  • A classic fragrance centred on a single patchouli accord. It starts strong and fresh with rosemary and citrus, highlighting the bergamot. Then the patchouli enters, accompanied by light rose and geraniums that soften its earthiness, while the woods add sweetness, density and body. What seduced me most is the amber, which provides warmth, shine and richness of nuance. Curiously, the mint creates an interesting balsamic aura with great depth and projection. The result is slightly earthy, dry, with a faint mouldy touch, a floral backdrop and very deep. It has quality and is very well crafted. On the negative side, it lacks a bit of projection. It’s classic, yes, but that makes it timeless, elegant and suitable for daily wear due to its moderate projection. The effect is very hippie and seventies; I associate this patchouli with a summer in Ibiza. I will continue investigating it. Rating: 8.

  • A pure classic, a single patchouli accord. It starts strong and fresh with rosemary and citrus, highlighting the bergamot. Then the patchouli arrives with soft floral touches of rose and geranium that temper it, while the woods add sweetness and body. What hooks me most is the amber, which gives it warmth and shine. The mint creates a deep balsamic aura. In the end, it’s slightly earthy, dry, with a very deep and quality floral base. The downside is that it lacks projection. It’s timeless, elegant and usable daily due to its moderation. The effect is very hippie and seventies, reminding me of a summer in Ibiza. I will continue investigating it. Note: 8.

A gem from Etro that retains the density and dark character of eighties creations. Patchouli takes charge from the start: it begins green and fresh, then turns earthy, with fermented, dirty, even animalic notes, reminding me of stables and pens. It’s a difficult patchouli that doesn’t suit everyone and leaves a rancid, decadent, camphorated trail. It was launched as a base for layering with other fresher fragrances from the brand, but I tried every possible combination and none worked; in the end, I simply didn’t like it. It’s a retro classic full of contrasts. Don’t buy it blindly; test it on your skin or request a sample. Its dirty, farm-like aura might scare off generations accustomed to modern scents.

A gem from Etro that retains the density and dark character of the eighties. Patchouli takes charge from the outset: it begins green and fresh, moving to an earthy note with dirty, fermented and almost animalic nuances; to me, it smells like stables and pens. It’s a difficult patchouli that doesn’t suit everyone and leaves a rancid, decadent, camphorated trail. It was created as a base for layering with other lighter Etro fragrances, but I drove the sales assistant mad searching for the ideal combination and there was no way. Conclusion: I didn’t like it. It’s a retro classic full of contrasts. Don’t buy it blindly; test it on your skin or request a sample. Its dirty, farmyard aura might put off generations accustomed to modern scents.
