Descripción

Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez is a floral musk woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2014, this composition was created by perfumer Aurélien Guichard. The olfactive pyramid opens with top notes of gardenia and white rose, giving way to a musky heart that settles over a base of white cedar extract, cedar, and vetiver.

  • I have just tried it, for the second time because lately I have been very busy buying perfumes that then end up on the shelf. 1 SINGLE WORD: UNIQUE. I have been trying for a long time to find a fragrance that reaches my heart, seriously. My partner is also a fan of good perfumes and it fascinates her just as it does me. It suits me divinely, 100% recommended, I love it so much.

When you are reviewing a fragrance and are preceded by 20 positive reviews, the challenge is greater. However, as I always say: I write first with my heart and only afterwards with my brain, my wallet and ‘what people will think’. As I once said: ‘the day I have a stable partner’ I would like to smell like Narciso Rodríguez. His men’s fragrances are difficult (I have two, I speak from knowledge), with the exception of that new marvel ‘Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir’; but the women’s line is quite the opposite: sensual, elegant, sophisticated, even innovative in a saturated world. And this Narciso fragrance is another success. I am fused with it; I agree with the previous 20 reviews. I have boxes with perfumed stickers of this fragrance and I just opened one, smelled it and rubbed it on my skin… and fantasies, sinful and loving thoughts began to wander in my mind. It is a sensual fragrance, but also candid, loving, inspiring; it is a book with a thousand haikus poured into a white glass bottle. Am I exaggerating? Of course I am, that is the point that the senses do not react rationally. The notes: a musk that I do not feel animalic, but in its dry-down slightly talc-like; the floral note is sweet and not intrusive (light). The woody notes make me wonder if it is unisex, but let no one be confused, this smells of Woman, of ‘Beautiful Woman’, of a Woman who only provokes consent to the limits of spoiling. I would recommend formal use (executive suit, linen trousers, anything that inspires sophistication). Business meetings, receptions, romantic dates but already with the person who will be your partner (if a woman used this fragrance with me without being my partner, she would be thinking all the date: ‘why did she use this fragrance to be with me? what did I do to deserve such a special prize? does she only want friendship or something more? and hundreds of more questions that would torment my restless mind… I wouldn’t pay attention to anything else haha). Thumbs up for Narciso.

  • More than a fragrance, a caress. More than defined notes, a sensory interpretation. A sublimation of a subtle moment is what this delicate perfume suggests, like velvet in a beige autumn. Another almost minimalist creation for a fragrance that envelops emotions with moderate duration and trail, and the ultra-feminine style of N.R. designs, this time seeking refuge in a bottle the colour of the mist of the first cold days of a serene May.

  • The first word that comes to mind when smelling it is ‘delicacy’. It is floral and talc-like with a ‘sweet’ touch that I love and I don’t know where it comes from; the gardenia and musk are most noticeable with a woody undertone. It is very feminine and sensual, evoking an elegant, neat, meticulous and delicate woman, but without that ‘innocent’ touch typical of other perfumes. I think it can be worn in any season as I don’t find it at all ‘heavy’. It will certainly be a commercial success; for me, we are facing a new ‘classic’.

  • VainillaDulce

Narciso Rodríguez stays true to his style with this fragrance, maintaining its minimalist character while remaining outrageously elegant. Narciso smells of beautiful woods with its unmistakable musk, where a fragrant and elegant gardenia floats; how much beauty can exist in the simplest things, that is Narciso. Its trail is moderate and its longevity high, albeit close to the skin. This perfume envelops and captivates silently.

  • VerónicaPaz

What a treasure! Unpretentious yet so elegant, minimalist, very feminine and timeless. A subtle trail that lingers on clothes for a long time. Like Narciso Poudrée, it has a deliciously creamy touch and can be worn in summer and winter. Unlike Poudrée, I see this Narciso as more subtle with a stronger presence of musk. I think it will be my next purchase, although the sales assistant said I was too young to wear it (is there anything more detestable than a sales assistant implying you shouldn’t wear something?). I was looking for something sweet and creamy but not cloying or teenage-tutti-frutti, but rather something clean, refined and modern. Narciso is definitely what I was looking for.

  • Delicious. Yesterday I sprayed some on my partner’s arm. The gardenia is lovely and the vetiver with the woods feels sweet and bright, giving a touch of ‘innovation’ to what could be a typical feminine perfume, with an air of brazen masculinity. There’s a beautiful, round fruity accord in the opening. The dry-down is the best: there’s a distinct musk, but it avoids being dry and astringent like in other NRs, opting instead for a creamier, oilier character. Elegant, evocative, with presence but nothing overwhelming, with a strong soul. Unisex, leaning more towards the feminine side. I want this beauty for myself.

  • Delicate, creamy, powdery… Gardenia with musk, vanilla, vetiver, pine nuts, and rich, sweet cream. Everything is perfectly balanced. Simply a delicious fragrance. Highly seasonal, clearly for winter on cold, rainy days. Excellent longevity and it stays close to the skin, not projecting; very concentrated and intimate. It’s one of those fragrances you wish wouldn’t become ubiquitous so as not to lose its charm. It will be my new favourite.

  • Miluka12

A very good blend of musk and woods that sometimes smells like Guerlain’s Samsara in the trail. It’s modern yet has vintage touches recreating a powdery, milky gardenia, something androgynous when mixed with woods. It has excellent longevity and is for those who avoid the conventional without giving up the sensuality of the gardenia.

  • Meleagrina80

It’s the house’s first release and I’m completely hooked! I adore how long it lasts and that blend of florals, woods, and a powerful talc-like note. Perfect for cold nights, it feels like a warm embrace, and its trail is enormous, though I’d wear it even if it didn’t last because the scent drives me wild. It’s not for delicate girls but for people with strong character; the white bottle is deceptive—there’s no innocence here, just audacity and extroversion. You notice it with every step; it’s warm and full of presence. It reminds me of longed-for childhood scents. I want to own it forever; I’d hate to see it discontinued. It’s my perfume, I never tire of it, and I’m just waiting for the perfect moment to wear it. I’ve been head over heels since day one and didn’t stop until I had it.

  • Very similar in my opinion to Poudrée; I think if you have one you don’t need the other, given that on my skin I don’t see much difference.

  • La plus belle

If it’s similar to Guerlain’s Samsara, you’ll have to try it; I liked the Narciso Poudrée version a lot, I feel it’s very creamy, this one not yet.

  • Elegant and feminine aroma, long-lasting and of very good quality; I like to use it in autumn, on the first cold days. Highly recommended.

  • The Narciso EDP is a musky fragrance, the brand’s hallmark, with a creamy gardenia note and a woody base. Recommended for those who enjoy white florals. On the Narciso Rodríguez website, the note is Bulgarian Rose, but I don’t detect it, so if you don’t like rose, you could try it with peace of mind, as I believe it doesn’t dominate. I don’t recommend buying it blind for those who like Gourmand or sweet perfumes. What I do recommend is that if you have the opportunity, try it. If you don’t like it, at least you’ll have a new olfactory reference.

  • shishishi000

I’m a man and I wear it; the fragrance is enveloping and even at times a bit dense, BUT it’s special.

  • Yadorán d'Vinea

I had high expectations; the brand’s fragrances are almost universally acclaimed for performance and scent, and indeed Narciso knows how to exploit its resources to the maximum. Musk is a versatile note; some fragrances use it for that aura of ‘cleanliness’ or fresh laundry (like Cacharel’s Noa), but it can also give a dirty, animalic essence (like Agent Provocateur). Narciso falls into the first category; while the first spritz has a dry, acidic hint (similar to sour cream), it quickly ‘cleans up’ and becomes very floral, luminous, fresh, and perhaps a little sweet. In metaphorical terms… it’s like being in less clothing than possible, like a warm shower that cleans more than one might expect, feeling like nudity without being a sexual scent. It evokes creams and cosmetic products, but its woody notes give it a natural backdrop. Narciso has a very warm atmosphere, and in its final phase, when it’s only perceptible at ankle height, it has a hint similar to a meringue. It’s an almost perfect fragrance; the acidic opening is easy to overcome and its longevity and sillage are respectable. I admit that for me it’s quite horizontal, although I didn’t notice the vetiver note. The bottle is practical and ergonomic, resembling a nail polish bottle. If I had to complain, it’s that it risks becoming repetitive; Narciso Rodríguez has a defined identity with musk at its core, but this advantage can become a curse if the concept is overexploited and each product becomes similar or identical to the previous one.

  • I came looking for the earthy note of Magnifique, one of the perfumes we used with my sisters in secondary school. It was the same year of launch, one of the first I bought with my own money. I bought the 50ml Narciso, and after smelling the box and my wrist in the following hours, the next day I swapped it for the 100ml. It’s a potent white floral, between talcum-powdery and earthy, with a supreme woody base. It’s a beast! I sense more of a bergamot vibe than rose… In any case, perhaps the jasmine and gardenia show their sparkling, citrusy side; here the flowers aren’t carnal or indolic, they’re clean but not tranquil, they shout their polished, well-planted presence! It’s a warm cloud of velvet. Unlike others where the talcum note is cold, here it’s more comforting. On the dry-down, the woods predominate and it becomes more earthy, with a slight warm amber touch. It’s not the classic vanilla-woody-citrus finish; it’s a cedar and vetiver earthiness, clean and non-green. I don’t remember how long it lasts because I haven’t used it in a while… I can say it projects very well, even when it fades in intensity towards its final sighs on the skin. I’ve had it for 6 years and I think the bottle level dropped more from gifting or exchanging decants than from my own use… It’s very neat, elegant, for special or formal occasions. Or, of course, for treating yourself on an ordinary day. It could be a signature scent because if someone wore it every day, you’d never forget its aroma… Note 1: The EDT seems more suitable for daily wear; it’s less potent, warmer-woodier, and easier to smell than the EDP (which tends to generate love or hate). I haven’t got a bottle of the EDT yet. Note 2: Poudrée is much sweeter and more ‘pink floral’ for me than this Narciso EDP. Note 3: Once I mixed the Narciso EDP with Natura’s This Flower. They had launched Rouge and I thought I’d try that combination while waiting for it to arrive in my city (it hasn’t arrived yet…). I loved how it turned out. Later I tried Rouge several times and still don’t understand it. I still think I need to give it another chance, because the family is so good up to here… I hope the new Rouge EDT and Narciso Ambrée are as glorious as the previous saga.

  • pathypooh

Exquisite; the blend of musk, rose, and woods is delicious, delicate, elegant, soft, and rich. Problem: on my skin it doesn’t last or project at all; I still prefer the Narciso For Her EDT.

  • A monster of a perfume. I tried it on Saturday at a perfumerie and a single spritz on my wrist kept me going all afternoon and evening; they rarely last like that, so I couldn’t believe it. The longevity and sillage are brutal; I can smell it with every movement, lasting for hours on end. Still on the dry-down, three days later, it smells perfect. Initially, there was plenty of gardenia and white florals; as I read, it’s the white rose. It’s a lovely perfume for an elegant, sophisticated, polished woman. It evokes cleanliness and class. It’s very pleasant, but in summer it might be too heavy; it’s for the colder months. It wears well on its own, but I imagine it on a well-made-up woman without excess, dressed in neutral tones like the bottle, which conveys exactly what it is. Too sophisticated for me; I’m more natural and casual, which is why I choose the Narciso Rodríguez For Her EDP, which I find more versatile and feels more like me. But this Narciso is a head-to-toe powerhouse. So much class, so much style. It’s not for everyone, but if it’s right for you, it’s perfect as a signature scent; it has a brutal memory effect. Careful not to overapply. A flawless creation, yes sir. Edit: I tried it again today. Oh my… I like it. This time I went with an open mind and felt its minimalist, clean, tender side. I’m fascinated. I use For Her EDP but it falls short on longevity; in contrast, Narciso is felt with every movement and is addictive. I tried Poudrée and no, I’m sticking with this. I’ll probably make it mine and take it to my heart. I’m in love. I sprayed on my arm at 2pm and at 10pm it was still lingering, clinging to the skin, yet there was that addictive scent. Eight hours had passed!! To give you an idea, For Her lasts 3-4 hours for me. But with this Narciso, the longevity is incredible. Some say it doesn’t last and that For Her lasts longer… the mysteries of chemistry. It’s also worth noting that the EDP isn’t as mass-produced or cloned as the For Her. It’s so well-made with quality ingredients that clones shouldn’t even cast a shadow.

Mother of the Lord, what a perfume bomb. This is where my love for the Narciso Rodríguez house was born; they’ve released things I like more and others less, but I still haven’t found anything I don’t like. With just a couple of sprays, the longevity and trail are fearsome, you have to apply it cautiously. It reminds me of a modern version of the great classics from the 80s and early 90s that my mother used, nothing for timid natures. That’s why sometimes they say it suits mature women with a classic style better. The scent is dry gardenia and cedar, with a green touch at the beginning. After a while, the white musk emerges and softens it. It sounds simple and harmless, but it’s almost narcotic from start to finish. Normally I hate reviews that say “you’ll be showered with compliments”, but this perfume brought compliments from strangers and is almost a magnet for both good and bad. The witch’s draught I’ve used the most ever.

  • Narciso envelops me in a floral cloud, peace and elegance. I suspect they are gardenias, I’m not an expert, but it’s a marvel. Chapeau! Re-edited Autumn 2021: the more I use it, the more I like it.

  • Brutal perfume. The gardenias just won’t stop coming out and the longevity is a beast. I’m taking it to my entire relationship with the narcissist, what a coincidence (perfumes are the circumstances we live through)

  • María Jacqueline

I got it for the cold months, its intensity is moderate and it lasts just enough. The white rose doesn’t quite convince me, but the Narciso musk and that woody base do. When I finish it, I’ll switch to the Poudrée. It is elegant, nothing invasive, and perfect for the day. I like it, but without overdoing it.

  • Mar Adentro

I wanted to start my first review with Esencia de Loewe, the classic (forgetting the brand’s recent craziness). I’ve been reading for months without being active, and according to the usual rules, I tend to use more men’s perfumes than women’s (but those rules are there to be broken). However, my recent encounter with Narciso has me crazy, and I’m going to talk about this wonderful eau de parfum. How did I not know it before! Narciso Rodríguez had to come along to slap the European perfume industry, which, with honourable exceptions, lives off rents: shameful reformulations, promises that turn into watered-down versions in 3 hours. Old houses that charge a fortune for mediocre creations without fixative. I buy from brands like Guerlain, Dior, Loewe, Prada, Bulgari, Van Cleef, or Hermès; sometimes they enchant me (Terre d’Hermès, Iris Cedre, L’Homme de Prada), other times they disappoint me. Narciso is another story… It’s been a long time since a perfume caught me like this. That addiction, that need to keep my nose to my wrist every two minutes, to overwhelm my partner asking them to smell it again… it has happened to me only a few times. Narciso is a perfume from head to toe: fine, clean, neat, extremely elegant. That musk, those gardenias, the cedar… it’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, with the longevity of the old days. What refinement in the gardenias and that powdery, talcum, creamy, milky smell… what elegance. That’s where the wolf dressed as a 50s woman emerges: it is feminine but the wood and musk tell you it’s not a common woman (predictable, sweet, and fruity, in my opinion). That wood gives it character without edges, with personality. I imagine a Lauren Bacall or Cate Blanchett smelling like this. I don’t know whether to venerate her as a goddess or bury my nose in her neck devouring her all night with animal musk desire. It evokes elegant nudity. How can one resist when I’ve fallen in love? Narciso slips among my few “feminine” fragrances to become my signature scent, sharing the podium with my first olfactory love. I’ve gone 24 hours without stopping smelling it, with a shower and an overnight break in between, and I still catch a glimpse of its beauty close to the skin. Virgendelamorhermoso, what a beauty. I encourage you to taste it, but don’t buy it, it’s mine, all mine. Long live Narciso and long life without massification or reformulations. P.S.: Good afternoon, apologies for my passionate debut, and thanks for this Fragantica where I enjoy myself like a queen.

  • It smells divine, like an expensive talc with a base of gardenias. It lasts a very long time on my skin; the musk of Narciso Rouge is the only one that smells good on my skin. I receive many compliments with this perfume, especially from women.

  • verdepensativo

Another perfume gentleman, but perhaps the most serious of Narciso. It is exquisite, refined, enveloping, and very classy. It is a woody explosion of gardenias and musk. It reminds me greatly of Narciso Poudré but without that playful note; this is more serious than Poudré without leaving a tremendous trail. It has great trail, projection, and longevity, especially in winter and cold climates.

  • Powdery, musky, and sophisticated, with a masculine vibe. It is woody and floral, though my nose doesn’t detect the rose to full effect. It seems extremely elegant, with a vintage feel, timeless like perfumes of yesteryear. I wore it in Canada in cold weather, especially on fresh mornings; it stands out in winter. The longevity is moderate with a delightful projection. Although it’s not my favourite, I think it will captivate several people for its class and formality. Try it.

  • This is a perfume bomb! A celestial musk bathed in the most delicate flowers, sober and sexy at the same time. I just found out they discontinued it. Whyeee?!!! I only have one 30ml bottle. What a pity.

  • Hello, I bought it for its reputation and the scent is exquisite, but it needs frequent reapplication. It sits close to the skin and on clothes, with a very faint trail; other perfumes last all day on my skin, but this one doesn’t. The price is high for its performance. It doesn’t resemble White Rose Agua Fresca (that one is long-lasting, fresh, and affordable), nor Eau de Rochas (that is a long-lasting EDT), nor anything from Guerlain at a similar price point. I liked it, but I’ll see how it fares in spring and summer.

  • Beautiful, really elegant as so many reviews say. Simple but punchy, I love the gardenia with which it opens (in other fragrances it smells like insecticide to me). Then it softens with the musk, which made me think it would be suitable for the heat, but when it reaches the woods it becomes warm, almost unisex. I’ll use it this autumn/winter enjoying every spray to the maximum, apparently they’ve discontinued it 🙁

  • My favourite perfume by far. It has character, charisma, it’s elegant and long-lasting… The big problem is that it’s not easy to find anymore, I don’t know the reason but it’s a shame. I haven’t tried Narciso Poudré but I see it could be the closest to this one.

  • The noblest Narciso there is. To my nose, it’s comfortably unisex. It has a delicious powdery aura but also an earthy quality from a super-present and distinguished cedar. An elegant perfume that I adore, good projection and good longevity.

  • marinapc24

How could they stop selling this perfume? I don’t understand anything, how sad I am, it was my perfume 🙁

  • Nancydano

That has been and is the best of Narciso Rodríguez, a pity it’s discontinued, a true gem of perfumery.

  • Beautiful, elegant, powdery and enveloping. On my skin, it feels all the time, soft and totally different from everything else. It doesn’t invade, but accompanies and embraces. I can’t distinguish the declared notes (except the omnipresent musk), but it’s a beautiful composition. DIVINE. The first 15 minutes smell of bitter almonds, which I don’t like much, but then they soften to give way to a powdery and woody scent, with sweet almonds. It reminds me of almond milk. You have to give it time to evolve. Beautiful. I was very lucky to get this discontinued gem.

  • Talc. Soft, fresh talc. Beyond that, I was expecting a marked gardenia that didn’t arrive; I only found a withered rose that reminds me of vintage perfumes and doesn’t quite take my fancy. If there wasn’t gardenia, at least I expected a creamy rose, but it was disappointing. The bottle, however, is beautiful and elegant.

  • Mademoiselle

To me, it was ‘THE PERFUME’. I can’t distinguish note by note; the creations from this house are like that, so well-crafted that the whole is unmistakable. It’s a powdery, clean, floral scent, but with woods that make it unique, nothing like anything else. I bought Poudré expecting something similar, but it’s not the same; Poudré is pretty but lacks that woody seal and the presence of the original. Every day I wore it, someone would ask what I was wearing. Narciso fell completely in love with me, what a shame they’ve discontinued it.

  • Pure luxury. I’ve worn it for years and it’s bizarre that you can hardly find it in stores. I admire the quality of the scent and the flawless architecture of its bottle; a good perfume doesn’t need to be loud, just elegant and subtle. It has excellent longevity, with a harmonious trail that leaves a mark without being overpowering. I love that soapy persistence that transports me to a glamorous dressing room from the golden years: the 30s, 40s, 50s… with women in silk and satin.
