Amber Cologne by Bortnikoff is an ode to frangipani that evolves beautifully on the skin. It opens with an intense, vibrant frangipani, subtly spiced with creamy cardamom, blended with soft, sparkling citrus notes that highlight the flower without stealing its spotlight. It feels tropical, floral, and feminine. After 30-40 minutes, it shifts onto a bed of white flowers and jasmine with a sensual indolic nuance that, curiously, makes it feel more masculine—an unexpected twist that showcases its complexity. In the dry down, the frangipani returns, paired with woods that add body, alongside amber and salty notes reminiscent of ylang-ylang, creating an exotic, tropical aura. It lasts around 8 hours on a warm, humid day with a discreet yet noticeable projection. It shines brighter with heat and direct sunlight, perhaps projecting a little more. It doesn’t dominate the space, but those delightful bursts from time to time are a true pleasure for the senses.
One of the best ambers I’ve ever tried: a rich frangipani with a lovely citrus top where the amber settles and shimmers on the skin. It’s perfect, wonderful, nothing invasive, precious, unique, and addictive. Highly recommended.
