Descripción
Vodka on the Rocks by Kilian is an aromatic fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2014, this composition features the olfactory signature of Sidonie Lancesseur. The top notes of aldehydes, coriander, and cardamom open the way; the heart reveals rhubarb, valley lily, and pink rose; while the base settles on ambroxan, oakmoss, and sandalwood.

This fragrance is my favourite of Kilian, unique in my opinion and very original. An opening that showcases cold spices, where you find coriander at higher potency and the cold spice of cardamomo enters; it’s something unique that allows you to feel full within the fragrance and confident in using it. The heart notes feel somewhat green and botanical, which go very well with the others, and at the end, we find an enveloping ambroxan that demonstrates the adequate construction and formulation to give you those perfectly harmonious notes. Definitely a fragrance you must own and with which you will stand out in casual occasions.
What a delightful surprise this Kilian fragrance is. I went with the intention of trying Black Phantom, but the friendly shop assistant gifted me some samples of Vodka on the Rocks. When I tried it, my surprise was immense; although I liked Black Phantom a lot, I consider this one even better. It’s a fragrance that clings to the skin and creates that effect of wanting to smell it all the time, perfect for a date. The opening delivers that vodka aroma very well, with excellent cardamom and ambroxan embracing the blend to make it very attractive. It’s one of those perfumes that projects class. I will definitely buy a bottle. On my skin, it lasts about 6-7 hours.
On first sniff, it sounds ultra-familiar. It bears a strong resemblance to Parfums de Marly’s Percival. It’s very fresh and easy to wear, green, woody with a touch of white floral. Perhaps the only thing missing in the notes is lavender, but if you compare it to Percival, you’ll notice the similarity, with or without lavender. It has a slightly greater trail and projection than the other, more weight and a denser punch, so if you already own one of the two, it would be redundant to have both, considering they aren’t budget-friendly. Perfect for everyday wear, the office or interviews: fresh, cheerful, revitalising, a hit of energy and good vibes, aimed at people over 25, suitable for both formal and informal occasions; simply a joy. Scent 8/10, Trail 6.5/10, Longevity 6/10, Projection 7/10.
Smells more like vodka than gin and tonic to me, and leans heavily towards the tonic side, yet it’s an ultra-realistic and very fresh scent that I absolutely loved. I went to smell it in the store because they say it resembles Percival, one of my favourites, so I had to try it. For me, they have nothing to do with each other (I smelled them simultaneously), but given how many perfumes I’ve tested before, I’m sure I’ll give it another go. It feels like it must be very pleasant to wear, setting aside the molecules and weird stuff; it’s the ‘least annoying perfume that exists’. Ultra-light, pleasant and undoubtedly very versatile.
Delicious and fresh aroma, as if you have just opened a bottle of fine vodka, though it also reminds me of a dry martini, delightful. I would use it daily; it is versatile and could be worn every day. The only drawback is a very poor performance 🙁 It gives a sensation of cleanliness, elegance, and total revitalisation.
A dear friend taught me how to drink a gin and tonic; that was the summer of 2010, many years ago. I was younger, my marriage had been five years, just like my friend’s; we were busy swapping nappies, sleeping little and laughing a lot. The best part of a gin and tonic is drinking it from a very wide-mouthed glass so that when you tilt it towards your mouth, your nose also goes into the glass. A fresh summer breeze, humid heat, good friends and ice… this prodigy smells exactly like that. Thank you for those moments, all of them bottled up in this small bottle.

How do you make a perfume with vodka? Or better, how do you extract the essence of vodka and put it in a bottle? I would really like to know… How will they do it? I suppose they mix and mix and mix oils, essences of different things until ‘cataplum!’ this wonder is created. What a lovely perfume.
In the 70s, you could take this tour through the former USSR if they let you, taking the Trans-Siberian train west from Vladivostok and ending up in Red Square to the east, drinking caviar and vodka (some champagne). This perfume brings me waves of memories from those years. It’s a very well-crafted broth and a personal taste.
I love it and use it in summer when it is hot; it refreshes everything it touches.

In the 70s, one could take this tour through the former USSR if permitted: catch the Trans-Siberian train west from Vladivostok and end up at Red Square in the east, drinking caviar and vodka (perhaps some champagne). This perfume brings back memories of those years. It is a very well-crafted blend and a matter of personal taste.
I liked the notes and purchased a decant, which is hard to find, so I got one from a private seller. The notes do not stand out separately. The opening is a hyper-realistic vodka, so much so that wearing it in summer made me feel hot. After half an hour, it smells like an elegant aromatic cologne for men. It is quite durable for such a fresh scent. I will not buy the full bottle because it is very masculine and I do not like alcohol-heavy scents.
Kilian’s Vodka on the Rocks: for neat, elegant gentlemen who take care of their image. Women certainly wear it, but it is undeniably masculine. It is not vintage; rather, it has a classic yet contemporary touch that projects clarity, confidence, and conciseness. I am fascinated by these aromas; they are poetry for the senses. A freshness that caresses and captivates like a siren’s song. It is a winner anywhere, ideal for building trust and making a good impression, projecting an air of high class. It reminds me of a refreshing Gin Tonic with a sweating glass, ice cubes, and the heat outside—a sensation of calm, relaxation, luxury, and comfort. Suitable for day and evening, radiating light and freshness, though perhaps less striking at night. (my opinion) Excellent for executive environments. Scent: 10. Projection: over 2 hours. Longevity: 7 hours. Recommended.
Kilian’s Vodka on the Rocks. For men who like a neat and elegant image, demonstrating that they are very careful about their appearance; it’s not that a woman couldn’t wear it, but for me, this perfume is totally masculine. Not of the old school or vintage, but it does have a classic and contemporary reminiscence that marks the countenance of clarity, of a person who is concise, direct and confident. Personally, I am fascinated by this type of aroma; they are a true poetry to the senses. A freshness that caresses you and, like a siren’s song, catches you and won’t let go. Wherever you go, this fragrance is a winner; if you need to create an atmosphere of trust, an approach, a good impression, or to project high class, Vodka on the Rocks is the choice. It brings to mind a refreshing gin and tonic with the glass sweating from the ice inside, and the external heat; a sensation of calm, relaxation, luxury and comfort. Its use can be well suited for day and evening; it is a fragrance that radiates light and freshness, perhaps not looking as good at night as during the day (my opinion). Excellent fragrance for an executive environment. Scent: 10. Projection: Just over 2 hours. Longevity: 7 hours. Recommended.
Very masculine.
Smells good and is of good quality, but it feels generic. The longevity is terrible; after just 2-3 hours, only a memory remains.
Fresh and elegant, suitable for any occasion. While it isn’t my favourite scent, it certainly has its moments.
