  I keep seeing people on Fragrantica complaining about their sense of smell, blaming those YouTubers who won’t shut up. Oriental Opulence is brutal: it has three distinct notes, spices, tea/oud, and a dry, metallic, wilted rose. The spices hit sharp and slightly sweaty at first; the rose is bright, almost shrill, but it holds its own without veering into tamarind-like vulgarity (unlike Toy Boy), unfolding strongly without overwhelming the rest. The tea and oud are harmless, like a red tea infusion with a mineral touch of dry wood, yet combined they are magnificent. They finish with warm amber and patchouli with leather nuances. It’s potent and overwhelming if you don’t measure out, but with good performance and nothing like the disaster they claim, it’s a great fragrance for fans of these accords, Ganymede 🤦♂️
