Descripción
Gucci Pour Homme II by Gucci is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2007, this olfactive composition was created by perfumer Karine Dubreuil-Sereni. Its top notes of violet leaf and bergamot give way to a heart of black tea, cinnamon, and Jamaican pepper, while the base rests on tobacco leaf, myrrh, musk, and olive.

This fragrance takes me back to my childhood walks through the tobacco factory. It doesn’t smell of burnt smoke, but rather fresh leaf, with that typical and delicious scent. It’s not very potent, but applying a bit more is more than enough. It’s one of the few fragrances that have prompted strangers to ask for my opinion. I recommend it heartily.

This perfume marks the exit of Tom Ford from Gucci and the entry of Frida Giannini, when the brand went down the drain again. It rescues what Ford built before Frida insisted on undoing it, turning the brand into something for ‘posh girls’ instead of exclusive. It took an elegant Gucci and made it modern, but without its own style. One must see the abuse of gold in recent women’s perfumes to realise that not everything that shines is gold. Gucci II is well made but forgettable: without strength or character, more like a body spray.
With Gucci perfumes that happens, Pabloso: they are generic and forgettable; the only notable one is Gucci Rush, which is really ordinary and gives a horrible headache.
I felt a strong opening with black tea and a hint of violet, but no bergamot or black pepper. Then it evolves into woody notes (I suppose the olive), myrrh, and tobacco flower. The black tea impression reminded me of smoky types like lapsang souchong. I found it elegant and original, as I had little contact with tea fragrances, neither green nor black. The longevity is as Pharaoh said: it resolves itself by applying more product. On me, with an over-application, it lasted 7 hours clinging to the skin, with that tea, woods, myrrh, and tobacco. The trail is soft and moderate. It is more for intermediate seasons, neither too cold nor too hot.

When I bought it I thought I would be eaten alive on the street 😅 because it is Gucci, but unfortunately it was not so. The scent is very good but projects nothing; it lasts long on the skin, surpassing the average, but falls short for others. However, it is a delicious aroma. At first I feel violet leaves, then black tea and cinnamon; the tea is the soul, interwoven with myrrh and tobacco. I suppose the olive gives that strange touch and the musk adds a bit of talc, but only a little. I love it despite the lack of projection; as an intimate perfume it is perfect.
The black tea and pepper are noticeable. Elegant, for winter or autumn, or spring evenings/nights. After 3.5 hours it is still perceptible, although fainter. Recommended. I bought it 8 years ago and it is still very good.
Undoubtedly, the best designer fragrance containing black tea notes to date. Almost all notes are noticeable: the first hour clearly smells of tobacco, black tea, and myrrh, with a touch of violet leaves. The base reaches 3 or 4 hours, unfortunately not lasting long, which is its only problem. Musk and olive are felt in the background, although they vary according to each person’s pH; cinnamon is more noticeable towards the end. I did not perceive pepper or bergamot, but something sweet that gives a rich, cosy, and masculine touch, perhaps it is the cinnamon. Lasts about 7 hours on the skin. Ideal for casual use or dates. Light and harmless but unique. The best of Gucci after GPH I, recommended for temperate or semi-warm climates. Trail: 5/10, Projection: 5/10, Longevity: 7/10, Scent: 10/10, Versatility: 9/10, Quality: 9/10. Total: 9.5/10.
Every time I see ‘Pour Homme II’ I feel anger, because I remember how they took away my favourite perfume, the original launch version. I don’t know what went through their minds removing ENVY and Pour Homme… and the rest of nothing. It is worth rescuing.
I bought it despite the negative reviews; I was at Las Villas perfumery in Valencia looking for L’Homme by Yves, but this fragrance captivated me from the start. It is one of my favourites; I use it almost every day for work. Super soft, moderate trail, and good longevity: I arrive at 7:30 am and at 5 pm it still smells without having to press my nose against my arm. My favourite alongside Nuit de L’Homme. Highly recommended, pleasant and non-abusive scent. Excellent pepper and tea. 10/10.
I resisted trying it for two years due to prejudice, what a mistake! The seal of elegance and legacy from Tom Ford is evident here, reflecting everything Gucci achieved before its new direction. A fragrance that leaves no room for doubt and confirms what others thought without prejudice. Gucci Pour Homme II, excellent.
A subtle and original fragrance with a black tea and cinnamon scent reminiscent of San Francisco Noir. Sweet and sensual, ideal for intermediate seasons; it fades in extreme cold or heat. The projection is very faint, but it lasts about 8 hours on the skin. Perfect for the office or class: discreet, comfortable, and with such an original scent that everyone will like it if they get close enough to smell it.
A fragrance that hypnotises, very original in its scent, subtle, fragile. I could say that if you want to make a good impression of a person of secure and calm character, this is your perfume, since its black tea note reinforces the message of elegance and sobriety you want to convey.
First of all: I hope it’s a joke that it’s similar to Dior Fahrenheit, they are two opposite paths. The fragrance is pleasant, nothing offensive, unique and even unisex; I won’t delve much into describing it since its poor performance didn’t allow me to appreciate it to the hundred per cent. It is definitive for those who like very discreet fragrances and who are attracted to wearing more than one different fragrance on the same day. It lasted no more than an hour on my skin with projection only for the first 20 minutes. Jorge Elizalde, Veracruz Mexico.
I understand the dislike for this perfume, whether due to historical reasons or performance, since its projection is very low. Perhaps it’s a contradiction on my part? Maybe I like potent perfumes, and even the tobacco note kills me… But what makes me like it is its originality, its excellent balance between all the notes, plus leaving a kind of tidy and classy ‘aura’. Sillage is moderate-low for 2 hours, then skin-only. Duration of approx. 7 hours. It makes it excellent for an intimate date or in environments where subtlety is required (like a clinical setting, for example). Perhaps prejudices need to be set aside and time taken to try it.
Incredible perfume, I didn’t expect it to be so pleasant. Undoubtedly good quality in its components. An incredible black tea opening perfectly combined with cinnamon, followed by a pleasant mix of violet leaves and bell pepper; I felt the tobacco leaves a bit sweet. I love it, I feel like autumn in a bottle. Apart from that, the bottle is incredible. Short longevity but worth it, solved with over-application.
Gucci Pour Homme II has been the most elegant fragrance I’ve ever owned. The opening featured a bright violet (I’d bet there was a flower alongside the leaves). I’d swear there was some lavender accompanying a sharp yet non-pungent citrus. Nothing aggressive. It was a fresh caress, a frank and smiling greeting from someone delighted to see you, without any fuss. After the handshake came a warm, fraternal embrace from a brother who, after a long time apart, wraps you in his strong arms without squeezing, moved but restrained, a mix of melancholy and silent joy. A velvety tea with a sweet, amber base and the dry, raw note of tobacco wraps around you, without a huge trail, but conveying peace. A spicy accord adds modernity: similar to a soft pepper, but it must be the chilli; I don’t recall the aroma, but I do remember the sensation. There are woods (the website suggests olive) and a bed of musk that avoids being powdery (nothing of lacquer), a velvet softness, like your family’s cheek brushing your neck, gradually pulling away to look you in the eye and hold your hands in silence, gently conveying all their love. The thick glass bottle was extremely heavy, and the golden wooden cap was almost as large as the glass itself. A design jewel, as elegant as its contents. Some argue that its predecessor, Gucci Pour Homme, was the last great perfume of the brand’s golden era. Others include this latest launch. What’s clear is that Pour Homme II fits in with nothing and has nothing to do with what Gucci sells today, pretending to be perfumes.

What can I say about this gem? It has a unique smell, with few notes, it’s very long-lasting and quite refreshing. A sweet cinnamon combined with tea and pepper, magic happens! Gucci Pour Homme II is more than a perfume; it smells and feels clean, something I can’t help but say: it’s nothing youthful, rather for 28 years and up, it suits well, it’s pleasant, sensual, cheerful and sexy. What else can I tell you?
I’m a bit surprised. After trying it several times, I confirm that with this fragrance I get much greater longevity than with others that claim to be ‘long-lasting’ on Fragrantica. The scent is excellent, 100% the antonym of grotesque, refined, super masculine, fresh with tobacco and a hint of spice. It gives the impression of being a fragrance you’re unlikely to get bored of. 10 points.
A blind buy… the luckiest one I’ve ever made! Beautiful scent and bottle, elegant, versatile, and long-lasting. The projection is just right, but that discretion is part of its elegance. Every time I wear it, I discover new nuances; the first time it seemed linear, but it evolves subtly without being harsh. The smell is charming, discreet, and suggestive. Very well made. In a word: special. It can still be found here and there at a reasonable price.

What am I missing out on? I’ve always asked myself this when talking about this fragrance, doubting whether to buy it. Everyone speaks wonders of its elegance and subtlety. Moreover, they say it smells like black tea; how does that translate in a perfume? As it was discontinued and I couldn’t try it, and despite not being a fan of blind buys, I decided to go for it. Curiosity won out and I succumbed. I had my expectations through the roof. I must admit it disappointed me a little at first; I heard nothing, just a strange mix of spicy notes I didn’t like, reminding me of the opening of Spicebomb. Was this Gucci Pour Homme II? Where was the tea, the cinnamon, the elegance? I’d had a stressful day and thought I wasn’t in the right state of mind. I wanted to like it, but that wasn’t the time. Since then, I’ve worn it a couple more times more calmly and now I finally understand it. It’s very relaxing, far from stress. For me, it’s sophisticated, elegant, perhaps mature. Now I can smell the tea, the cinnamon and the spices; I confess it’s one of the most natural scents I’ve tried. It doesn’t smell synthetic or cloying, it’s very natural. Perhaps that naturalness was what didn’t please me at first, used to synthetic fragrances, I thought: this doesn’t smell like cologne. In short, I’m starting to understand it and although I like it a lot, I don’t value it yet; I will in the future when I’ve tested it more. For now, I know there’s still much to discover. The bottle is a delight.
I absolutely love it. It opens with violet and a citrus touch, giving way to a lovely black tea with cinnamon, resting on a smoky tobacco base with myrrh resin notes. It’s a spiced fragrance, slightly sweet, very pleasant and sure to be a hit with everyone. I see it as super versatile. Performance is average. Ideal for spring, summer and autumn, for both day and night. Longevity and sillage are moderate.
First impression: I’d been longing to try this fragrance for some time; its elegant bottle caught my eye and being from the Gucci house interested me more. I wanted to own it, but there was no way to try it before buying blind. The high price also didn’t make it very accessible. I visited a perfume shop where I now work; they had it and also a ‘tester’. I tried it a couple of times but it didn’t convince me; I think the tester was very old and the fragrance had lost its essence. Recently one of the two remaining bottles was sold and I decided to set aside the last one. Yesterday my colleagues gifted it to me. Today I’ve tried it a bit and it’s a fragrance with a somewhat unusual composition. To me, it smells of grass and earth. What I do see is that it’s not an aggressive or invasive fragrance that impacts your sense of smell to the point of being unpleasant. I think in its dry down you can already feel that black tea and spices; to be an Eau de Toilette, it clings to the skin leaving a resinous shine, which I understand must be myrrh, and I sense it well in the background, giving balance and life to the fragrance. Overall, I like it. I’ll share more impressions after several uses in the coming days.
I just bought this perfume in a local chemist, incredulous I rushed to get it at a bargain price. It’s spectacular what it conveys, a sense of freshness and elegance with quite marked touches of cinnamon and black tea, without doubt a proper gem. What a pity it’s so hard to find; I’d buy three more bottles. Impressive.
Gucci Pour Homme II: Undoubtedly a jewel of the house, unfortunately no longer available. It is a classic, classy Italian fresh scent, aiming not for relaxation or peace, but for a refined and majestic air. It belongs to the brand’s last great creations. I don’t understand how they pulled two of their masterpieces, the I and the II, from the market. If you catch it, it will surely be expensive, and the price doesn’t justify the purchase; I believe a fair price would be around £100, although I’ve seen it between £200 and £400, which is a brutal rip-off. Scent: 9.0. Projection: 2 hours. Longevity: 6 hours. Recommended.
GUCCI POUR HOMME II: Definitely one of this house’s gems that well deserves to exist, sadly discontinued. A classic Italian aroma, a classy freshness that doesn’t relax or bring peace; on the contrary, it’s a refined and magnificent freshness. A layer of the house’s last great creations. I can’t explain how they took two of their masterpieces off the market, Gucci Pour Homme I and II. If you find it, it’s probably at very high prices that don’t justify the purchase; I think a fair price should be a maximum of $100, although I’ve seen it between $200 and $400, which is a beastly rip-off. Scent: 9.0. Projection: 2 hours. Longevity: 6 hours. Recommended.
I bought it completely blind, knowing nothing about it. I saw it in a perfume shop, checked the notes and picked it up. I have absolutely no regrets; it’s a proper perfumey, super versatile and a scent everyone loves. To my surprise, it’s been discontinued, but if you find it, go for it without a second thought.
I’d been looking for this for ages and couldn’t find it. Eventually I ordered a 10ml decant from Decanty.com and bloody hell… they had it! Italian elegance at its finest. It’s a modern, elegant fragrance blending fresh and spicy notes with a woody base. The citrus and spicy opening of bergamot and violet leaves captivates from the very first moment. In the heart, black tea, cinnamon and cedar add depth and sophistication. Ideal for men seeking a refined and versatile scent. Gucci Pour Homme II leaves a seductive, long-lasting trail that doesn’t go unnoticed.
Reminds me of Azzaro Visiter, but without the pepper dominating and with a woody base. Excellent fragrance.
One of my favourites, with tea.
The best perfume in the history of perfumery. UNIQUE.
I tried it at Sephora in 2008 and was instantly smitten. I’ve been wearing it since then and it never ceases to surprise me.
One of the best perfumes in history! I don’t understand why they’re being discontinued… at least Fomo released a decent dupe.
