What a good fragrance, sweet and fruity, with a very interesting citrus. It definitely never fails and is among my favourites. It has a 90s spirit. 9/10. Good longevity and sillage.
My first quality fragrance I bought. I think it wasn’t the best choice: it is very good, but for an 18-year-old, it does not seem like a good idea to wear a perfume with these characteristics.
It reminds me of an early Lynx (now Axe), perhaps the Marine. If anyone agrees and remembers, please help me.
As soon as we spray, a potent sweet lavender roars like an animal, with subtle citrus touches and a well-present neroli. As it progresses, the pine and oakmoss become more prominent. The leather is not so consistent at first, it stays calm and then becomes much more noticeable. It seems to want to combine the freshness of the 90s with the aromatic intensity of an 80s perfume. In terms of longevity, it is a fixation bomb; one must know how to administer it or we end up being its prey. With Animale, less is more. In structure, it seems like an amplified Cool Water. At times it is excessive, not as well orchestrated as the Davidoff, but it has its identity. Many speak of the Animale 94′ as the best, I should see if I can find it and analyse it. Nowadays, it doesn’t impress me as much, it seems correct although it suffers from excess, but I remember it a lot because when I was small, it was alongside the Azzaro Pour Homme one of my father’s favourites for going to spy on the perfumes. My review is about the Eau de Toilette from the 90s.
Does anyone know where to find the batch of this fragrance?
Nothing to do with Animale compared to Eternity. I had both when they launched and found no resemblance whatsoever. In fact, I stopped using the Animale because its scent tired me out so much, whereas I liked the Eternity. They are not alike. Animale has a note that exhausted my olfactory senses; I don’t know if it is the oakmoss or the geranium, but it is what stands out the most. In short, I cannot stand it. In other people and for a moment, I do like it a little, but it is not for me.
I have read many reviews associating it with CK Eternity, but my nose links it more to the old cylindrical bottle Polo Sport. Being from the 90s, it retains that fresh, citrus and aromatic line of the time with that floral touch of the era, like CK One, CK Be or Eternity. Longevity is excellent, good sillage and better than average. On my skin, it lasts more than 10 hours, projecting around 6 depending on the temperature; it stands out in warm climates, spring or summer. Afterwards, it lingers close to the skin on clothes for days. Price-quality is very good. It never fails, generates compliments and breaks with the established norm. In my view, it makes a difference. In Uruguay, it can be found at a good price in certain perfumeries. A very pleasant fragrance, within my favourites.
As a good Cuban, I was looking for deals in the perfumeries and came across the Comodoro. This one caught my eye not because of the low price, but because I had always heard good things about it. I had tried it before, so it wasn’t a blind purchase: Animale for $26, another for the collection. Top notes: freesia, lemon and neroli; heart notes: juniper berries, lavender and geranium; base notes: leather, oakmoss and vetiver. Fragantica classifies it as a spicy oriental, but I perceive it as an aromatic-floral. It is interesting because, being from the 90s, it still retains that 80s touch in its opening. It is not fresh, but can be worn in heat without over-applying. The best part: spectacular longevity and projection, which is horrible for such an economical price. The floral notes of neroli, lavender and freesia stand out. It feels somewhat unnatural, but at this price, it doesn’t matter. It’s a compliment generator always. More of a night fragrance for me, although versatile with casual wear and evenings. Highly recommended, it won’t leave you indifferent.
It is a serious fragrance, highly contagious and extremely long-lasting. It is definitely one of my favourites.
A noble and woody fragrance, ideal for characterful and intellectual men. I recommend it to men aged 30 to 40; on my skin, it lasts easily around 7 hours. The price is very economical, but be careful: don’t overdo it, as 4 or 5 sprays are enough for a full day. Greetings from Medellín.
Many thanks, effective. I made a mistake with this flanker; I thought I was reviewing the original, so I deleted this and reviewed it in the correct section.
Very rich and masculine; aromatic, citrusy, fresh, and mossy. A classic for receiving compliments; suitable for daily wear.
A measured Animal: my first designer fragrance at 10 years old in 1996. It has a vintage yet current fruity and floral blend. Lavender gives way to leather and moss, contrasting the initial citrus and florals, very balanced. Thinking of Animale is thinking of a youthful fragrance that competed with Fahrenheit. Today it’s versatile, for young people in their 30s to mature men in their 40s; it literally grew up with us. Try it before buying. Works well during the day and at night, where the leather helps. Ideal for cool temperatures; it admits heat but not too much to bring out all its virtues. The fixative is very good. At the current price, it’s an excellent purchase if you like medium scents with flowers and leather. Sprays: 5 to 8. Fixative: 8. Trail: Medium. Intensity: Medium.
A 90s fragrance that brings back memories. It’s one of those perfumes that makes you turn around to see who’s wearing it. Very distinctive and rich. Fresh, with a marine touch. Fair price and excellent value for money. One of my favourites.
90s classic: pleasant, long-lasting, and practical. Despite the reformulation, it remains relevant. Ideal for those over 25 (though age doesn’t matter). In my collection, Yanbal’s Temptation for men is 95% similar, only swapping lemon for tangerine and leather for cedar, but this Animale has more staying power. You receive good compliments. In mild weather, it stands out at work and social events without being intrusive or cloying. It’s versatile, a Swiss Army knife if you don’t overdo it. Incredible price; don’t spend on expensive clones like Polo or CK; Animale lasts longer on skin and clothes. For stylish men, this is old school. Tiens!
Starts with fresh lime, then lavender comes out, finishing with moss and leather. A rich, well-made fragrance that remains attractive after almost 30 years. It used to impact me more, perhaps because I wore it a lot, but after 10 years it revived my university days. Smells very well, though it can be a bit much. It’s a basic essence for any wardrobe, accepted by all, balanced, youthful, and perfect for informal daytime wear.
Good cheap perfume, no flaws. Smells clean and makes you feel fresh when you wear it.
For anyone wanting to buy it now: it smells exactly as it did years ago. Back in the 90s, I was the boy who smelled best in class; now at 35, someone gifted it to me and it smells just the same. If you’re looking for something rich and different from current sweet trends, this is the option. It generates compliments, is versatile, informal, and youthful. Nobody dislikes it.
Did they reformulate it? I smell it exactly as before. I’ve worn it from childhood into adulthood and will keep buying it. It’s unique, nobody else uses it, and it smells delicious. Incredible trail, not uncomfortable, with excellent phases. On clothes, it’s brutal; a super 90s classic at a crazy price of $40. For going out at night, don’t apply as much as you would in the morning. I love the original bottle. Top 10 of the 90s. For an EDT, the performance is impressive. Rich, masculine, doesn’t smell old. I’ll be looking for the 200ml version, as I’m running low.
The best aromatic scent and value for money: fresh, clean, and understated, perfect for any occasion. An ideal balance between vibrant notes with floral touches that make it friendly and seductive, and a warm finish with vetiver and suede that keeps it grounded. It may seem vintage at first, but it’s a welcoming, delicious masculine classic with a fantastic trail. Ideal for daily wear, summer, the office, or going out. It becomes an addiction.
A friend used it and smelled good, but when I asked for a bit, there came a moment when I couldn’t stand it. It was just one note, I don’t know which, that took the desire out of wearing it. It smells good in general, but that note seemed strange and piercing to me, almost cheesy, I don’t know how to describe it. Just a friend brought it and it smelled very well, but unfortunately I can’t stand it anymore.
I was greatly surprised: for an EDT, it lasted around 8 hours without problems. The scent might seem vintage compared to today’s fragrances. It has a fresh and woody opening that, as it dries down, feels very earthy vetiver with a touch of leather. I recommend trying it before buying because it’s not such a common scent. It’s very versatile for any weather, although I’ve been told it smells fresh. The price is a great advantage; I bought it for around 700 Mexican pesos. The scent doesn’t feel too synthetic and the bottle looks economical. It’s worth it.
I agree with Josesan; I have two bottles and bought it again because I really liked it, but it’s not the same anymore. Even the manufacturer changed; the current version smells very synthetic, nothing like the original from years ago.
I used it in the 90s and girls went crazy; it was incredible, wherever I went it captivated them and it was impossible to go unnoticed. It had a citrus opening with a leather heart that over time became the dominant note, projecting more than two metres away. You’d perfume yourself and it would linger on the skin until the next day. Something similar to L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake.
This was my first perfume when I entered the world of fragrances. It smells very fresh but quite synthetic; my friends love it and it’s my girlfriend’s favourite, although I notice the synthetic notes quite a bit. The opening is potent, reaching out to the arm and beyond, then settles closer to the skin, not skin scent but close. I wear it when people are nearby. It lasts quite a while, about 8 hours, which is a relief. I recommend it for any time or season except winter. As a first perfume, it’s not bad, it’s accessible, and it doesn’t hurt to apply several sprays. It smells very fresh and literally aromatic. The juniper berry note is very prominent, the most dominant one. They say Animale For Men and Animale are the perfumes of the bad boy. It’s not a bad perfume; if you want it, go ahead, although the scent is very different from today’s and you might not like it at first. Scent 8/10, Projection 6/10, Longevity 7/10, Price 9/10.
A good fragrance that makes a strong impression. It’s one of those scents where everyone asks what it is; it never goes unnoticed. I’ve worn it for a while and consider it fresh and wild.
Pure nostalgia, from my first fragrances. I’ve always bought it and it never misses a spot in my collection.
Smells good, rich up close, and not cloying. The trail isn’t huge, but in the short term it smells fantastic. I keep it alongside Versace Dylan Blue; while I sometimes mix them, Animale doesn’t even come close. The dry-down isn’t its strongest point, but it still deserves a 7.
Fresh, savoury, and clean with good longevity. I use it on Sundays when I’m free, but it works for daily wear too. I recommend it: you can apply several sprays and it lasts around 8 hours without issue.
A 90s classic that competes with Polo Sport, though perhaps with more character and a spicier edge. Ideal for sport, it’s super fresh and clean. Animale has some cult perfumes that nobody appreciates. Rating 9/10.
The perfume is wonderful and, yet, I regret buying it. Animale is a fragrance I would never put on someone under 35. The wood and leather scent is potent and even spicy. It smells like the ’90s at their peak, and precisely because of that, it’s hard to wear. You need a certain age or personality (action movie protagonist type) to carry it comfortably. Having said that, the perfume is excellent. A great option to gift to a man over 40, it will surely bring nostalgia. It can also work in romantic situations, especially if the other person is of a certain age. Due to its sharpness, I would never use it for everyday wear. I feel it deserves to be used on special occasions out of respect for others, as it will shine, especially at night.
Very ’90s. Few compliments.
’90s barbershop vintage. It’s a classic scent for casual use, weak in projection and low longevity. The price is very good so you can buy it without fear. I like it but only give it casual use.
A ’90s formal man scent; my affection comes from the fact it was the first that made me fall in love with perfumery. When I was a teenager, I’d take it from my dad’s shelf and, upon noticing, he gifted it to me. How can one forget my first perfume? I felt like an alpha when I wore it to school. I think its name describes it well: it’s a wild essence, the kind of fragrance a clean bear would use if it could. The opening is rich and fresh, but what stands out most are the herbal base and heart notes with leather, not bothersome but very wearable, even citrusy. It’s very versatile, but by no means youthful or modern; I’d probably recommend it to those 40 and over, and at that age it could be a signature scent. At 25, I wear it comfortably in semi-formal situations, such as family gatherings, and occasionally to enjoy its scent alone at home. It has brought me compliments, but mostly from my mum, my aunts, and older folk, I imagine due to ’90s nostalgia. An excellent perfume, especially for its quality-to-price ratio.
I’ve had it for several years and copied it from my father, yet it DOES NOT SMELL OLD; it’s a super sexy scent and one for a young, elegant evening for cool afternoons and semi-formal events. The opening is citrusy but has something that stops it from being too much for extreme heat; when it dries, it leaves that sexy touch. I find it a bit tricky to find the ideal moment due to its light, formal character. As for projection and longevity, I’ve always found them low; on clothes it does last longer. It’s the fragrance I wouldn’t reveal I have, something sexy and unique, as no one has ever spoken to me about it; it’s like a hidden little gem. I might have olfactory fatigue that makes it invisible to me after half an hour; if so, and it projects moderately and lasts, I’d give it 8.5/10, if not, a 7/10.
A gem I used over 30 years ago. 9/10 across the board. Perhaps it might smell dated today (NO), still a classic gem, of those that left their mark.
The three fragrances I used extensively in my youth: Watt Blue, Samba for Men, and this Animale, which I’d place third yet is the only one that survives. I don’t know the current version, but the original was very good. Recently I bought Azzaro TMWI and had some reminiscences, only at the opening. This was the example of how to make a strong, masculine scent; in the dry-down, which was the best part, it was like wearing a mantle of testosterone. The men who asked me what perfume I was wearing weren’t the softies or weaklings, but the tough guys, bodybuilders, and macho types; that was this scent.
What a wonderful fragrance, right from the old days. Niche level but affordable.
An excellent vintage perfume; I’ve used it for over 20 years and had completely forgotten this scent. I bought it for my collection about three weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. It’s very agreeable and timeless. Longevity and projection are acceptable; although it’s from 1993, it smells modern, perhaps which is why it was a hit in its time. When I first sprayed it, my wife was about five metres away and noticed it; she liked it very much despite being quite fussy. I was truly surprised and enjoyed it greatly.
Very good. Smells vintage but isn’t Polo Green or old; it’s a well-groomed ’30s type that gets copies made in the office and colleagues keep staring. I reckon it would suit a straight tobacco scent perfectly. Robust and clean, the leather note is very well placed; I expected something else and it turned out better than anticipated. Scent 8.5/10, Price 9/10, Projection 7/10, Longevity 8/10
