Vanilla Vibes by Juliette Has A Gun

It happens to me just like it does for others: the salt note stands out far more than the rest. If you’re looking for the scent of salt left on the skin after a day at the beach with sunscreen, this delivers exactly that. As a daily fragrance, it doesn’t convince me, but it does evoke those seaside memories I love and miss so much. On my skin, it lasts 6-8 hours. Thanks to @Taurien.

I tried Vanilla Vibes for that mix of vanilla with marine notes, but it hasn’t convinced me. It smells strongly of sunscreen and brine, a very summery aroma that recalls the beach. The problem is that on my dry skin it feels rough and strange, as if the salty note swallows everything and leaves an odd scent; I also feel it lacks sweetness to balance it. Although it brings back nice childhood memories of the beach, it’s not a fragrance I’d like to wear. I recommend trying it first because it depends greatly on how it reacts on the skin.

It’s an intriguing fragrance. I felt a rejection at first, but I gave it time and throughout the day I began to find different aromas: a soft, distinct vanilla, and the salty notes are like wet sand. It’s not tropical, not beachy. It’s very different. I still don’t fully understand it, but I didn’t want to leave without sharing my first impressions. JHAG is definitely not a house like the others.

At first I thought it would be a disappointment because I felt it didn’t last at all, and before leaving I’d apply another perfume that overshadowed it. One day I arrived late and didn’t apply anything else; that’s when I understood its essence, how it is and how it works. The scent comes and goes, enveloping you in an aura that’s perceived at times, in waves, as if a fragrant breeze suddenly surrounded you. In contrast, others perceive it in a more intense and continuous way. Apparently, this is a generalised trait in fragrances from this brand. I’ve received many compliments with this scent. Even a stranger stopped me in the street, impressed, to tell me how good I smelled. That never happened to me, even though I usually wear powerful winter perfumes with good sillage. Vanilla Vibes is very natural, with a fresh, fine vanilla, nothing cloying. As they say below, it reminds me of an ice cream. It evokes the wellbeing you feel after a swim in the sea. I don’t associate it with sunscreen or tanning lotion because mine don’t have a scent. It seems like a perfume that doesn’t want to be one. It simply aims to float near you without merging with your skin. It doesn’t remind me of Olympéa; instead, I see it similar to Gucci’s Flora Gorgeous Orchid. I have both, but I prefer Vanilla Vibes because it’s much more complex and the vanilla predominates more. Ideal for spring and summer. I reapply throughout the morning and it still accompanies me by night.

I don’t know what to think about this fragrance; I tried it today at Sephora and expected a bit more… it’s too aquatic for my nose. I don’t know why they compare it with Beach Walk and Alien Goddess; I have both, and while I’m not a fan of the M. Margiela one, it lacks the soul that Vanilla Vibes has. Yes, you can feel that salt note, but it’s so artificial and poorly crafted, with such cheap and fleeting vanilla, that to my olfactory sense it leaves only a salty water aroma. If you’re looking for a beautiful salty vanilla, go definitely for Idôle Aura; that fragrance precisely captures sea salt 🧂 and the fluffiest vanilla imaginable for summer, it’s beach roses with everything including sunglasses that you’ll love. I’ll try it again in the heat to see how it performs on my skin.

The opening smells like greasy vanilla, like old popcorn, but then it evolves into something subtle and fresh, ideal for the beach. Is it worth the price, or is it for people who expect more from a niche brand? NO.

I am updating my opinion after a year with this perfume. I used it little and let it rest for over 10 months. Yesterday I used it and it was a great experience, better than when first bought. It is a salt perfume; it smells like salt. From a distance and in the dry down, there is a hint of vanilla; when you wear it, you relive those moments at the end of a day at the beach. It smells like sea salt. A touch of cleanliness and freshness, but mostly salt. Very nice, although not very long-lasting.

Excessively subtle fragrance for what one would expect. Pleasant summer scent, highlighting the salt notes and a soft, creamy vanilla with clean and musky nuances. Compared to other perfumes of this style, it falls below the majority in terms of quality, price, longevity, and aroma; in this style, it is surpassed by Sel_Vainille from Maison Tahité, which is denser and more enveloping.

I highlight the singularity of Vanilla Vibes and Holidays by Mancera compared to the rest of perfumes with a similar theme. While they share an DNA with some differences, it can be stated that VV and Holidays are quite unique and similar. The difference lies in the inclusion of tiare and ylang-ylang in Holidays, elements that make it even more intense and intoxicating. In fact, its fragrance can become so overwhelming that I had to give it away due to the nausea it caused me. Vanilla Vibes presents itself as a softer and more delicate version of Holidays. In my opinion, it could be suitable for daily use with little risk of olfactory fatigue.

Heavy, dense, and long-lasting perfume. Undoubtedly there is vanilla (a lot of it) giving body and creaminess to the fragrance. It ends up being quite monotonous and a bit cloying. I do not recommend buying it blind, nor even to the purest lovers of vanilla/cream sunscreens/air fresheners; as the scent becomes coarse and can result in being tedious.

I loved this perfume! It has incredible longevity, lasting 8 hours on my skin and even longer on clothes. I was surprised it held up outdoors in extreme heat without becoming overwhelming or cloying. It’s totally unisex; it smells divine on my husband, and his trail is even greater. Although the notes don’t mention coconut, it’s exactly what stands out most: a creamy coconut, slightly vanilla, with salty touches.

It disappears on me after 2 hours and smells very subtly of sunscreen. I was brutally disappointed with this purchase.

Finally, I found my summer perfume. I don’t like citrus (with few exceptions) and have always struggled with summer fragrances that are comfortable enough for daily wear. As I adore vanilla, I had few options for a wearable vanilla in the heat. Finally, I found it! It has great chemistry with my skin. The sensation is like taking a good shower in the middle of summer and applying a top-quality sunscreen that smells rich, sexy, and clean. You feel clean and well. Everyone compliments it; it’s the one that has generated the most praise. In extreme heat, it lasts about 4 hours, but in spring, without reaching 30°, it lasts longer. The trail is moderate. Tip: when I heard it in winter, I didn’t like it; I found it strange. Its magic starts from 20°.

I decided to buy a JHAG discovery set due to the positive comments on vanilla vibes, and honestly, it’s one of the ones I liked the least. It’s not an unpleasant smell, but it smells like sunscreen, so I see it as dispensable.

I absolutely love perfumes with salt, and this is no exception. The notes are simple, vanilla and salt. On my dry skin, it smells like sunscreen at the beach, perhaps reminding me of coconut even though it’s not on the notes.
