  • I picked this up for the price. They told me it smells like an older lady, but it’s a natural rose that dominates everything and overpowers other fragrances. It’s very long-lasting and gives me incredible peace to sleep, although I’m embarrassed to wear it out in public.

  • I bought it blindly for the price. They said it smells like an older woman, but it’s a natural rose that dominates everything and overpowers other scents. It’s extremely long-lasting and gives me wonderful peace for sleep, though I’m shy about wearing it outside.

  • It has an air of Montale Black Oud. In fact, I combine them to save a little of the Montale. Good longevity, though one must be somewhat brave to wear it.

  • The excellence of the rose and saffron… I have tried countless perfumes with oud, many featuring the oud + rose + saffron combination. Here, the result is vastly different. This is genuinely Arabic; they do not attempt to emulate anything because their DNA is authentic. It’s as if the others are cheap, synthetic copies. A small roll-on and a dense amber oil with a screw cap might suggest a cheap scent, but no—it is delicate and dense all at once. It opens with excellent oud (very similar to real wood), and the rose and saffron appear instantly. The rose smells identical to distilled rose water found in Arab countries, which can be sourced in some places in Spain. The saffron perfectly recalls the prized flower variety, nothing like the culinary kind. The amber and sandalwood give it body and warmth so it is not a jarring explosion of scents. I loved discovering this oil that acts as an absolute. I would not recommend it to those unfamiliar with oud or realistic roses. It is hard to assimilate without at least a basic knowledge of oud or Arabic fragrances. It lasts over 14 hours, though the trail is not huge; it remains moderate with a light application and then drops to skin scent. I imagine with more quantity the trail would be much greater.

  • I’ll just say this: if you haven’t tried oud before, do not buy this blindly. It felt very intense and difficult to digest… I gifted it, and I have no idea what the recipient did with it afterwards.

  • I’ll just say this: if you haven’t tried oud, don’t buy this blindly. It was very intense and difficult for me to digest… I ended up giving it away.

Delicious, it is 95% identical to Sisley’s Soir d’Orient, though the latter still takes the crown at 170 euros.

Delicious! It’s 95% identical to Sisley’s Soir d’Orient, but the latter costs over £170.
