A great disappointment if you expected something similar to the Arabic original. This is the version sold in Spain of its predecessor, Arabian Nights. They have nothing to do with each other; they are two distinct fragrances. This one has nothing of Arabian or Nights. It is a suede base with vanilla where violet, incense, some amber, and cedar stand out. It reminds me a lot of Dior Homme, especially Intense and Parfum, sometimes seeming to be one of them. It could be from Zara. I expected more than I got. Very expensive for a nice fragrance. Projection and longevity are moderate, no more than 6 hours at full strength, then it drops to skin level.
Companion, is 6 hours at full strength and a few more hours at skin level considered moderate?
I hate special editions for Arab millionaires that the rest of us can neither try nor buy due to scandalous prices.
If I take the Black Arabian Nights as a reference, its longevity is very poor. For me, the Black lasts over 16 hours at full strength; it’s brutal. That is why I say this version disappoints me so much in both duration and formula, as it smells more like Dior Homme…
Fantastic perfume. I like violet, and here it resembles the Jabonman soap, with a slightly greasy and powdery touch. Curiously, the rose feels like a citrus in the opening. The star is the violet, noticeable from start to finish. The only downside is that it burns the nose a bit, perhaps due to the cumin and incense; they don’t feel dirty or burnt—the incense is more like dry olibanum. There is little patchouli and musk, and I don’t know the cipriol. The amber and suede remind me of previous works by Polge: powdery and balsamic scents with iris. The amber is soft, more vanilla than labdanum, not very resinous. The suede shares much with Fahrenheit Parfum, which has vanilla; here it is soft amber. Performance: I can smell it without issue for 10 hours or more. It’s a pity it burns a bit, because that balsamic violet is top-tier.
The Arabian Nights Private Collection by Jesús del Pozo takes us on an olfactory journey with a rich opening where suede forms the backdrop. The incense is palpable, as if you were in a Middle Eastern shop filled with leathers and carpets. It is a fragrance that, while not projecting much, captivates through its sophistication and introspective character.
Smells like a sophisticated, eccentric millionaire, like the trail of a sheikh stepping out of a Rolls Royce. It’s incredibly rich and magnificent, now discontinued and a private collection piece, worth its weight in gold. You can still find it in shop basements in testers or decants, and you might get lucky, especially in Arab countries. Jesús del Pozo did a brilliant job: 100% masculine, a scent that leaves a mark wherever it goes. Every ingredient is well-made, true niche quality. If you can get your hands on it, buy it; it will become a legend. An uncommon aroma; when you wear it, people ask who you are and where you found such a perfume. It’s up to you to reveal the secret or keep the charm.
