Descripción
Oud Hindi by Bortnikoff is an oriental woody creation from the olfactory family, designed for both men and women. This fragrance, signed by perfumer Dmitry Bortnikoff, was launched in 2024 as a new addition to the collection. Its olfactory pyramid unfolds with an opening of bitter orange blossom, pink lotus flower, and amber; a heart that reveals sour cherry, also known as wild cherry, alongside guaiac wood and vanilla; and a warm, deep base composed of Indian oud and cedar.

If Bortnikoff tackles Oud, any niche and independent fragrance lover must take notice. As part of their renowned Oud collection, which is among the best on the market, anticipation is certainly heightened. Indian Oud is often iconic, sometimes carrying nuances of fermentation, stable, or even a hint of faecal notes, but with this Hindi Oud, the house brings something ‘for the whole family’. Although several notes are listed, Oud remains the undisputed star. Unlike other scents from the brand, there is a base of ambroxan, musks, and other molecules that cleanse the Oud, making it kinder and more wearable for everyone. The notes of orange blossom or cherry are barely perceptible to my nose, but they do help lighten the accord. Initially, for a brief moment, it can display a lactonic and fermented character which is a slight challenge. It will certainly generate divided opinions: purists may find it different from the brand’s signature, missing the sharpness of the typical spicy or floral notes from Bortnikoff that give a more natural finish. Furthermore, being Indian Oud, one expects something rougher, wilder, and more direct, yet this smells too cunning and lacks that wild aspect. On the other hand, the Oud accord is very pleasant and possesses the elegance to be a great fragrance. Undoubtedly, it is Bortnikoff’s attempt to make their fragrances more accessible (aromatically) to more people. It is a good perfume, suitable for any age and not as mature as other creations from the house. It has the versatility and gravitas to be worn on any occasion, which is a positive. In any case, it is an enjoyable fragrance worth trying. Best wishes.
