Intense Oud by Gucci is an oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2016, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Aurélien Guichard. The top notes reveal incense, raspberry, saffron and pear; the heart unfolds damask rose, musk and orange blossom; while the base notes settle on oud wood, leather, patchouli and ambergris.

  • An exceptional perfume, woody and resinous as I like it, potent, smoky and balsamic. I love it. At first, there is a strong charge of warm, resinous frankincense wood; it makes a strong presentation but disappears quickly to reveal a background oud, shy and mysterious, something sweet yet balsamic, with an elegant spicy counterpoint. At the start, the incense accompanies the oud in a smoky way and gradually becomes very resinous, a little liturgical but without exaggeration. Alongside the amber that appears at the same time, they create a creamy scent, very woody with warmth and sublime sweetness. Then, the scent settles on a background of fine, elegant leather that emerges subtly while the amber decays, creating the final piece: a frankincense oud on leather. Spectacular. As one might expect, it is superb in longevity and projection. Tested, it lasts 12 hours on skin, intense; then I went to sleep and didn’t know how far it went, but by morning after showering, it seemed to reactivate for an instant, though it was no longer noticeable. The projection is strong and noticeable for at least 4 hours, then fades but remains moderate until the end. Intense, for cold climates and night. High cost but not disproportionate like other luxury items; if you can afford it, go ahead, it is a pleasure. On the official Gucci website they list: Top Pear, Raspberry and Saffron; Heart Rose and Orange Blossom; Base Oud and Patchouli. I don’t smell any of that at all, I think the Fragrantica notes are the correct ones.

What a great review Darkbeat has written! I say that myself. I lean more towards the Gucci notes, though I suspect they guard their industrial secrets well. It is my personal and favourite fragrance; I have the luck of owning three bottles of this masterpiece. A star among stars! A beautiful, almost celestial juice. I bought it when it first launched for under $100 on Notino, while it was still available in the US. Now the price has risen significantly or it is out of stock. To my taste, it is the best designer perfume that beats any niche.

I don’t know what’s got into me, but I feel this fragrance is going to make its way into my collection the moment I try it. It has everything written all over it, even though I haven’t heard it yet. Just look at the perfumes I have right now; those who wear or have tried it would fit perfectly on my shelves. I’ve been on the verge of buying several Gucci perfumes before, and while I haven’t heard this one, I believe it aligns very closely with what I’ve read and seen in YouTube reviews and forum discussions regarding my current tastes (Bentley for Men Intense, The One by D&G, Pour Homme Intense by Dior…). I think it’s similar to those, perhaps a touch sweeter, and maybe akin to my limited edition Hugo Boss The Scent Perfume… that’s the idea I have. I think I’ll fall in love when I try it… high expectations… might be a letdown, but I don’t think so… I’ll tell you all… it’s on my wishlist

To be honest, I feel this fragrance isn’t given enough credit in the reviews because it’s simply spectacular. My only slight reservation is the longevity, which is just a touch short on my skin during summer, though it’s not bad; in winter, it lasts much longer, easily holding up for 8-10 hours. What a delicate and exquisite scent. Gucci has nailed it. Although I’ve started exploring the world of OUD, this isn’t an OUD discovery fragrance, but rather a showcase for its leather, incense, and the subtle contribution of the OUD. A 10/10 for my first Gucci fragrance in my collection.

When Correos Express decides to… jooo, I’ve taken this and the Tom Ford Noir in 50ml blind. I’ve been waiting all morning, more nervous than the Pucela match in Seville yesterday, hahaha. In the end, I’m going to be absolutely hooked on this perfume world; I’ll tell you all once they arrive. I have huge expectations for both, especially after the fortune I’ve spent on them. By the way, my CH Kings by Carolina Herrera finally died today; it’s heading straight to the hall of fame of empty bottles 😏🥳

  • Just tried it blind and I’ve already taken the 90ml. A couple of rubs on my hands to catch the scent after yesterday’s Tom Ford bomb, and honestly, it’s a delight. Gucci Oud Intense has the softest leather opening I’ve ever loved. The leather lingers but then lets the very subtle incense shine through; it’s charming. Like with the Tom Ford Noir yesterday, this is just my first impression upon opening, but I like it and have no regrets about the purchase 💪🏻🤗

  • As for me, like almost all of this brand’s fragrances, I find this one rather weak. It’s a flat scent, lacking any spark or interest, and worst of all, I can’t even say it smells nice. It’s that typical plasticky smell trying to emulate oud wood but lacking the nuances and twists to make it engaging. It’s excessively dark and linear, with dry, dark notes like oud, incense and leather, giving off a rather low-quality vibe. The performance isn’t anything special: moderate longevity (depends on how many times you apply it and whether you put it on clothes, as it lasts longer there), with a rather weak sillage. If you enjoy this type of flat, dry scent, you might like it, but there are far more interesting deals available, such as CdG Wonderoud (which isn’t my favourite either) and fragrances of very similar quality at a fraction of the price, like Zara’s Exclusive Oud. Without even going to brands that truly know how to craft oriental notes, such as Amouage, though admittedly at disproportionate prices.

  • Well, in my opinion, like almost all fragrances from this brand, this one feels rather weak. It’s a flat scent, lacking any spark, dull, and worst of all, I can’t even say it smells good. It has that typical plasticky smell trying to represent oud wood, but it lacks nuances and twists to make it interesting. It’s excessively dark and linear, featuring only dry, dark notes like the oud wood, frankincense, and leather. All of this with a perceived quality that’s quite low. The performance isn’t anything special. Longevity is moderate (it depends on how much you apply and whether you wear it on clothes, as it lasts longer there), with a moderate trail. If you enjoy this type of very flat and dry scent, you might like it, but there are much more interesting deals available, such as CdG Wonderoud (which isn’t exactly my favourite either) and fragrances of similar quality at a fifth of the price, like Zara’s Exclusive Oud. Without going into brands that truly know how to craft oriental notes like Amouage, although their prices are disproportionately high.

Drakecito, I bought it blindly a month and a half ago and I hold the opposite opinion to what you say, but well, that’s why there’s such a wide range of perfumes to choose what one likes. I loved it and I’ll surely repeat it some day… totally happy with its performance in longevity and projection. What I like most is the delicacy it projects when you smell it; it seems like such a fragile object that it could break at any moment. I discovered what aoud was in this fragrance, although it’s barely noticeable at the start… it’s the only Gucci perfume I’ve used, and the only thing I’d ask is for the 90ml bottle to go up to 100 or 120ml… In terms of price, it cost me close to €80 without quite reaching that. I give it a high mark for this fragrance’s refinement.

  • Of course, Jorge. The truth is, I don’t get along with these westernised ouds, nor with ouds in general. Not even with the legendary Black Aoud by Montale, which has a legion of fans. Nor with the legendary M7 by YSL. What can you do… P.S.: Mine was also a blind purchase.

  • Don Benjuí

The opening is pure incense. I add that afterwards the rose is clearly perceived, a deep, dark rose that gives it a slight powdery touch. I love the perfume; it lasts an eternity on skin; after 12 hours and a shower it is still noticeable close to the skin. It feels like great quality, niche quality. Longevity 9.5, Projection 9.0, Value for money 9.0, Scent 9.0.

Exceptional designer perfume bordering on niche. I don’t own it, but as soon as the situation normalises, I’ll buy it since I tested it a week before the lockdown and became hooked on the scent and the longevity.

An exceptional designer fragrance that brushes up against niche status. I don’t own it, but as soon as things normalise, I’ll be buying it. I tested it a week before lockdown and was instantly hooked by the scent and longevity.

My first impression is to recognise Gucci’s good work with the Oud. Unlike other fragrances where the Oud is heavy, here it is balanced and softened by the incense and frankincense, giving a dark, smoky, sweet, elegant, versatile, very western and easy-to-wear result. It has a dark soul to shine at night, preferably in open spaces, but it is not a bad option for a fresh or rainy day either. It has an acceptable trail, I have not yet checked the longevity. Very happy with the purchase.

I’m glad I’ve finally found a Gucci proposal with noticeable performance; I was almost losing hope. Gucci Intense Oud is unisex and leaves a trail of lovely sensations on the skin. Its main characteristic is the skillful use of oriental notes, blended in a modern way. It evokes sensations from mysterious countries like China, but also Egypt and perfumes lost in time, intoxicating and attractive. Several elements define it: incense, cedar, and amber mix with a delicate oud, an essence that, if worked well, is irresistible and hard to forget. Oud Intense is intense, but not in the oud. Rather, it’s fresh, spicy, woody, with spices in the background that take prominence over time. It also has a slightly fruity touch, not very strong. The oud is perceptible but wonderfully soft, smoothed out by a sharp incense, patchouli, amber, and musk. It’s very restrained. At some point, I note similarities with Black Afgano; it can be seen as a tribute to Gualtieri, but it’s more reserved and docile; it’s not a twin, but a calmer type. I haven’t been interested in Gucci proposals for years, so I’m very surprised today with this Oud Intense (from the Sejano 77 collection) that accompanies me for about 7-8 hours with good presence and deep elegance, making me think about a future purchase.

  • EliteforEver

There’s nothing more to say about this beauty; it’s a true MASTERPIECE. A perfect 10 in every attribute.

  • CardaGiorgio

Gucci Intense Oud is one of those rarities, in terms of quality and concept, found in the generalist market. It’s a dark fragrance from start to finish; it opens with a wet incense and a background of oud and leather that gives a medicinal, rough sensation. Flashes of saffron and a very subtle raspberry (like Tuscan Leather) add depth. The wet incense reminds me of Incense Extrême by Tauer. Despite the references, it’s not a fragrance centred on incense. Over time, the oud and leather take centre stage alongside an incense that gives more of a sensation of dampness than the smell of incense itself. The saffron and raspberry nuances remain noticeable as it dries. The evolution isn’t huge, but it is appreciable. The performance on my skin is fantastic, lasting around ten hours with good projection for the first four. Gucci Intense Oud is dark, of very good quality, and excellent performance. Undoubtedly one of Gucci’s most interesting proposals.

  • Batch 0295 Oct 2020. To my nose, there’s no oud, frankincense, or woods at all; what I detect is a blend of cardamom, laurel, and black pepper at the start, with virtually no evolution as it dries. Given the comments here, I believe they’ve already reformulated it—it has nothing to do with what people say about it, and the longevity is laughable. I bought it at Notino on offer for €70, which is nothing like the prices on other sites. These Notino deals are starting to smell fishy to me, very fishy. Watch out for this data point.

  • A fantastic scent, far removed from the cheap gimmicks we smell nowadays. It evokes a serene, tranquil man with personality and confidence. It’s a very European-style oud, reminiscent of Tuscan Leather due to those noticeable red berries.

Darkbeat’s description is very accurate; I could add nothing. To me, it seems quite soft. Decent longevity and moderate projection; sometimes I struggle to detect it and it fatigues me a bit. However, when I entered my parents’ house, I received compliments; it smelled clean, like a freshly shaven man, like some old foam from the 80s-90s my father used. At first, I thought it was masculine due to the opening, but the dry-down I consider unisex. I expected it to be more difficult, but it is very flexible, elegant, and does not force you to wear a suit. Mysterious; I use it in any season if it is not hot. It shines more on cloudy and rainy days, perhaps due to the memory of a fireplace. It has something addictive. I recommend trying it to get started with oud or similar notes. As an incense lover, I love it, although I expected it to be more potent. I think it is discontinued as I no longer see it in Gucci and it is out of stock on Amazon.

The description of Darkbeat is spot on; I wouldn’t add a single word to the second paragraph. To me, it feels quite soft, with decent longevity and a moderate sillage. Occasionally, it fatigues a bit and is hard to pick up, but the other day, as soon as I walked into my parents’ house, they told me I smelled lovely, even though I thought it had already faded. They said it smelled clean, like a freshly shaven man. That made me think and reminded me slightly of an old shaving foam from the 80s or 90s that my father used, though I don’t know which one. After reading that it has a unisex character, I was surprised because on application it felt masculine to me, but the dry down I definitely consider unisex. I expected it to be harder to wear, but it goes; it’s very flexible and elegant without forcing you to wear a suit. It’s mysterious, and I’d wear it in any season if it’s not too hot. I feel it shines more on cloudy, rainy days, perhaps due to the smoky notes reminding me of a fireplace. There is something about it that makes it increasingly addictive. I recommend trying it, as I did, if you wish to explore oud or similar notes. As a lover of incense, there’s little more to say, I adore it, although I expected more potency. I believe it is being discontinued as I can no longer find it on the Gucci website and it is out of stock on Amazon.

  • I have not had luck with these new Badges. I bought one a few months ago and sold it to a colleague. I gave it another chance reading that it depends on the batch; some last longer. Total disappointment. Scent 10/10, longevity: 8 sprays give 4 hours on skin if they last, projecting for only 30 minutes. 3/10. New edition as of 09/07/2023, six months of maceration, and the change is abyssal. It has happened to me with few perfumes, but the evolution has been beastly. It lasts on skin for about 11 hours and projects with a bubble at 50cm for 6-7 hours. I was amazed and regret the low initial score. Thanks to the maceration. A masterpiece, but a crime against this perfume. Perhaps olfactory fatigue.

  • This is my first review and I am not an expert, but I am fascinated by perfumes. This seems to me an absolute beauty. A wearable oud for anyone with enormous longevity and projection. On skin, it lasts indefinitely and survives a shower. On clothes, it is eternal. It is a sublime scent that empowers you and makes you feel wonderful sensations. When I thought nothing from Gucci interested me after Joyas, Rush, Pour Homme, and Guilty, I discovered this and regained my faith. Do not miss out.

  • Sweetalmond

Aix! This perfume drives me crazy. It smells phenomenal on my skin and adapts well; the problem is the longevity. What has gone wrong with Gucci? It is a fantastic perfume. Most no longer last as before, and it disappoints me that they prefer cheaper ingredients.

  • I am not a fan of Gucci perfumes; they usually smell good but the longevity is a pain. However, this Intense Oud, which I found on Notino, is wonderful. I bought it blind without issues: it is a very tamed oud with excellent quality and longevity. To me, it is definitely niche quality, preferably for winter with elegant attire. If they let me try it blind, I would certainly say it is a Tom Ford; it has that vibe. One of the best purchases of 2023.

  • molletmod.73

Designer niche. In its day, it sold for a decent price, between 55 and 70 euros. Today, if you find it online (generally discontinued in generalists in Spain), the 90ml bottle will not drop below 90-95 euros; beware of offers. It is synthetic oud mixed with floral and incense notes, a nighttime, elegant, and usable fragrance for women after drying for about 30 minutes. A mature and elegant aroma. Ideal for autumn and winter. It used to last 8-9 hours, but recent reformulations suggest they have reduced it slightly. I have a batch from 2019 and it lasts quite a while. If you prefer domesticated ouds and do not trust cheap Arab brands, nor do you have Tom Ford or Versace Oud Noir or YSL M7, take a close look at this. You will like it, and perhaps your churri will too.

  • Barras_fragancias

The Batman perfume, super elegant, familiar, and very different. It brings me memories of Montblanc Meisterstück, Mancera Silver Blue, and Loewe 7. To me, it is not as heavy as people say, perhaps because I am used to sweet bombs like Arabian Tonka or Layton. I find it versatile if worn at night in special settings. It smells of raspberry at first and retains that raspberry note throughout, almost like Halls raspberry candy, with a slight pear sweetness. I detect a note of mentholated tobacco mixed with sweet leather, evoking shaving cream or mentholated cigarettes. It features a semi-medical oud and potent smoky incense, with amber as the protagonist. It gives a sensation of coffee or burnt caramel. The longevity is doubtful due to olfactory fatigue after 20 minutes, but I was told it smells super good after six hours with good projection. It evokes comfort and good memories; perhaps some might say it smells like a grandad, but in a good way. It is 100% masculine in my opinion. The bottle conveys luxury. A very good purchase.

  • Wood, incense, and leather with a sweet undertone and patchouli. It is a less dense Black Afgano, sitting within the underworld but brighter. I like it from start to finish, but it does not last well; poor performance. A pity. I prefer Black Afgano, which captivated me more. This fragrance is more wearable but not easy; it must appeal to that darker side. Nighttime, for cold days, and not very versatile. A shame regarding the performance, but still recommended.

  • Fragransimov

I tested it for several days and found it to be an excellent scent. It is a wearable and well-executed oud, one of the best in designer perfumes. It suits me better on a man, though it depends on personal taste. I wonder what is happening in the designer world; masterpieces lose their charm without decent performance. This is the case: after two hours, it is barely detectable, lingering only on clothes. If it had better longevity, it would be ideal for cool weather and evening occasions. Do not buy blind. Cheers.

  • Disque “perfume para hombre y mujer” WTF? This is a bomb of wild masculinity, screaming of musk, sweat, and testosterone. It smells heavy up close, almost repulsive and animalistic, yet the trail is pleasant. Suitable only for cold climates; not versatile at all, certainly not for daily wear. It reminds me of the smell of sweat on dark skin in the tube without deodorant. A complicated fragrance.
