Descripción
Eau du Badian by L'Occitane en Provence is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men, launched in 1999. Its olfactive composition unfolds with a vibrant combination of grapefruit, basil, and blackcurrant in the top notes. The heart reveals a harmony between star anise, fig, and coriander, while the base settles on sage and yerba mate notes.

It’s very long-lasting and ideal for a night out, but I wouldn’t recommend it for very hot days; better to wear it on cold, damp days. The touch of star anise with spices is very intense. It’s an uncommon scent that few manage to distinguish.
Of the three masculine scents I’ve tried from this brand, this is undoubtedly my favourite. What more could you ask for from such an unusual blend of grapefruit, basil, star anise and coriander? It includes fig, a note I usually dislike, but here everything is very well balanced. As the blog ‘Te de Violetas’ rightly says, the grapefruit is serious, bitter and imposing, conveying a dark, brooding sophistication. It’s rare for grapefruit to sound this good, unless it’s in Dior Homme Sport 2008 or Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose. This fragrance holds its own against Annick Goutal’s creations. It’s a fresh yet dark sophistication for the senses, highly recommended.
After wearing it for a full day, I confirm what Fragrantica user ‘fred’ said: it’s a rare scent that few notice at first, but it features a very marked touch of star anise and spices. It’s long-lasting with a subtle trail, although my office noticed it after five hours. The fig, which I normally don’t like, is handled so well here that it doesn’t bother me at all; in fact, I rather enjoy it.
I’ve had this bottle for years, bought back in 2012, and it’s a shame they no longer sell it. I still have three-quarters of it left and only use it for special occasions because it smells incredibly sophisticated and helps you stand out from the crowd. If you can get your hands on one, you won’t be disappointed.
