Dry, pure amber with a hint of vanilla that doesn’t cloy, blended with florals and resin. It smells like syrup, specifically the kind that makes you want to lick the spoon. Here, the amber shines with remarkable purity without needing excessive sweetness; the other ingredients simply enhance it. It’s like a soliflore designed to dye other scents. A spoonful of amber syrup crafted by Etro.
A perfectly executed amber with notes in harmony from start to finish. The opening is slightly incisive; the citrus doesn’t refresh but coexists with an almost sweet aroma of vanilla, broom flower, and amber. It’s an adult, rigid, and unisex amber. Etro creates perfumes meant to be bought in pairs for layering, which is superimposing fragrances to create an original scent. I don’t like that technique because I believe each perfume loses value on its own, though I understand others love smelling more unique this way. It all depends on which is the base and which is the heart. Ambra is designed to be a base; it’s very personal with medium longevity (like all Etro scents) and blends well with fresher ones like New Tradition or Pegaso, which are softer and more ethereal. In perfumeries, they have combination charts and the sales assistant recommends based on your style or gender… to each their own. It’s also perfect on its own in cool weather for someone with a strong personality. Age doesn’t matter; it’s for amber lovers, a well-crafted adult amber.
