To me, Vanille Soleil tries to be a Diptyque Ilio, even though the notes don’t quite match. The overall scent is very similar: soft vanilla and ylang-ylang that smell like sun cream, with a floral touch that prevents it from being cloying. It’s a summer fragrance, though nothing as complex as the Ilio (which, for me, evokes nostalgia and past summers, something incomparable and very personal). In terms of value for money, it stands up to the brand. I see it as perfect for carrying in your bag during summer, a real treat for perfume lovers. If you’re looking for fragrances that smell like summer (specifically beach and sun cream): the Ilio, of course; Lust for Sun by Juliette has a Gun; and the new La Playa by Carner Barcelona. Latin Lover, also by Carner, works very well for summer, although it differs a little from those classic beach and sun cream notes.
