A treat bought at the Rome train station… I did something dangerous by trusting solely in the opening, but fortunately the rest developed well. As other reviews say, it is not fresh, nor warm, nor spicy… adding: nor aquatic, nor saline… well, it is a little fresh, though we should not expect an explosion of freshness. Everything in it is very contained. It opens green with a citrus touch, which then moderates into something more woody. I won’t go into note details because there are things I simply don’t know how to describe. The dry down is like a sweet citrus, like a lemonade (not acidic), with a hint of sugar. It is an ‘old school’ fragrance but it doesn’t smell ‘old’. I smell it as elegant, same style as Loewe (though a different aroma). If I may ironise a reviewer YouTuber: it smells of class and money. It smells expensive. Of someone well-dressed and well-mannered, a true gentleman. In summary, a very masculine, clean fragrance, far from current trends but without seeming outdated, and for men who are a bit older.
Launched in 2004, it seems inspired by Eau Sauvage EDP but less resinous. I find it a modern scent (despite its classic inspiration) for men aged 35 to 40 and upwards.
I perceive it as a classic fougère, elegant and perfect for extreme heat.
A fine example of a well-made perfume, proving that classics never go out of style. A very fresh jewel to get lost in after a shower on a scorching day. A modernised fougère where green notes take centre stage, with a fresh citrus opening, an aromatic heart of geranium with lily-of-the-valley and white flower nuances, over a typical base of moss, cedar and musk. It simply smells incredibly good; excellent quality and distinctive without being innovative. It may remind you of many others, but it has that touch that sets it apart. If you want a signature fragrance without complications, timeless yet nothing of the past, and one that will see you off well in any situation, here it is.
