you smell natural and delicious. Forget parties; it’s for those who know what they want, like a fine-grain coffee or a Macallan in autumn. It’s sweet, humid, earthy, with a touch of sandalwood. If you like drawing attention with logos, this isn’t for you. It’s sophisticated and doesn’t smell like a hippie fair.

The best patchouli perfume I’ve ever tried. I love this note in any version, woody, earthy or chocolatey, and knowing the quality of this Italian house, I couldn’t resist trying it. It begins with patchouli wrapped in a sweet halo, not excessive, more from the sandalwood than the amber. Over time, the patchouli gains potency: it becomes earthy with chocolatey tints and something balsamic. It lasts for many hours, is potent, clings to the skin and projects well, creating a large bubble. Then, the slight sweetness of the amber and sandalwood (now more the former) becomes more noticeable, although the patchouli still dominates, more blended and less earthy. Its longevity exceeds 12 hours on skin and the projection is notable, being very perceptible after six or seven hours; in this, it’s exceptional. A curiosity: when I bought it over two years ago, it had the colour of the photos, but now it’s dark brown, although I keep it in a closed, cool and dark cupboard. I read on the brand’s website that, due to its high natural content, the colour can change and it’s normal. Sincerely, the scent hasn’t varied at all. I use it on cloudy or rainy days in autumn, winter or early spring, which are the seasons that suit this aroma best. Never in summer, because it would be overwhelming. It’s for true patchouli lovers.

Spectacular; on my skin it’s a magic potion. At first strong, but it lifts passions to a level never seen before. I keep it stored and get nervous when there’s little left. It’s an infallible seduction weapon; I’ve even had clothes stolen because of the scent (well, later they said it smelled like me). Very personal opinion based on my experiences.

Essential if you love Patchouly. It’s among the best, alongside L Villoresi’s. Very versatile and on my skin it lasts over 12 hours.

Simple and linear patchouli, but of great quality and amazing performance. From the start, you note the earthy and powerful patchouli alongside the amber. Gradually the amber gains presence and vanilla appears. It smells warm and enveloping. It doesn’t evolve much afterwards. Tremendous performance and high projection. Totally unisex, masculine opening and feminine dry-down. Ideal for cold weather, madness in extreme heat. I’ve liked it. It’s like Montale’s Patchouli Leaves or Jovoy’s Psichedelique, but not identical. Pros: performance and scent. Cons: price and that it will only suit patchouli lovers.

If I can try it and like it, I’ll buy it even if it’s expensive, as I trust Drakecito.

Very well blended, balsamic, linear, and with sensational performance, lasting over 15 hours on the skin. I tested it from a vial and it lasted days. Perhaps the best from this Italian brand so far. Suitable for all seasons, though better in autumn-winter, day or night, for serious occasions. The price is prohibitive. Must be a patchouli lover.
