In my opinion it smells like the dry-down of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Le Parfum. This one smells similar but in a more mature stage; it feels quite like a coconut and cedar aroma that complements the iris and violet.

  • Nothing to do with Santal 33; it resembles Moncler Pour Homme and a bit of Lalique L’Insoumis but improved. As per its notes, it’s a green scent with woody touches, versatile for occasions but not youthful. In my experience, I don’t feel great performance (longevity, trail, and projection); it’s quite discreet. You’d have to spray it 15 times or more to be noticed, and reapply every 5-6 hours. Very good aroma, worth trying.

  • Montblanc Explorer Platinum is, without a doubt, the best fragrance from Montblanc in my opinion. It’s a pity the brand always feels like it’s missing something. This is the most unique and distinct of all; many people say it’s not, but I find it has a subtle touch of the normal Explorer, more balanced. Yes, it resembles Santal 33 but in a different vein; you can tell they didn’t want to make a dupe. It’s versatile, unique, balanced, and long-lasting, perfect for all terrains. It’s well worth it if you find it at a good price: in-store it’s 120$, but in Chile you can find the tester for 30$. It’s not a blind buy; it smells like someone who knows their path and doesn’t waste time on nonsense. It has coconut, but very subtle, like a scratch that achieves balance. I hope Montblanc gets its act together so fragrances like this keep improving.

  • A truly pleasant fragrance. It combines the floral touch with that wood in perfect harmony, being a sweet perfume but not cloying. The combination is very novel; it reminds me of notes from Brave Goose Monsieur (more floral and less powdery). It’s a proper spring perfume, although it’s excellent in early autumn or on cool summer days. In winter I think it lacks punch for very cold days, and I wouldn’t use it in extreme heat. The longevity is good for a 35 euro tester without needing constant reapplication. It stays in my collection, and for those starting out it’s an excellent price/quality alternative, the best of the explorers.

  • Something strange happens with this perfume for me: I feel it doesn’t project at all, but the scent close to the skin is eternal, as if your skin had that aroma. It’s not negative, simply it’s not made to attract attention. It’s a serious scent, perhaps formal, with that ‘dad smell’, but usable by younger people. It opens with a strong herbal explosion that passes quickly, leaving the wood as the protagonist. To my nose it smells like clean, noble wooden pencils, and according to those close to me, it’s very masculine. It’s quite an experience, but not for everyone.

  • Very rich; the sweetness feels creamy. It reminds me of Tous Le Colognes Concentrees for Men and the Allure Home Sport Blanche edition.

  • A very rich and fulfilling perfume. I can’t see myself using it; it has a more mature or discreet character. It doesn’t have much projection, but the longevity is good.

  • From what little I’ve used, the bottle is gorgeous: heavy, with fine details and a metal cap. The fragrance is richer than I expected; it’s not just for the office or mature men as some reviews suggest. It’s a floral woody scent with a sweet touch. Straight out of the bottle it smells very rich and floral, but as it dries down the sweetness recedes slightly and the wood comes forward. On skin I’d say it lasts about 6 or 7 hours; it’s not beast mode, but the projection is moderate and you’ll definitely catch it at a metre and a half. I’m sure women will like it, and anyone over 20 can wear it in any season. I’d give it 8/10. P.S.: After weeks, it impregnates clothes spectacularly, even after washing it still smells. Its projection and longevity are good. As a signature scent or for dates, it’s spectacular. I’ve had many perfumes and this surprised me because I wasn’t expecting much. Buy blind, you won’t regret it.

I tried it at first and it didn’t suit me; neither the scent nor the longevity were top-notch, but my wife loved it straight away. She’d occasionally wear it without me noticing much, until one day I noticed my jacket smelled divine, even though I’d been wearing it for ages. Yesterday I tried it again and wow, the magic was back! I don’t know if it was the weather, a change in my nose, or the perfume maturing in the drawer, but it blew my mind. It’s a proper stinker, lasts forever, projects like crazy for the first three hours, and smells spectacular. I hope they don’t reformulate it; it’s a unique, one-of-a-kind gem that you must own.

  • A good fragrance, noticeable yet non-invasive with good longevity (around 5 hours), but superior on clothes. I bought the 50ml at a good price and it lasted until the end of 2023. It smells different, fresh, with a predominant metallic touch (I don’t know where it comes from), but with a sweet floral that is accentuated by the cedar. For me, it’s very good for work, but for nothing else. Its price stands out and it doesn’t smell generic. It projects little, only in small spaces. In four months I received only one compliment, from a man inside the car at work. I give it a 7/10 overall.

  • My girlfriend’s favourite perfume. Probably due to the bluebell. It’s a scent between youthful and mature, ideal for daily wear. If you don’t know bluebell, it can seem very sweet, but for me it’s vibrant and needs a trained nose to enchant you. Spectacular longevity: 10-12 hours on my skin.

  • What an aroma, what an aroma… I’ve worn it for over a month and it’s very pleasant, too masculine and well-received. The opening is sweet and becomes woody and masculine. It’s an all-rounder, suitable for cold and heat without extremes. Good performance: with 8 or 10 sprays it lasts 8 or 10 hours without losing strength. The sillage is moderate; after two hours it becomes a personal bubble but still projects. If you try it, buy it, it’s a good option. Update: I see it as subtle, not astringent but noticeable, fresh-aromatic (without citrus) and perfect for cool days, day or night, with a woody base; I think the cedar has a creamy sandalwood touch.

  • I feel it smells like Santal 33, which takes points off for me, because that DNA smells like sweet Baygon to me, so I can’t say anything good about it.

  • I’ve tried it twice with no success. For me, it’s a synthetic sweet-metallic disaster. I love Explorer and UltraBlue, but I can’t do this one. I understand others might like it, but outside my opinion, it’s impossible to get compliments from it.

  • OlveraLopez

It smells strange within minutes, lasts 10-15 minutes, and then disappears. Once dried, it smells very good to me, nothing invasive, and perfect for the office.

  • It smells like newspaper to me, surely due to the metallic and ozonic notes. It shifts from green to soapy, very clean. It doesn’t last long; after two hours it’s skin scent, and by six hours it’s gone. It’s decent, rich, and worth it for the price. It’s a great gift for someone not deeply into perfumes. It smells original within the mainstream sweet crowd, can please anyone, and suits everything. Versatile, good, and cheap.

  • Ideal for everyday wear, casual dates, or semi-formal occasions. It opens metallic, ozonic, and floral with a sweet touch from the bluebell; it stays consistent as it dries. The violet and bluebell combination is exquisite, slightly sweet but not cloying. It’s floral, woody, and airy. If you pay attention, it smells of metal. The cedar and white wood provide cleanliness. I’ve received several compliments. Masculine, calm, clean, and neat, yet distinctive. It also worked brilliantly for my girlfriend. Longevity: 6 hours. Projection: moderate for 2 hours, reaching the elbow. Sillage: moderate initially, then soft for another hour. Discreet but rich up close. Batch March 2024.

  • I get a sweet pineapple-like touch. It smells like mixing Stallion 53 (without leather) with Rave Now by Lattafa.

  • molletmod.73

Like mixing L’Insoumís by Lalique JPG Le Beau and Kenzo Homme without the aquatic note. Tight aroma herbal due to the rosemary with a synthetic cedar base for structure and longevity. It has a slight hint of coconut or fig leaf watch out 100 synthetic note but very well made which makes it fresh pleasant and very wearable in offices public places and moderate temperatures without danger of overwhelming anyone. For heat above 30 degrees there are better things. I see it as masculine without excess without forced machismo or trendy floral ambiguities. Very good duration for the current designer landscape very contained price. Versatile and reliable. I don’t see it for picking up men in the nightspot where any drugstore clone of Invictus Million or Sauvage will eat you alive. The French feather house Montblanc without going for the posh girl or trying to impress with weird designs or the eighth aromatic wonder is working hard on making commercial fragrances with very good value for money. The result the sales. Let the competition learn. Don’t ask for pears from an elm lad. It’s not a blatant rip-off of trendy pop fragrance it’s super accessible you have it in the Druni/Douglas/Primor on the corner to try it they give samples in many places and besides come on it’s well made. Santal 33? Take a deep breath and say 33 please. Metal? Yes Iron Judas Pantera and Slayer.

  • You smell Explorer Platinum and you think of: work job situation. Normally I only use it for the office meetings chats… It projects an image of a professional calm and responsible man. Despite that use it’s a very versatile fragrance. Excellent duration of 7 to 8 hours. Projects as it should and then stays in a perceptible bubble until the end without being annoying. Perfect for intermediate seasons. I have about 40 perfumes several niche and honestly this is the one that has given me the most compliments. I prefer to detect reactions and with this I’ve noticed that several people have come up to tell me I smell good. Excellent fragrance and quite original. Edit: less than a year later I think in my bottle (well kept) the opening is spoiling a bit.

  • At first it didn’t convince me but once it dries down it’s something else simply rich and excellent. It projects too much for the first two hours.

Alert fragrance lovers! I haven’t seen mass reviews and it has me curious because it has everything you’re looking for: longevity trail and lasts days on clothes. It’s not the same as Santal 33; it’s a slightly sweet wood perhaps due to the violet and rosemary but it’s addictive. Perfect as a signature fragrance can be used all year round even in formal moments. What a great fragrance congratulations to Montblanc!

  • Very good smells masculine projects and lasts like a dream. For the price I recommend it 100% although the original Explorer is better this one is a cracker too. I use it for the gym uni ideal for everyday use except in intense cold.

Hello! This Montblanc is a hidden gem. A gem! Little is said about it but it hooks ladies 100%. It smells of violet leaves mineral notes a bit of rosemary (ozonic) and an impeccable finish with cedar and perhaps a touch of patchouli. Does it resemble Santal 33? Yes it has the air of it but Santal is very dry and woody; the Explorer Platinum is rounder floral and sweet (not gourmand). Its woody dry-down is of another quality. It’s not linear; it has defined stages. I’ve had three bottles since 2023 and use it as a magnet to calm people down; it softens and makes people treat you calmly. If your girlfriend or wife is angry about going out without you use this the next day and you’ll see how gently she treats you. The presentation is impeccable better than many niche brands. The notes are of superior quality very well blended. It’s very pleasant. There is one very similar the Bravo Monsieur by El Ganso but this one has less cardamomo in the opening and they are similar at the end without being identical. Blind buy? Yes and again women love it. It lasts more than 8 hours and projects well. It lasts days on clothes. Do not hesitate to try it. The price is ridiculous for what it is. Watch out buy from official sites.

  • So few votes for something this good. It’s not a beast in terms of projection but every time I walk up to greet someone men and women ask what I’m wearing. It lasts about 5-6 hours on the skin and while it doesn’t project for miles up close it’s a total hit.

  • A soft fragrance with floral ozonic and woody notes. To be honest I wasn’t expecting this; at first that ozonic note smells a bit odd almost bitter but it passes quickly to reveal a rich violet and wood. It’s a little subtle and seems to cling not much but the hours pass and it’s always noticeable. It lasts more than 6 or 8 hours although the trail is just right. It’s serious and mature ideal for the office or cold formal settings; it might not suit more relaxed places. I’d give it an 8/10.

  • 2025 Update: I bought a batch two years ago and it still smells lovely. Upon application, you first note a sweet herbal scent with a woody base, the helichrysum predominates, then it softens until you feel those non-dry woods. It’s creamy, nothing strident, with a herbal, sweet, and woody development. Fresh and lasts easily 4 or 5 hours. It’s a rich Montblanc magnet; for the price, it’s worth it if you want to try something new. I bought it recently and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made in perfumery.

  • JohnLecter86

Super versatile and friendly perfume with an elegant touch. Worth the money and can be bought blind without hesitation. Opening is semi-fruity and herbaceous, heart is floral and green, and base is woods (perhaps cedar) with a hint of musk. If you collect perfumes, this shouldn’t be missing; if you want an all-rounder that won’t leave you stranded, this is it. Longevity is 10 hours on my skin, though from the fourth hour onwards it stays on the skin but is still noticeable. Projection is decent for the first 90 minutes, then it becomes a personal bubble. Perfect for close-range situations and the office, giving that elegant touch without being annoying. Highly recommended.

  • Batch 01/24, incredible scent. I own several perfumes for hot and cold weather, but nothing compares. At first, it smells like vinegar or pickles in brine, but believe me, within five minutes it evolves into some absolutely delicious woods. It’s 100% masculine; I imagine someone with their life completely sorted. It smells like a cold cabin with the fire lit, that scent of wood drying before it’s burned. It’s going to become my signature; something has me hooked. I’m not an expert, but I bought blind and have no regrets. The longevity is beastly: I applied it at 9pm, showered, and at 9am it was still detectable; on clothes, it lasts until I wash them. If you want to smell good all day, this is for you. The trail is moderate; it doesn’t flood the room, but you’d sacrifice anything to smell it. I haven’t tried the others in the line, but this is the best of the three. I asked ChatGPT about layering and it said it pairs well with the Explorer Black; as I don’t own that, I use the CDN Intense Man instead, and ufff, if you have those two, try them, it’s a delight. Suitable for any occasion, day or night.

  • José Alfredo Bustamante M

Very good and versatile aroma, ideal for the office. It’s not beastly, but it’s noticeable; fresh and clean, neither too formal nor overly youthful, simply perfect.

  • Sr.Gentleman

I tried it and was instantly hooked, so I took it. The batch 23 box arrived with the cream and a 10ml sample, but the opening smells like cheese, specifically foot cheese. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I got unlucky; I’d read that it can go off over time. Please check this out just in case.

  • It happens to me with violet as with iris: I like the aroma, but I’m not sure if I’d want to smell like that, especially when the note is very prominent. Here the violet is always present, which makes it delicate; you must compensate with clothing and character to avoid making a bad impression. It’s a sharp violet smell, more sharp violet, linear, without evolution; I see nothing new. There were other perfumes with a similar smell before, but usually in masculine ones they are discontinued. To highlight longevity: on my skin it lasted 7-8 hours, projecting for 3-4 hours, and on the shirt it still smelled strong for days; after a week it still smelled, though very faint. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it blindly, especially if you like very masculine aromas; I don’t see it for romantic situations, more for a jovial vibe. If you already know the violet smell and like it, this is a good option.

  • I feel very sharp with it. It has a woody base but is very bright. I’m smelling it right now and it pushes me away; it’s extremely strong, hard to perceive the notes well. I sense a rich smell especially when it’s dry, with a clear violet, but I don’t feel it as excessively floral. Common smell, not original but not bad. At its price, it’s decent, but very synthetic to my taste.

  • It’s a great fragrance that depresses me because it doesn’t suit my skin. It happens to me with Mr. Gentleman too; it doesn’t turn ugly. I was fascinated by it on paper and bought it. The first use felt good, but less than expected. With subsequent wears, it literally smelled like sweat mixed with damp clothes left in a closed space, very unpleasant. It’s due to my skin type. Definitely not for heat; rapid oxidation gives it that bad smell. After half an hour, it becomes acceptable. All this to say: before buying, get a decant and test how it reacts on your skin. The scent is rich, dry, not sharp. Some feel it as citrus, I don’t. Dominant notes are violet leaves, a dry almost aquatic wood, and a rough herbal touch. Linear development. Lasts 7 hours, projects and leaves a strong trail for an hour and a half, an ethereal trail that dominates the room. In my case I wouldn’t rate it to the maximum, but the quality deserves it. Please test it well before buying. If your skin combines with it, it could be your TOP.

  • An adventurous aroma, mountainous, woody and earthy. Goes perfectly with earth-toned clothing. Decent longevity: 2-3 hours projecting and 6-7 hours on skin. 8/10.

  • ikerperseo

Smells different from what we wear daily: green, earthy, with a floral touch. I wouldn’t recommend it blindly; it’s a gamble. Lasts 6-7 hours, no beastly projection but people do notice it. Something curious happened with a friend; at first she disliked it with a strange look, but half an hour later she got hit by bursts and loved it. Very masculine, nothing youthful.
