,A top fragrance typical of Bortnikoff’s Ouds. Perhaps not for beginners, but if you’re already immersed in the world of scents, it’s not excessively challenging. I absolutely love it, although I used to prefer Monarch or Maximus. It’s a blend of dark oud and animalic notes, particularly in the opening, with a floral/fruity touch that becomes more pronounced as it dries down (the orange is more noticeable in the attar). A magnificent and very interesting scent.
Not for beginners. The opening is basically oud + castoreum, and those two notes dominate. The castoreum smells like leather and feels incredibly ‘leathery’. It’s a very animalic oud where orange, citrus, and spices lurk in the depths, supported by a very light vanilla base. It’s a great perfume, but if you’re not accustomed to animalic notes that dominate, you’ll hate it. It’s extremely difficult for those without this taste. It’s masculine, though a woman would need strong personality to wear it. I like it and find it interesting; it has good longevity, but I’m not a fan of this oud-animalic combo; it tires me out. I have animalic perfumes with other combinations. Fans of Dusita’s Oudh Infini will enjoy this. Tom Ford’s Oud Wood Intense is ‘oud-castoreum’ and smells like leather, but it’s VERY friendly, like a photo of a sunny day with bees and birds. Mysterious Oud is simply a rough, animalic perfume that throws a challenge at your nose.
