I’ve just received two samples of the new Kurkdjian works, Fluidity Gold and Silver. In the case of Gold, what stands out most is the vanilla and amber; at first, I like it, it has a certain resemblance in some nuances to Oud Satin Mood and Grand Soir due to the vanilla, but this one is more vanilly. The truth is, it smells very rich. There’s still time to see projection and longevity, but at first, it’s a perfume that promises a lot, and it’s very different from the Silver version despite having the same notes.
I’ve just tried the Gold and Silver samples from Kurkdjian. In the Gold, what stands out most is the vanilla and amber; at first, I like it, it reminds me of Oud Satin Mood and Grand Soir because of that vanilla, but this one is more vanilly. It smells very rich. There’s still time to see how it behaves over time, but it promises a lot and is very different from the Silver version, even though they share the same notes.
It’s one of those where you know after the first spray it’s by Kurkdjian: it wraps you in a safe, rounded, and thick space without being invasive, like Baccarat Rouge 540 or Oud Satin Mood. In my opinion, it’s more unisex than Oud Satin Mood, or rather, ethereal like them. It smells of class, of a Russian waltz. Very ambered and vanilly, with an intense musk; the rest are nuances that don’t define it. Here, the three main notes stand out, unlike in Baccarat where they form an inseparable symphony. The quality is immense, projecting 1.5/2 metres for 3h30 and lasting over 12 hours. If it’s your style, for the price, it’s an excellent purchase. Longevity: 9, Projection: 8.5, Scent: 7.5, Price: 150€ (70ml), Unique: 7, Emotional: No
Another trendy niche piece. It reminds me of several Mancera fragrances without naming them. It’s a quality vanilla with very prominent musk and amber that put me off a little. It doesn’t evolve, but I feel every note, and I love how the juniper smells. I feel a strong resemblance to Miss Dior Le Parfum, and frankly, I don’t see it having more quality than hers, which is stunning, though perhaps it lacks sillage, something that is guaranteed here (though not exaggerated). In short, Gentle Fluidity bores me a bit; it smells very well and has decent quality, but I wouldn’t buy it. If you know you like resinous scents with heavy musk, you can buy it blind. Scent: 8, Quality: 9, Longevity: 10, Originality: 6, Versatility: 10 (in winter). Would I buy it? I’ll stick with Dior Le Parfum. Bear in mind that I’m not saying it replaces the other. Completely unisex.
Another piece of the trendy niche. It reminds me of several Mancera fragrances without naming them… 🤔🤔 A top-quality vanilla with very prominent musk and amber that put me off a little. Although it doesn’t evolve, I detect every note in the list, and I love the juniper here; it’s very cool. I feel a strong resemblance to Miss Dior Le Parfum, and frankly, I don’t see it having more quality than hers; Le Parfum is stunning, elegant, though perhaps it lacks a bit of sillage, which is present here (though not exaggerated). In short, Gentle Fluidity bores me a bit; it’s already been worn (which isn’t bad) and I wouldn’t buy it, but it smells very well with decent quality. It’s an amber-vanilla perfume worth considering. If I were to recommend it: buy blind if you like resinous scents with a heavy musk charge. Scent: 8 Quality: 9 Longevity: 10 Originality: 6 Versatility: 10 (in winter). Would I buy it? I’ll stick with Dior Le Parfum. Bear in mind that having one doesn’t replace the other. Completely unisex.
I tested the Silver and Gold samples of Gentle Fluidity, and this Gold has pleased me much more. As others say, it reminds me of some Mancera and Montales, like Intense Café or Roses Vanilla. It’s not an original or different aroma, but it is pleasant and interesting. I prefer other MFK perfumes, though I find it curious to see how two perfumes with the same notes can be so different: this one is sweet and intense with a delicious vanilla, whereas Silver is much fresher. Performance is good, though lower than in other perfumes from the house, and projection is quite scarce.
The Silver and Gold samples of Gentle Fluidity have arrived, and without a doubt, Gold is the winner. It smells of things I already know from Mancera or Montales, like Intense Café or Roses Vanilla. It’s not a revolutionary scent, but it is very pleasant and interesting. Honestly, I prefer other MFK perfumes, though I love seeing how two fragrances with the same notes can be so different: this one is sweet and intense with a delicious vanilla, whereas Silver is much fresher. Performance is good, though it doesn’t reach the level of others from the house, and projection is fairly contained. Scent: 8 Longevity: 8 Projection: 6 Value for money: 5 Versatility: 6 Originality: 5 Overall: 8
I saved only to enjoy a good time of vanilla. I wish I didn’t like Maison Kurkdjian’s creations so much; it is worse than loving expensive shoes. On my skin it is extremely similar to Givenchy’s Pi and the difference between the paper and my skin is huge. I adore the opening notes; although it is linear, it is only when I smell the juniper that I fall in love. Then it is always Givenchy’s Pi on my skin. I don’t understand why I feel so much Haba Tonka. This scent brings me close to a good fire alongside sweet delights. It is cosy. For me it is less elegant than BR540, perhaps less feminine, but close and addictive. An elegant, sumptuous, and extremely long-lasting vanilla on my skin. A safe member of the Vanilla Olympus.
I saved up just to enjoy some good vanilly weather. I wish I didn’t like Kurkdjian creations so much; truly, it’s worse than loving expensive shoes. On my skin, it’s extremely similar to Pi by Givenchy, and the difference between the sample paper and my skin is enormous. I adore the opening notes, and although it’s very linear, it’s only when I feel the juniper that I fall in love. Afterwards, it’s always Pi by Givenchy on my skin. I don’t understand why I feel so much tonka bean. This scent is capable of bringing me close to a good fire alongside sweet delights. It’s cosy. For me, less elegant than BR540, perhaps less feminine, but close and addictive. An elegant, sumptuous, and extremely long-lasting vanilla, at least on my skin. A confident member of the Vanilla Olympus.
It smells lovely, elegant, and not gourmand; it’s warm, cosy, and with lots of musk and amber. I loved it so much I thought about buying it, but its performance disappointed me. It lasted 7 hours on skin, but after the first hour, if I didn’t press my nose against it, I couldn’t smell it. If there’s no sillage, having it there doesn’t serve any purpose. It’s a pity because the scent is refined and I like it, but on me, it leaves no trace to enjoy.
It is a very beautiful, elegant, and non-gourmand (for me) vanilla scent; it is warm and cosy, with lots of musk and amber. The scent captivated me and I seriously thought it would be my first purchase from the house… until I saw its performance. It lasted 7 hours on skin, but from the second hour onwards, if I didn’t bury my nose, I couldn’t smell it. So it was of no use that it remained there without a trail. It is a pity because the scent is fine, elegant, and warm, but ON ME it has no trail to enjoy.
My goodness, what a beauty. It smells of honey, lots of honey, of enchanting dust, and of a loving sweetness that elevates by magic. The vanilla, which I love to madness, is an exquisite protagonist in a wonderful harmony with the other notes. An elegant and very sensual musk. And the best of all is that it was a gift.
I like it, although it gives me a headache… it smells exactly like the clear lip gloss from Estée Lauder, I swear. It brings back good memories, but it is not worth the price. I don’t smell much vanilla; it is super powdery. You can feel the amber, the wood, the berries, and the coriander. I recommend trying it and waiting for it to dry down before buying.
Love at first sniff. This is pure luxury. As everyone says, it has that characteristic Montale smell, but thank God it is not so overwhelming. It is delicate, of vanilla and amber. I fell in love and decided to buy the bottle. Rare is the perfume I don’t like from Maison Francis Kurkdjian; he has an incredible nose and his work is impeccable, he is my favourite perfumer. It smells of quality and elegance, opulent but soft, without drawing too much attention. It reminds me slightly of Oud Satin Mood, although this is more potent; they seem close relatives with distinct personalities. The difference between Gold and Silver is that Gold is warmer and nocturnal, while Silver is fresh and diurnal; despite having the same notes, they are totally different, which is wonderful and magical. Try it and enjoy.
Something surreal happened to me: I ordered Delox by Tiziana Terenzi and Gentle Fluidity without knowing they were similar. They were blind buys; I hate TT because it is a copy of Montale’s Intense Cafe, overwhelming and heavy. MFK, wow! What beauty, subtlety, and elegance. It is like the two previous ones but with finesse, without being heavy. Pure elegance: subtle vanilla with amber and musk, without becoming dense, with woody notes that add nuance. In short words, perfection in perfume.
Unlike the others, I’m not going to speak so highly of this perfume. The opening didn’t suit me; it’s very potent and sour; I don’t know how to explain it. After a while, it sweetened up until becoming a woody, caramelised vanilla. I see it as super formal and elegant, with great class, but the caramel overwhelms me a little. I’m still thinking about when to use it, I suppose in winter, perhaps autumn, and for special events. I don’t see it for everyday wear. Maybe I’ll change my mind, but I’ll update that I can’t stand the caramel and it’s not for me. I’ll give it away.
I come to speak no highly of this perfume. The opening didn’t suit me: it is very potent and sour, difficult to explain. After a while, it sweetened until it became woody vanilla and caramel. I see it as super formal, elegant, and classy, but the caramel overwhelms me a little. I still ponder what occasions to use it for, perhaps winter or autumn for special events, not for daily wear. Maybe I’ll change my mind, but for now, I update that I can’t stand the caramel and will be giving it away.
In my opinion, it has too much character and is very feminine, yet there are facets that don’t fit a woman. It comes out potent and sharp until it settles into a sweet scent, with a vanilla and caramel base. I find it very mature and tiring. Nothing.
Beyond that distinct character, which I feel is overly feminine, there are notes and facets in the composition that simply don’t suit a woman. It comes across as very potent and sharp, before settling into a cloying scent with a background of vanilla and caramel. I find it far too mature and wearying. Nothing.
A luxurious and aristocratic scent that doesn’t shout or overwhelm, nor is it dense. It smells like a calm and confident lady, impeccable in appearance and essence, with manners and elegance upon presentation. It features a dry, expensive, and noble vanilla with a touch of musk. Very beautiful, balanced, with a soft caramel nuance. It is one of my favourites; the longevity and trail are excellent.
I’ve had this perfume for three years now. Although I used it sparingly and hesitated to keep it when I found it in a lot (one half-bottle and one full), greed got the better of me: ‘if they’ve come out, it’s a bonus’, even if I didn’t like them much at first. Now I regret my initial thoughts: I simply adore it! I don’t want to run through the bottle. It’s beautiful, aromatic, and elegant, very different and simply exquisite. What a relief I decided to keep them.
