A niche fragrance with absolutely brutal value for money. It’s simply vanilla with a sea salt twist: sweet, refreshing, and with a hint of sage. What surprised me most is that, despite the prominent vanilla, it doesn’t bother me in the heat. It’s literally smelling of vanilla ice cream by the seaside with a breeze. If the salty note puts you off, know that it’s not very obvious; it’s there to balance things out and prevent it from being cloying. The performance on my skin is nuclear, even more than I’d like, haha. This will be my go-to for summer evenings for that informal and fun touch. As for compliments, it’s likely to please, and with such good longevity, you’ll surely be showered with them.

  • I’m a huge fan of L’Artisan and this smells like their Couleur Vanille – a vanilla with a salty twist. However, to be honest, it feels more synthetic and gaudy than the Artisan, which boasts a delicious absolute vanilla with dark woody, liquorice notes and a three-dimensional depth. Here, I detect synthetic vanillin and a less structured scent, akin to a room freshener. Basically, there’s a third option at Sephora, ‘Eau Sucrée Salé’, sharing the same concept but with cheaper ingredients. My advice: if you want ultra-refined salty vanilla (the best on the market), go for Couleur Vanille; if your budget is tight, choose the Sephora one. This sits right in the middle and is a bit grey – neither white nor black. By the way, all three lean feminine; they are exquisite but can become tiring.
