  • To me it’s an old-school perfume. It’s one of those fragrances that makes you feel like putting it on as soon as you start getting ready, leaving no room for the rest of your olfactory treasures. It never fails me, and although I’m terribly unfaithful, when the mood strikes it has to be this one, and the effect is incredible, both on myself and my surroundings. It’s one of those aromas where you find strangers taking deep breaths of it… Either you love it or you hate it.

  • It’s an old-school fragrance, the kind you crave while getting ready and can’t get enough of its olfactory treasures. It never fails; even if I stray from it, when I fancy it, this is the one! The effect is incredible, both on me and those around me. It’s one of those scents where strangers take deep breaths… either you love it or you hate it.

Blessed heavens!! How does this smell, folks. And I thought there couldn’t be a creamier perfume than Guerlain’s Terracota… Well, what a blast from the olfactory past. What a gorgeous scent. But nothing beats Hypnotic Poison by Dior (Parfum version) because the Toilet version for me… nothing like it. Would I recommend it? Without a doubt. Would I buy it? No, I wouldn’t be unfaithful to my Poisoned Apple from Dior.

  • Who wants to smell like caramelised almonds? Well, here’s the perfume. That said, magically it’s not cloying or overwhelming. Profumum Roma creates perfect sweet scents. Creamy, sugary, gluggy, chewy… and they don’t tire or overpower but rather envelop and impart an incomparable warm softness.

It’s similar to Hypnotic Poison but far more intense and balanced. Though it would be more accurate to say Hypnotic Poison resembles Confetto, as this launched two years before the Dior version. Confetto is a wonderful gourmand that smells just like peladillas – roasted almonds coated in fine layers of sugar with a hint of anise. That anise adds a bitter note, but it doesn’t compare to the sweetness and creaminess of the vanilla alongside the candied almond, which are far more noticeable. It has a very powdery aroma and a slightly plastic note that doesn’t bother me at all. The amber adds great depth while the musk rounds off the fragrance beautifully. After several hours, it transforms into exquisite cotton candy. It’s very sweet but not sickly, sexy without being loud, distinctive yet easy to wear. Magnetic, soft, comforting, hypnotic, perfect for me. And you know what’s best? The performance. Every time I try Hypnotic Poison, I get angry because its reformulation lasts absolutely nothing. In contrast, Confetto is madness. Strong trail and excellent longevity. It’s exactly what I always dreamed the Dior one would be. So bye bye Hypnotic Poison, hello Confetto. I’ll definitely buy it because this magic potion is worth every penny and lasts forever. EDIT: I’ve been wearing it for days and people love it. The card has been smelling for a week; I haven’t seen anything like it. I’m so obsessed I bought it as a self-gift for my birthday. Aww.

It resembles Hypnotic Poison but is much more intense and balanced. In fact, it would be more accurate to say that Hypnotic Poison resembles Confetto, as this came out two years earlier. It is a wonderful gourmand that smells like peladillas: roasted almonds bathed in fine sugar with an anised touch. That anise adds a bitter note, but it doesn’t compete with the sweetness and creaminess of the vanilla and candied almond, which are the stars. It has a powdery aroma and a slightly plastic note that doesn’t bother me. The amber gives it depth and the musk rounds everything off. After several hours, it turns into exquisite cotton candy. It is very sweet but not sickly, sexy without shouting, distinctive yet easy to wear. Magnetic, soft, comforting, hypnotic, perfect for me. The best part is the performance: every time I try Hypnotic Poison I get angry because the reformulation doesn’t last at all, whereas Confetto is madness. Strong trail and excellent longevity. It is what I always dreamed of from Dior. Goodbye Hypnotic Poison, hello Confetto. I will definitely buy it because this magic potion is worth every penny and lasts forever. EDIT: I’ve been wearing it for days and people love it. The card has been smelling for a week; I haven’t seen anything like it. I am so obsessed that I bought it as a self-birthday gift. Aww

  • Confetto smells exactly like candied almonds, those pastel-coloured ones sold in Chile, but with anise essence added to the candy. After half an hour, the vanilla becomes apparent, sweetening everything but not to the point of being cloying. A while later, the vanilla blends with a musky note. Finally, by the fourth hour, the fragrance is closer to the skin yet still perceptible; the vanilla feels warmer, and there remains a hint of that anise-almond halo. Certainly, it is quite linear; if you wish to buy it blind, you must like sweet almond and anise notes. Does it resemble Hypnotic Poison? Hmm, yes, a little—the sweet, vanillaised almond accord is quite predominant and similar in both, however Confetto never becomes sharp at any point, whereas the Dior fragrance gives me a headache. On the other hand, both have other notes that distinguish them totally: Confetto with the anise, Hypnotic Poison with the coconut, an artificial one identical to that in Dolce Garden by D&G. And Kenzo Amour? No, not this one. Moderate projection and longevity between 5-7 hours on my skin.

  • Confetto smells like those candied pastel almonds you can buy in Chile, but with a hint of anise added to the candy. After half an hour, the vanilla becomes noticeable, sweetening without being cloying, before blending into a musky touch. By four hours, it has settled onto the skin, feeling warmer, though that halo of anised almond remains. It is fairly linear; if you don’t like sweet almonds and anise, better not to buy it blindly. Does it resemble Hypnotic Poison? A little, that almond-vanilla accord is similar, but Confetto doesn’t hurt anywhere, whereas the Dior one gives me a headache. Besides, each has its own stamp: Confetto with the anise, and Hypnotic Poison with an artificial coconut identical to that in D&G’s Dolce Garden. Projection is moderate and it lasts between five and seven hours on my skin.

If you like Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, this is for you. They smell similar, but you can tell the quality of the notes in this fragrance is superior; the longevity of these perfumes is madness. I passed on it because I’m not such a fan of the memory I have of Hypnotic, but it is a sweet and beautiful jewel from the house.

  • Confetto is a memory of better times, a refuge for those terrible days when you’d rather stay in a hole than go out. It’s that aroma that pulls you out of a quantum state of subnormality and changes your mood for the day, making things easier and brighter with the olfactory memory of village fair stalls selling cotton candy and roasting almonds. Because that is Confetto: a sweet scent straddling cotton candy and roasted almonds, which over time shifts into exquisite vanilla, soothing and comforting. It’s not cloying or heavy, wearable any time of year except in excessive heat, ideal for a date or a special occasion where you want to stand out with a special, original fragrance. It boasts spectacular longevity of over ten hours on skin and the beastly quality Profumum Roma is known for… Confetto is village fair magic in liquid form, capable of bringing a smile when nothing else can. One of those exquisite gourmands that was overshadowed by siblings like Dulcis in fundo or Sorriso, but in my opinion, it has nothing to envy them, surpassing them (from my point of view) in olfactory originality. If you can try it, don’t hesitate because Confetto certainly does not disappoint.

  • Confetto is a reminder of better times and a sanctuary for those dreadful days when you’d rather be in a hole. • Confetto in Italian means ‘cotton candy’. I believe that’s what they aimed to represent in this fragrance. After a very amusing anise opening, it settles into a scent of sugared almonds that feels entirely feminine to me. It’s sweet, very sweet, and fun to smell from the bottle, but personally, I’d feel uncomfortable wearing it; it seems more suited to women who want to attract attention. In fact, it’s a clear copy of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, though Confetto has more density and longevity. Also, be careful with bottles from this house—they leak liquid and can break if you screw the cap on too tightly.

  • I wanted to love it, but I couldn’t. The opening is brilliant—a delicate scent of vermouth-soaked almonds—but it fades quickly, giving way (at least on my skin) to a plasticky, industrial smell, like nail polish or cheap vinyl, which is a shame. I was also surprised by the longevity; I expected something monstrous, yet it lasted barely six hours with minimal trail. Among Profumum’s sweeter offerings, I’ll definitely stick with Acqua e Zucchero.

  • I wanted to love it, but I didn’t. The opening is brilliant, a delicate scent of verbena candyfloss, but it dissipates quickly and gives way, at least on my skin, to a plastic and industrial smell, like nail polish or tacky vinyl, what a pity. I was also surprised by the performance, as I expected something monstrous, yet it didn’t last more than six hours with a minimal trail. Of the sweeties from Profumum, I will definitely stick with Acqua e Zucchero.
