  • Too strong, intrusive and heavy for my nose. Clumsy and a bit outdated. It reminds me of 90s perfumes (in fact, it is from 1987), and now it feels stagnant and not delicate. I like it not at all. However, I adore its male version.

  • VainillaDulce

Undoubtedly, talking about Animale is difficult, because it is not a simple perfume. If there is one that embodies the image of the 80s excesses (shoulder pads, voluminous hairstyles, asymmetrical cuts, neon tones, marked makeup), that is Animale: eccentric and excessive. It is a bomb of all its notes; you perceive them all from start to finish, although for me the florals and citrus dominate. I believe the name fits perfectly: BECAUSE THE WOMAN WHO WEARS IT MARKS PRESENCE AND TERRITORY, NULLIFYING OTHER AROMAS. Animale strides above all thanks to its overwhelming sillage and longevity. Not because it is bold, wild, and eccentric is it ugly or poorly executed; it’s like saying Madonna’s song ‘Like a prayer’ is horrendous: IT IS SCANDALOUS and that is not the same as ugly. I identify it with a bold woman, who breaks schemes, eccentric and confident, who likes to be the centre of attention. The only thing I consider a sin is using it in excess, because far from enjoying it, it becomes a torment if you put on more than two sprays. Rating 7/10.

  • IT IS INDEED A VERY HEAVY AND OVERPOWERING PERFUME. BUT IT SERVES ME BECAUSE I AM NOT ONE WHO LEAVES A SILLAGE; WITH ANIMALE I DO, AND I CAN NOTICE HOW WHEN I SPEAK TO SOMEONE THEY PERCEIVE IT AND ASK ‘WHAT PERFUME IS IT?’ IT SMELLS VERY PECULIAR WITH A RETRO AND BRAZEN TOUCH. I AGREE IT IS MORE FOR THE NIGHT, NOT FOR EVERY DAY, NOR THAT YOUTHFUL. BUT IT FASCINATES ME.

  • An exquisite and complex aroma, a single phase, a bomb of scents. Undoubtedly, it is a powerful fragrance that numbs the senses and transports you to another era, where going unnoticed was not an option. Dressing in Animale is dressing in provocation, stamping yourself with opulence, and expressing personality. Animale is not for those seeking to be fashionable with scents, but for those who recognise that beauty transcends eras and complexes, and quality.

  • I have tried this and the orange band one (magenta box); both are very potent (I prefer the other). This is the more intense of the two for me: notably retro, striking, a little cloying over a bitter and mossy base (like dark rum with Coca-Cola and syrup), intoxicating and penetrating. I would say a bit brazen. It’s like the giant earrings of the 80s and 90s, lycra and stilettos: extroverted, feminine, an 80s finale vedette. I see it on confident women, with self-assurance in their appeal (physical and personal), who don’t crumble from sweating or getting their hair messed up; adaptable and agile. It’s quite interesting, definitely outstanding. Currently, it would stand out among many at parties or nightclubs; its sillage and longevity allow it without problems.

  • Comparisons with Paloma Picasso are obvious: both are eighties excess and extravagance. As a great admirer of those sweet, animalic floral chypres, with intense red roses and musky spices, I believe I made the right choice buying it to keep alongside Paloma. If we are rigorous, the only difference is the honey note and the subtle wood in Animale, which is absent in Paloma. I feel Animale values the musk more, while Paloma emphasises the floral accords. Apart from that, they are 80% identical. I say these fragrances are made to go out and kill men, not just to enchant them, but to drive them mad. Many will say what they want, but for me, it doesn’t smell old or anything. It smells like a woman with huge personality. Animale is one of those fragrances that uses you, not the other way around. Unless an agreement is reached, use the potential of this beauty.

  • Sandra Cabezas271282

Animale impacts from the very first moment, very different from the rest. Upon testing, it’s an intoxicating musk aroma that then softens. The sillage is strong and lasts about 4-6 hours. It’s better worn in winter than summer.

  • My mother-in-law gifted it to me, but I found it super heavy; I couldn’t stand it and ended up gifting it to her father’s new wife.

  • Geno Guerrero

The name suits you perfectly; it’s a wild fragrance. Don’t let it intimidate you, because your massive sillage is frightening and your tenacity stalks. I’m sorry we didn’t have good chemistry, as the honey is going to make me dizzy.

  • Natalia Arenas

Whatever people say it’s a delicious fragrance. It has personality presence and is ideal for that woman who knows who she is what she is and has confidence in herself. It’s striking sensual and original. Its longevity is excellent. It’s one of my favourite perfumes; I finish a bottle and already have the next one ready because although I don’t use it every day I don’t like being without my Animale. I recommend it 100%. Greetings from Guatemala.

  • Bought it blindly at my usual perfumerie, trusting their promise of longevity and sillage—crucial as my skin absorbs almost everything. I absolutely loved the scent! I detected citrus, rose, and honey. I expected something drier, more chypre-style, but it turned out sweet and gentle. Perfect for daytime wear; on me, it’s not a bomb as others claim. It feels feminine and alluring, with moderate sillage and good staying power. It lasts a good while, plus it has the advantage of its price (ideal for repurchasing) and availability (no need to hunt for it on the black market). In short, an excellent purchase. Greetings from Chile.

  • I absolutely dislike this fragrance. It’s not my style it doesn’t reflect my personal signature; however when my friend wears it to go out partying with me… I absolutely love it.

  • charlotinable

For me it’s not a perfume; it’s an animal in absolute untamed rut mating furiously. It’s in the same style and line as Paloma Picasso almost identical. Beautiful and bestial between sexual and sensual. It has character temperament and a stubborn obsessive olfactory willpower that is evident with great force. It’s exquisite and not at all suitable for picky noses. It’s one of those fragrances with a life of its own almost identical to Ungaro’s Diva. Not suitable for shy people or personalities that don’t want to stand out because it gets right down into the back of your nasal cavity diaphragm or skull and stays there like a toxic cloud of vapour yet delicious. It truly screams right up to the walls in front; it’s like a ferret’s trail. These are real perfumes not those cheap watered-down rubbish they make nowadays that barely last a sigh; I think a fart lasts longer but this is an aromatic radioactive bomb—simply something very exquisite.

  • Patico192000

I was very curious to try it and finally did. Although it’s not my type I note that it’s one of the few that lasts a long time and leaves a wide marked trail. Its notes are typical of the 80s and 90s very floral with that woody touch that gives it an air of maturity. I think it’s perfect for a mature woman not for young girls though tastes vary. It smells very much like Yardley’s Chique same notes and scent. Recommended for its quality longevity and especially for evening wear.

  • La boricua

This fragrance meets all expectations. If you are a lover of classics and exquisite scents this is one of them. It resembles Fendi by Fendi greatly; it’s a much more affordable option and still available since Fendi is no longer in production. I adore it and have only had it for two days. If you are bold and decisive a woman who knows what she wants this is your fragrance.

  • BOCHINCHE74

An exquisite fine and elegant fragrance. Men love it. I had it a long time ago and now I want it back but it’s very expensive. It reminds me a lot of Fendi probably due to the Brazilian rosewood and coriander. I adore it.

  • I went along with the comments but honestly it smells of patchouli and an older lady. It’s the perfume to conquer old men hehe. That was my experience (I have neutral pH).

  • A fragrance with great personality and power. It’s classic oriental floral spiced and woody similar to Ungaro’s Diva. I used to wear it at 14 and it fascinated me making me feel secure. I loved that sweet honey-like scent on my skin. I wore it for a long time and never cared if it was marketed for women or not. Complex and potent fragrances have always fascinated me. I’ve tried every scent and Animale was authentic exquisite and timeless—not suitable for everyone. Now that I wear modern perfumes I greatly value those from the 80s and 90s for their complexity and authenticity.

  • camivilches

Very eighties and chypre. Yes it has that ‘lady’s perfume’ note but I absolutely love it. On my skin it changes dramatically throughout the day something that doesn’t happen with many fragrances. It’s extremely long-lasting. My mum wears it and I remember using Paloma Picasso when I was little; now that I read reviews I laugh—it makes perfect sense. It’s a fragrance with plenty of personality; I wouldn’t recommend it lightly.

  • Today’s perfumes would envy this one’s brutal longevity. If they call it vintage they’re right; if it’s from 1987 many critics weren’t even born then. To anyone who thinks it smells like a lady I’d say that scent doesn’t exist—it depends on your pH and personal taste. It’s tremendous complex and not for everyone. It features a very seductive animalic and honeyed dry-down with real coconut yet nothing synthetic or cloyingly sweet; it’s bitter floral toasty and mossy. My only issue is the coriander seed which I can’t stand in food and the clove which surprises me in the opening. But after about six hours it becomes sensual and animalic lasting over 12 hours and on clothes it’s forever. Just three sprays on the nape or back not the décolletage. If you don’t like complex intense and wild perfumes don’t try it.

  • To start, talking about ANIMALE (an icon for me) is talking about a fragrance that I ‘took over’ or perhaps she ‘took over’ me. It’s like ‘the palm of my hand’; I’ve known and used it for over 30 years. I clarify that ANIMALE doesn’t go unnoticed: for better or worse, it depends on the ‘nose judging it’. The presentation features strong colours, with a striking box and lid. The frosted glass bottle reveals timidly an intense amber liquid. It’s a Chypre-Floral family. Regarding the notes, I hesitate to define the exact ‘opening phases’; to my nose, it’s a ‘symphony of fragrant notes’. I don’t focus on the order, but immerse myself in full enjoyment, feeling inside that symphony where all stand out in perfect time and form. The coriander, carnation, rose, wood, honey, and a certain animalic touch are perceived with force. In my view, it’s completely atemporal and outside any ‘fashion’ frame. Its sillage is wide and projection is long-lasting. On skin, it lasts long and has excellent fixative properties. On clothes, it could last a week or more. I wouldn’t recommend it under any circumstances to buy ‘blindly’. Subjectively, I’d define it as intoxicating, captivating, wild, intoxicating, audacious, impactful, seductive, captivating, addictive, intimidating, and annihilating. If I had to describe it in one word, I’d make it redundant: UNIQUE. I wouldn’t wear it in the morning; in fact, it makes me a bit dizzy. I prefer to enjoy it from when the afternoon falls and night begins, ideal in the cold due to its presence. Occasions? Not for overly formal events or if you intend to go unnoticed, as it stands out and invades. It’s ideal for an informal night out, events where you want to make your presence felt, and above all, to ‘capture’ that person we’re interested in in the most ‘deadly’ way. You understand… right? No one in my close circle uses it, an advantage that doesn’t limit me from using it as I please. And I say more… I could use it even without fear that someone not so close might wear it at the same moment and place. To summarise and being absolutely subjective: without a doubt, I define ANIMALE as a perfume made (almost exclusively) ‘to my measure’.

  • Wooow, this is a proper treat for when you’re well-dressed and enjoying yourself. It’s elegant, suitable for a nightclub, wedding, or party. I feel it’s more of a night scent, but works in the day too if used with caution. It smells very strongly, and if you overdo it, it irritates the nose. No scent of old lady or matron; it smells like a nocturnal animal. It’s not for everyone; you need character and guts. Knowing how to wear it: one dominates the perfume, not the other way around.

  • ankhesenamon

I’m sorry… but it’s the ugliest perfume I’ve ever smelled in my life, along with Red Door, so popular in the 80s and 90s.

  • This perfume is the icon of my mum. She adores it and uses it in quantities; I gifted her another white floral, and she always asks for Animale. Being strong, whoever wears it announces their arrival. To me, it’s brash and I can barely distinguish the notes, perhaps just the animalic. I wouldn’t wear it myself, but I admire those who wear it for their skill with such a potent aroma.

  • Mariancoki

Unique and exquisite. I was a child when I smelled it on an older cousin and became fascinated, wishing to be an adult so I could smell like that. At 39, I remembered it and bought it blindly. I was wary of the potency, but it’s a complex aromatic bomb; nothing modern compares. Every time I find a different nuance: last night I sensed the rose, the animalic, the honey, and that earthy patchouli. The coriander is noticeable at the start, a note not everyone enjoys. I love 80s and 90s creations, but those in the fashion mainstream might be put off. It could go brilliantly on a man too. In conclusion, an atemporal bomb that stands out, for better or worse. So far, I’ve only received compliments. I’m glad I got 200ml.

  • Kharynbranchet

With the reformulations over the years, it has lost its power, sillage, and longevity.

  • MatlacomeEhecatl

A vintage scent, chypre; many identify it as talc. I’m fascinated by its potency; it reminds me of the 90s and the bottles in my aunts’ dressing tables. Don’t buy blindly as many won’t like it. I recommend it for those over 30; some say it smells like an old lady, but others adore it.

  • Marian Vázquez

It’s not my favourite scent, but it smells like those pastel-coloured sweeties. I looked them up on Google and they’re called ‘perfumed hearts’. As I mentioned below.

  • Marian Vázquez

It smells like pastel-coloured sweeties. I looked them up on Google and they’re called ‘perfumed hearts’.

  • I would never buy this again, even though the blend is top-tier for its longevity and tenacity. On cold days, it’s far too strong for my nose; the opening is strident, very aldehydic, and smells like vintage talc. The dry-down is more pleasant, but one or two sprays are enough: it knocks out anyone standing next to you.

  • Animale is a benchmark of 80s perfumery; I tried it for the first time in 2022 and honestly, my first impression was terrible; I could not even get close for months, but one day I perceived it on someone else, and at that moment, simply, magic happened; I sprayed it again and felt a delicious powdery scent, with present notes of coriander, carnation, rose, ylang-ylang, and moss; it is an elegant talc on the skin, classic, powerful, and versatile. In that sense, I have concluded that perfumes can change once they have oxygenated. In terms of performance, it is unsurpassable, with very notable projection and all-day fixation; on skin, nine or ten hours, and on clothes, it impregnates until you wash them. I received it as a gift, but I know it has a moderate price, so the quality/price ratio is excellent. Who will like it: lovers of powdery scents.

  • Benjamin Alamo - 1389

This perfume is undoubtedly exquisite. I imagine it as a caged leopard; it is for night, emanating with sweat, so it is perfect for after… It is embracing and behaves impeccably in the cold, but in summer it can turn dirty and the fragrance stagnates. Its combination of carnation and honey is addictive and are the protagonists, accompanied by green notes and a rose that pops up from time to time. In its dry-down, it feels very much like Paloma Picasso; however, Animale has a much more balanced animalic note. Its trail is very good, like a carnation soap, lasting about 8 hours, sometimes 10, depending on the climate. It is not a completely winter or summer perfume. For a 20-degree autumn, Animale reaches its peak performance. I do not see it as absolutely feminine; at least its aroma did not ‘surprise’ me as I sensed it in several masculine fragrances.

  • Soyyoymiperfume

I must say I am a fan of pre-existing fragrances; there must be some emotional connection with the past, when everything was different (not better or worse, just different). But my relationship with perfumes began when I was very young, when I only had access to my mother’s, and this was one of them… I stole from her, yes, I did steal a few sprays to smell like her, perfumed, and in a way, imagine I was imitating her essence… I remember she had several, and Animale was one of my favourites; I think I was very attracted to the bottle by its colours, but I also loved its contents. To this day, I still love it because it is a well-made perfume, it lasts forever, and it is different from everything I perceive on the streets today… I must confess that current commercial perfumery bores me somewhat; almost everything is the same, and when you want to stand out, the prices are very high… all this to explain that Animale is a great perfume, it is iconic, seductive, sensual, and sexual; I now understand why my mother had so many suitors hahahaha… if you are going to use it, spray little; do not exaggerate because one of the very strong points of this perfume is its fixatives; do not worry, with a little you will be perfumed all day, and yes, enjoy it.

  • Mr. Baskerville

Intense and certainly not suitable for sensitive people, moments, or company. It is certainly challenging; it opens extremely strong and does not lower the bar regarding projection or longevity until well into the day. I find this fragrance full of complexity. The first time I tested it, the aesthetic of Rachael, the character played by Sean Young in Blade Runner, came to mind: very 80s tailor style with kilometre-wide shoulder pads exaggerating the woman’s style and figure, with an impeccable and difficult hairstyle that highlighted the actress’s cold eyes and crimson red lips. She was a neo-noir femme fatale very much of the 80s, carried into a dystopian future landscape, but one that would have perfectly suited a high-society American party of that decade. A girl with that look, that gaze, and Animale, would have made Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice (the tough guy) look like a stretched, rebellively tantrum-throwing child. It’s fun to think about how it would be with the guys of today. If it were formulated today, I see it as a unisex proposal leaning slightly towards the masculine side (being denigrated by some as an impossible aroma). Having said that, I truly encourage younger ladies to try Animale with an open mind, as it is a good product and could result in a very good experience. On the other hand, I also encourage gentlemen; it is truly worth it. I will get a bottle in the near future.

  • nataliedrm

One of my mother’s signature perfumes for years. The curious thing is that it’s one of the few I never liked or wore (just like I never did with Paloma Picasso). It’s a bomb, and you can’t buy it blindly, because it’s a world of notes.

  • Totally intense; I find it very similar to Paloma Picasso. Even if you weren’t born in the era, this perfume transports you to the 80s when fragrances had so much character and power. Indeed, it’s not for everyone, but if you are lovers of vintage and intense scents, it could be yours.

  • Paola Rosalia

Intense, musky, unique. You enjoy it as the hours pass; it smells of roses and sandalwood to me. It reminds me of Soir d’Orient and Soir de Lune. Perhaps you need a certain age, time, and aromatic experience to truly appreciate it.

  • adabarcelona

Seriously… I’m going crazy. On the English forum, some say it’s very floral, others that it smells animalic, others that it’s soft and powdery, and then a legion claiming it’s incredibly strong and smells of wee… HELLO? This curiosity, combined with wanting something from the 80s, has made me buy it already; the variety of opinions on this creation is mind-blowing… HELP. Edit: Animale is for complex people, with strong personalities and unusual sensuality; nothing typical. Finally, I have it. I was scared to try it because here, according to votes, it supposedly resembles Montana. Fortunately, it does not, because I cannot stand Montana, even though it doesn’t smell bad and bears no resemblance whatsoever—not in the dry-down on the bottle, nor on my skin in any phase, which is the ultimate test. This perfume is multi-layered and very complex; it gives different sensations that mature every time you smell it in each stage. I love the opening and the first few minutes; it smells animalic and hormonal but synthetic (for me, this is an improvement; perhaps not in quality, but it’s not worth the painful extraction of that molecule when there’s a great synthetic imitation). Initially, it’s mega powerful, a definite ‘here I am’, with a strong personality without being overwhelming, thanks to the powdery touch which gives it a light, floating vibe. Persistent in that powdery note (please, not ‘stale’, stop using that word XD). It becomes floral in the next phase; nothing like cloying Rococo floral or mega-clean, but rather a dirty, animalic floral. In the dry-down, it’s a mossy, slightly green and dry chypre with a great persistent vintage base. Fortunately, it doesn’t resemble Aromatics Elixir, Youth Dew, or Knowing. Not all vintages are the same! This one doesn’t resemble anything; at best, it might recall them, but don’t compare them as similar. I believe it has some flowers and wood reminiscent of Giorgio Beverly Hills, but it’s not even a cousin. It also has the dry powdery vibe of Soir de Lune, but they are nothing alike. In short, it’s a fairly unique perfume; it’s incredible that it’s still sold. The bottle is a tribute worthy of the 80s, and the trail and sillage are simply memorable, which is very important in the era of fake gourmands.

  • Silviavivi

An eighties bomb with brutal projection and fixation on skin. Floral, chypre, sensual, with a host of notes all blended perfectly. Back then I also tried Paloma Picasso and Montana Parfum de Peau; they only resembled each other in intensity and complexity because each had its own signature (just like all fragrances from the 80s). By now, Animale is certainly reformulated, but if I had the chance to buy it again… I wouldn’t hesitate for a second.

  • It’s not the shadow of the original; I have no idea what they took away or added. I feel like I threw my money away. Elizabeth Taylor’s Diamonds and Rumba have also been reformulated; it’s the new trend of spoiling classic scents, and the longevity has gone to pot.
