Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2002, this composition was created by Christophe Laudamiel and Bruno Jovanovic. The top notes feature fir alongside lemon, orange, marine accents, cardamom, and petit grain. The heart reveals rosemary, valley lily, jasmine, sage, and rose, while the base settles on musk, vetiver, oakmoss, Brazilian rosewood, and sandalwood.

  • Ideal for Autumn, of course during the day, they say it’s for young people, I’m 48 and I use it and I feel great. Regarding reformulations, I can’t say anything, I bought it on Abercrombie’s online store in mid-June 2017 and from the start the sillage and longevity seem average, I’ve sprayed three on my torso and two on both sides of my neck and they last all day, and in the end I smell that part of Abercrombie’s musk which is very fine and I love it, I already said the longevity without problems is true, but the sillage drops considerably as hours pass, but that’s not my concern. Regarding the notes, I’m not an expert, I’m new to Fragantica, although my passion with perfumes I want to share with everyone, well the notes: Musk and fir and finally sweet, there’s something I like that persists and I think it’s the musk that lasts throughout the development of the perfume. Regarding copies, I’m not a fan, I think it’s better to save a bit more and buy what you like, because you’ll enjoy it and be happier with the money invested.

I had great curiosity to try this fragrance after reading in several blogs and forums treating it as the sexiest in the world and based on the comparison my compatriot made below with Reef’s Tasmania, my instant desire vanished, because if this is true, I don’t want to be walking around smelling like a clothing store air freshener, pass. Not even if it were the only fragrance women liked.

  • I just bought Abercrombie Fierce and Polo Sport… Sincerely, I expected more from Polo, and the surprise was Abercrombie, wow!! Fierce has 95% of the opening of Montblanc Legend, I like its combination of spices and above all its citrus touch, longevity and sillage last between 5 and 6 hours, it’s recommended for daily wear, in the office, you’re going to impress women… As for Polo Sport, I think it’s a very mentholated scent, fresh for the heat, and a classic I’ve heard thousands of times in spring-summer (I think it’s of lower quality than Fierce)… Rating (scent, projection, longevity and sillage) Fierce 9 Polo Sport 8.

Smells very rich, citrusy and fresh. Has its sexy touches that women love. One of the best fresh fragrances for everyday wear and for conquering at the same time.

  • I’ve been craving Fierce for a long time, especially because I love the smell emanating from Stradivarius clothing stores, which floods the street as soon as you pass the door. A carefree, youthful, yet impactful scent. And finally it arrived, I tried it, and yes, it reminded me of that smell, but above all, it reminded me of Egoiste Platinum. At least, that was the first impression. Completely pleasant, fresh, neither very sporty nor very formal. 100% American school, that is, the kind of men’s perfume that seeks to ‘smell clean’. But I couldn’t help thinking: if I already have the Platinum -remember that Chanel’s perfume was designed for the American market-, why would I want this? With successive tests, nuances emerged, and finally, the infatuation. Chanel’s perfume is much colder, almost icy, has a refined and soapy base, and in general terms, is more polished. In contrast, Fierce responds faithfully to the American spirit: simpler, more direct, no nonsense, blending citrus, flowers, wood, and oak moss to transmit that energetic and happy feeling all the time, blatantly youthful, but in the way it was understood in the 90s (is it really from 2002?). It has a Denomination of Origin, so to speak. It comes in cologne concentration, but this type of ‘concentration’ specification, I don’t know what on earth it’s for, as Fierce possesses a performance superior to many eau de toilettes and even eau de parfums. Very good in this sense, well above both the Platinum and most fragrances in its genre. I must clarify that I own the modern version. The real deal. Thumbs up. My ten out of ten.

Certainly it has a great resemblance to Mont Blanc Legend, but this one is more powdery (not much), and that’s what gives it that semi-formal use and makes it less elegant than Mont Blanc Legend. It’s a good perfume that stands out in the office. It’s not a compliment machine, but in perfumery that’s how it is; there are fragrances that don’t appeal to your nose but make others go ‘Wuuuaaaa’. I own both fragrances and when one runs out, buying just one of the two is fine and leaving the choice for another, more different fragrance.

  • LUIS HEINSTEIN

A very herbal and soapy scent; I won’t say it doesn’t smell good, simply it’s not to my liking or my style, plus the price is ridiculously expensive, but it’s just my personal opinion, try it before buying, very similar to Mont Blanc Legend which is three times cheaper and has very similar performance.

  • I bought it blindly because my brother said it was the best scent he’d ever tried, after asking a colleague who wore it to work. But upon receiving it, what a surprise; nothing like it. Moreover, the price isn’t worth what it offers. There are perfumes ten times better that cost ten times less. The downside is that it smells exactly the same all the time. I don’t understand why they insist it’s citrusy; from my point of view, it has nothing of citrus. It’s sweet and sharp, feeling somewhere between sticky and soapy, leaning more towards shower gel. Somewhere it reminds me of Sauvage. I also notice something metallic, like something new, and it even smells like an elevator, haha. Lastly, there are nuances reminiscent of cosmetics or make-up, but very subtle. Longevity: excellent (in my case), one of the longest-lasting on skin. On clothes, needless to say. Value for money: it’s not worth it. Look for something that justifies that price, like a Dior, Chanel, or Creed. There are better options at that price, even cheaper ones of superior quality. A disappointment for me. Scent: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 6/10 Sillage: 7/10 Value for money: 2/10 Blind buy: 5/10 Season: all year round.

  • It smells sweet and clean, very pleasant. They say it resembles Montblanc Legend, but it’s the reverse: Fierce came out nine years earlier and they only resemble each other in the opening. Then Fierce maintains that clean, pleasant scent, while Legend becomes darker, more formal, and has nothing to do with it anymore. The longevity is superior to eight hours with a projection of at least three. The price is very high; the 3.4oz bottle costs almost $90 in the official store. For this 2022, the bottle was updated, and additionally, A&F launched a Fierce collection with seven scents, all related but clearly different.

  • Albertino

For me, it’s an ambroxan version of By Dolce&Gabbana, but far inferior to the latter. You can find it in Divain 001.

  • I thought about it a lot before buying, but I saw a sponsored YouTuber swearing it was the best of the 90s, almost his youth bottled. To me, it smells like CK Eternity, that is, peeing on grass in the morning. Lately I’ve tried several Halloween clones of other perfumes; I feel Rock On mixes air with Gucci Guilty and the mint from Le Male. In the end, everyone spends their money on the decade they choose, but every era will have a perfume that isn’t worth it because it smells like a cheaper copy and becomes generic, like Invictus.

  • alfredoramirez

It was a wonder. Recently I bought the 200ml edition and unfortunately, it seems like water. The scent disappears after four hours. It’s extremely expensive for what you get.

  • Ignacio2206

2020 batch, 50ml: Perhaps it was a beauty with good longevity and projection at first. Now, in 2022, I was gifted it and it’s the same: low longevity and little projection. Nothing more.

  • Lucifer2409

It’s a delicious, easy-to-please fragrance with a modern aroma. The woody and floral notes stand out; if you want to try florals, start here. It smells clean and pleasant; I’m sure it will bring you many compliments.

  • It’s hooked me! I bought it for the notes (I love marine scents) and the reviews. Upon application, it smells clean, soapy, and new, then matures into moss, rosewood, and sandalwood, which are the most noticeable. Here in Colombia, almost no one wears it, giving it a unique, youthful, and sophisticated touch, like a young wealthy person or yuppie. It performs in summer but better on mild days, not in extreme heat.

  • Saul Goodman

I really like it. It’s fresh, slightly sweet, and dries down with a faint talc-like note. I’m not sure what I love more, the opening or the dry down. It’s masculine but nothing serious or formal. My 2022 batch lasts six hours on the skin and leaves a trace on clothes for the next day; it doesn’t dissipate so easily.

  • luisferg98

Although the reformulations have reduced its performance, I remain delighted. I’ve been wearing it since secondary school and it’s my go-to fragrance. Nowadays it still has a decent projection for an hour and lasts at least five hours on the skin; it sits well on clothes too. Ideal for summer: fresh, imposing, and perfect for everyday wear.

  • Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch was launched in 2002 and I’ve only just tried it. An undeniable fact is that the aroma is one of the most copied and recognised in the history of perfumery; despite having tried it only recently, I’ve been able to smell many fragrances inspired by it, such as Legend Montblanc, Tous Man Intense, Perry Ellis 2018, Azzaro Sport, etc. Speaking specifically of Fierce, it is an aromatic, woody, floral, and musky fragrance. In its opening, it has citrus and some aromatic elements, a bit aquatic. As the minutes pass, a sort of lavender, sandalwood, musk, and perhaps salvia are perceived, which give it the characteristic clean scent that made it so popular. Fierce is a daytime fragrance, one of those that puts me in a good mood, to be used in any season of the year, outdoor outings, at school, or for office use. Its longevity was a maximum of 5 hours with almost low projection, very close to the skin to perceive its aroma. The scent remains pleasant and tasty, however there are so many fragrances inspired by it that probably only you will know you’re wearing Fierce, because I doubt anyone will distinguish if you brought one of its inspirations, which are sometimes cheaper. Still, for those who used it since it was launched, I’m sure they will prefer it over others, but for those who haven’t known it since then, I only recommend buying it if you find it at a good price; otherwise, with one of the mentioned fragrances, you will find a good alternative.

  • I bought it again during a trip to the US and noticed it has changed drastically compared to my 2009 bottle. This 2022 batch seems reformulated: it’s less intense, the longevity is poor, and the projection is average. What a shame; it used to be a hit, now I only keep it for the collection.

  • felipe_aravena

Scarce longevity and a soft sillage, it’s throwing money in the trash, I don’t recommend buying it at all.

  • Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch: There has been much talk about this fragrance, that it resembles many others, that it’s expensive, that it already has its past, that it no longer surprises, and that it feels very generic. And well, although they have a point, this always stands out. While it can be generic and perhaps not surprise as much, and yes, effectively there are some that resemble it, it’s that wearing this always makes a note, it has a ‘something’ that sets it apart from the rest. Neither Montblanc Legend nor any other equals it; they play in the same league and if there is a resemblance, that’s all. This fragrance delivers, is liked, and remains perfectly relevant to this day. I could barely get hold of it as it was too expensive for what it is, however I’ve been lucky to find it on offer and acquired it; I’m happy because although similar to several, it really isn’t the same and as this, exactly like this… there isn’t. It’s not that it’s the super fragrance or the super exquisite and sexy one, no, but it does have that and is easily a step ahead of the others that imitate it. It’s worth it whenever you find it at a reasonable price; I paid it in ‘Clearance’ at 60% OFF, for 30 dollars, and it was irresistible. Its use is very versatile: day, afternoon, night, office, outings with friends, and even dates look good, perhaps for something more elegant there are other options. Scent: 9.0, Projection: a little over 2 hours, Longevity: between 7 and 8 hours. Recommended.

  • I bought it when Fierce was hard to get and very expensive, but I enjoyed it drop by drop to make it last and used it for special occasions. Now I only have a 10ml concho left… and suddenly they gifted me this L’Bel New Code fragrance and my surprise was immense. L’Bel New Code is almost a clone of my dear Fierce, with very slight differences: a touch more citrus, soapy, and metallic, but it doesn’t matter. It’s a catalogue perfume that wasn’t on my radar, full of prejudices etcetera, and now it has designer-level quality. Wouuu, when did they change? The issue is the price I paid versus what this L’Bel offers and its quality… so I bought four units. Congratulations to this catalogue brand for finally making a difference and offering quality. They gifted it to me because they knew I liked that scent and went to the trouble of searching, reading reviews etcetera… it’s a made-to-measure gift.

  • My first fragrance, what a pity I didn’t make the most of it. It’s an all-rounder, slightly formal but totally versatile, a wood perfectly combined with citrus, it’s exquisite. My go-to fragrance from the moment I bought it until it ran out, an incredible aroma. 9/10 longevity, 8/10 projection, 7/10 blind buy, 8.8/10 price, 6.5 final note; personally, I’d give it a 9.

  • Christophersosa

The old batches were an excellent fragrance, but the recent ones don’t have the same longevity. It used to be one of my favourites, the one I used most; however, I bought one recently and it’s not at all the same as what I used in past years. A good recommendation would be Montblanc Legend (less longevity) or Montblanc Legend EDP (greater longevity). It has an excellent and rich aroma, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

  • Wilson Manolito

I have the new 200ml batch with the clear bottle and it lasts very well for me, reaching up to 10 hours. It’s a perfume with a very recognised (and imitated) DNA that results in a very attractive and youthful scent.

  • STGO.DECANT

But what a gem, 4×4, versatile for all year round and the full 24 hours. I bought a 200ml bottle and it always lasts on my skin between 7 and 8 hours. A 10/10, pure gem. For those who say it doesn’t last at all: take plenty of water, avoid fats, alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and spices. The most important thing is that it works great at moderate temperatures, between 20 and 25 degrees.

  • jorge.guadarrama

From the first spray, it envelops you with fresh and citrus notes, particularly bergamot and lemon, combined with a spicy ginger touch. Over time, the heart reveals a woody and floral mix with sandalwood and jasmine, giving it a deeper, more masculine feel. Although it smells good, its longevity isn’t the best and it tends to fade within a few hours. It’s ideal for daily use and casual occasions where you’re looking for something fresh and masculine, but you might need to reapply during the day. The bottle is simple and practical, perfect for someone who wants something that works without complications.

  • Just opened a new batch and the performance is brutal; you can tell the difference. It lasts over 7 hours and projects like crazy for the first two hours with just ten sprays. It’s hard to compare it to Montblanc Legend EDP even though they share notes: Fierce is fresh, sharp, and citrusy, whereas Legend is denser and soapy. Legend lasts longer on the skin but doesn’t project at all in comparison. As for scent, I prefer the A&F cologne. The Legend EDT, which I’ve tried several times, performs terribly and is gone from the skin after two hours.

  • A classic that I’ve always loved. I used to go to Stradivarius just to smell the atmosphere (they use it as a room freshener). I remember paying over £120 for 50ml when it was hard to find; now I’ve got it for under £50 for 100ml. Girls like it a lot; I see it as fresh, sexy and very versatile, although in the middle of winter with the cold, something spicier is better.

  • AntonioLeón

Since I’d already heard it before in a body spray at a market and it never really appealed to me, as I associated it with that cheap body fragrance, well… meh. I suppose it’s not my type, it smells nice. Giving it a seven as the minimum passable mark. It looks nice, I’d finish the bottle but I’d mix it up.

  • EnriqueSeguraJ

It’s brilliant, mid-range price and incredible quality. Fresh and very attractive. Less common than Aqua di Giò, Issey Miyake or Happy by Clinique… and better, although Aqua di Giò is also a winner, just more expensive.

  • Marlon DG

The truth is, Benetton United Dream Aim High is very similar; I don’t know if it has a bit of Montblanc Legend in it, but it smells to me like that Aim High from Benetton.

  • diegomagadan

It’s the quintessential perfume for people without personality. It smells masculine, yes. But it’s the classic aroma you’d find on any average man. Boring, lacking anything interesting.

  • Marco Galicia

I just got it, and the truth is, it doesn’t last even a moment. With the old one on my skin, it lasted over eight hours; this one doesn’t even reach two.

  • This morning I was in a shopping centre. As I entered a corridor, a lady next to me asked: ‘What perfume are you wearing?’. I smiled and told her Abercrombie Fierce. She said it smells nice. I no longer smelled this beautiful fragrance on myself, but that’s its magic: its scent, which seems to have vanished, always accompanies you in important moments of approaching someone, and I like that, it invites people to come closer. It’s not an offensive smell; there are bursts from its short but secure and perfect trail. I won’t say more, for me it’s the best fragrance, fresh, sexy, clean, and its dry-down is exquisite and addictive. Ladies come up to smell it and ask what you’re wearing. Perhaps because it’s masculine, it smells like a man but not an older man, rather a clean man. I don’t know why, but I always return to it.

  • An ultra-fresh, clean fragrance that smells a bit basic, but it’s truly easy to wear, ideal for after a shower or in the office. It gives off a clean scent. The downside is its longevity is non-existent; at best two hours on clothes and less on skin. It’s not worth the price; the Mont Blanc Legend Negro EDP is a thousand times better.

  • My exposure to perfumes halted around six years ago, surely the pandemic played a part. Now that I’ve regained my interest, I’ve stumbled upon the vast, unexplored world of Arabic scents and my mind is blown. Returning to my old bottle of Fierce, it now seems so flat, so simple. Once it was something special, but now I feel it lacks something. What I’ve done is use it for layering with other scents to boost it. The best pairing has been with Qaed al Fursan, which adds that sweet, long-lasting pineapple note to Fierce’s woody base.
