I tried this fragrance borrowed from a neighbour. At first, I thought it was very common, reminding me of sporty perfumes like Adidas or Polo Double Black. But then I noticed it’s the freshest chypre I’ve ever smelled. Its longevity is poor; I sprayed it a few hours ago and it barely smells now, just like its projection. I, who previously hated the Lacoste range, liked the scent, although it isn’t original. The blend of mint and citrus is very pleasant; I adore mint combined with almost anything. The bottle is also pretty.
This is the perfume I’m wearing right now: an incredibly fresh opening, a soft base with a touch of wood. Ideal for everyday wear, it could even handle a bit of sport. Sillage and longevity are regular, so you can reapply without worry; it’s more for personal enjoyment. It’s perfect for summer and spring, in hot climates or open spaces due to that refreshing sensation. It contains sage, which I usually dislike as it can be a bit harsh, but fortunately it’s intense only at the beginning and fades quickly.
I’m not sure what to say about the pyramid as it conveys something else to me. I knew one of the collection was watermelon and upon trying it, I thought this was it, as it maintains a fruity and sweet tone almost always; now I see the watermelon one is the black. Over time, that fruity scent becomes less sweet and more floral, reminding me of mandarin, which could pair with the bitter orange blossom note. I haven’t quite picked up the mint (perhaps it just adds freshness) nor the grapefruit. I do detect the sage with its spicy touch, and the fern… I have several at home and beyond a faint sensation of green foliage, they tell me nothing, so I’m unsure of their function. The overall effect is a bit like a cologne, lacking much realism or naturalness, but as I always say, at 25 euros online it’s a bargain, whereas the official price is a rip-off. Contrary to comments about performance, it worked well for me; I could smell it without issues, but with everything I’ve accumulated, I feel this doesn’t add much value.
THE MOST COMPLETE OF THE FAMILY: I wore this in 2013 alongside Blanc and Green; of the three, this was the most balanced with the best longevity. The citrus and mint notes provide a notable initial freshness; it smells slightly sweet but without reaching the extremes of Blanc. The woody notes complement it well and give it character, something Blanc and Green lacked. It was the only one with the potential for versatility, from informal to formal office wear, where it performed well. Longevity wasn’t wonderful, but it anchored better to skin and clothes, thanks to the patchouli and fern, resulting in a very balanced scent. It was youthful, discreet and resisted heat well; it didn’t have extraordinary performance but could be worn all year, though it shone more in spring and autumn. Not so much in heat, good for day, but not unreasonable for evening. What a pity they’ve discontinued it. Recommended sprays: 6 to 8. Longevity: 7.5. Sillage: Medium. Intensity: Medium.
THE MOST COMPLETE OF THE FAMILY: I wore this in 2013 alongside Blanc and Green; of the three, this was the most balanced with the best longevity. The citrus and menthol notes provide a notable freshness; it smells sweet but without going overboard like Blanc. The woody notes give it character, making it versatile: it suits everything from casual wear to formal office settings. Longevity wasn’t top-tier, but it clung well to skin and clothes thanks to the patchouli and fern. Youthful, discreet and heat-resistant, it shone in spring and autumn; with moderate heat it worked well by day and wasn’t bad for evening. What a pity they’ve discontinued it. Sprays: 6-8. Longevity: 7.5. Sillage: Medium. Intensity: Medium.
I’ve used it extensively and it strikes the perfect balance between freshness and elegance, making it ideal for hot weather, though it doesn’t quite reach the quality standards of true purists.
