  What a pity no one has reviewed what could be this indie house’s final gem. Emperor Hind (the name gives me pause) opens with lemon and sweet orange, followed by jasmine, osmanthus, and a touch of earthy patchouli. In the dry down, the oud, sandalwood, and frankincense shine through as the most potent notes; they say there’s myrrh, but my nose can’t detect it, all very well-balanced. In short, it smells of faecal oud, like a ‘stable’, but who would want that? Aromas, like people or countries, carry different connotations, and that’s where perfume’s magic lies: they give you a glimpse into the tastes of other regions. If you love stinky oud, treat yourself (though unfortunately it’s no longer available), otherwise, follow your own path. They say it resembles Oud Maximus, but I don’t know that one.
